Awesome. Thanks for the great video. I'm glad that you mentioned the negative aspects also. It would be nice to see more in detail closer to the fenders (where the cab meets the fenders). Keep it up.
I took the plywood down to within a quarter inch or so of each fender flare then filled the voids with pipe insulation. Being drafty is not all bad though because fumes are a constant problem..Thanks for watching Steven
@towerhillbilly @Steve Richard I believe the solution to the fumeproblem is an electric fan that breathes from the front end. With a small overpressure in the cab, fumes have harder to get in. Downside whould be the cold air from the fan. Sorry if the English is bad. I am from Sweden.
Thank you for sharing this. This thing is great, and is clearly better than the manufactured ones in a lot of ways (this looks way easier and cheaper to repair if a part gets busted). You should definately put one of those chimney vent covers that keep the rain and elements out, while still allowing for air flow, on the top of the cabin. I guarantee the fume problem and the temperature problem will be decreased a lot. The heat carries the fumes upwards towards the chimney where it'll dissappate. I bet it'll stay cooler by 10 degrees, even 15 if it's a really hot day. If you try that you should give us an update on it and the results. Take care.
I've made several with 1/2 pvc. Basically a square and you clamp it to the front and rear rack and it makes a bow or a turtle. Super simple. I cover it with old jeep top or soft bed tarp and put a plexiglass windshield in. I tried a piano hinge to flip the windshield on the roof when it's warm but the hinge didn't last long and cracked the plexi. So the second version I put vents on the sides forward of the handlebars where I could flip them open to catch air. I've made doors with pvc and covered the sides with plastic. I've even put a propane top heater in it and rose in 15 degree weather in a t-shirt. Like the man said the noise is the biggest issue.
titanpat-- We finally got a good plowable snow while the cab was installed. No fogging at all of windows. it was a really cold morning, maybe 2 above zero outside, after 30 minutes or so of plowing it was 45 inside the cab...worked very well!
Its good craftsmanship and a great idea but I feel like it could be dangerous if you hit a jump or went down a steephill. Maybe youd tip it or roll it. If that happens this wooden cab could potentially make that lethal. The work and idea is great, but at this point I think you should just use a side by side. I know theyre more expensive but you can probably get a used one.
You would have to pry it from my cold dead fingers this morning...Built it three years ago and today is the first time i've plowed with it. two degrees outside and forty -five in the cab with no steam issues with the windows...I just added acoustic foam to all the interior wood surfaces-- It really helps with sound deadening and adds some insulation...It comes off in the spring, strictly a winter deal
Best video yet I saw about a cab on a atv!!! Have been kicking that around for awhile
Thank you

@@towerhillbilly what would happen if you were to put a metal pipe (4 inches or so) and bring the exhaust fumes about a foot over the cab?

I may just try that Tad. It's a work in progress for sure..Thanks for watching
You could put you one of those little heaters in there that plugs into the 12 volt plug. Would be perfect.
The Cyber four wheeler. Pretty Kool 😎
@@brownbear7869 Not bulletproof like elons but much cheaper. Thanks for looking
I'm thinking of doing a similar project. Thank you for posting this
I think 🤔 it's awesome 👌 👏 THANKS for sharing 👌 👍
I like it. I'm thinking of making one with PVC pipe and fabric.

Great explanation..thank you!...I have to ask, how is the fogging of the windows while plowing?
We haven't had a good snow yet...Just built the cab last winter...Will let you know. Thanks for watching
