@@MoroccanAnwar Salaam Alaikom Brother that khutbah was amazing Alhamdulillah. If you possible could there please be khutbah on the student finance system( the loan taken to pay of tuition fees for university). It would be great In sha Allah.

How can we warn against mortgages due to the riba, but feel comfortable driving around in our cars when we pay car insurance? BOTH involve riba and BOTH a car and a mortgage have halal alternatives for most Muslims living in the UK. We cant say car insurance is halal when we have access to buses, trains, bikes etc, the same way we can't say a mortgage is halal when we have the option to rent. Every brother I've approached on this matter is shy to address this grave reality. May Allah make us all truly fear Him. The scholars say you have to be forced and HAVE NO CHOICE( for example, Ibn Baz) if you are going to pay car insurance. But most brothers I see have the choice to use public transport they just drive for convenience!
There's a difference. Vehicle insurance is mandated by the law, a mortgage isn't. Also there's nothing like Islamic bank, they all have some interest in one way or another. Where the car insurance could become problematic is paying for it monthly, that mostly involves interest. Also in most cases driving might be the most convenient alternative. Either way even if you choose not yo drive much, you insurance is generally annual. Also we can agree that Bin Baz is a renowned scholar, his advice is sound. Allah knows best.

One could be classed as betting (car insurance) and the other is interest
