    But. man... answer my `life's question`, it's super cool this technique since we have a lot of time to make it.
    At the end of the day, it seems if there's only a simple 3d model which you can paint over and apply textures it will be enough for concept art.
    I just wonder, how long do people have in a studio to achieve a great level as yours using 3d for concept art, not taking in consideration approvals, changes etc...
    I wanna use 3d for specific works but I always think, is it worth? It's not ease and it takes ages depending on what you have to do. Most of the time, there's no time for it.
    In advertising is almost impossible, specially because of many back and forward. pufff...
    Anyway, awesome job!

    • @enzominarro2008
      @enzominarro2008 4 года назад

      Thanks man! To be honest I've done these images while doing my portfolio, so yes I took my time to build nice 3D blockings and play around with Blender trying to push the 3D as far as I could without any pressure of deadlines. I just got my first job in the industry recently, I do 2D backgrounds for animation now, so we basicaly paint on top of really rough 3D layouts or sometimes just 2D layout. So far,I haven't done 3D blocking by myself proffessionally, but I know many people in the Industry does, especially when it comes to work on realistic images for video games or live action movies. Then it depends of the amount of time you are allowed to spend on a concept, and the type of image of course (sometimes you don't even need the 3D at all). Of course you need to achieve the image as fast as possible, so sometimes you gonna have to kind of use cheating method like kitbashing some part of the 3D for exemple. You should check the Shaddy Safady's latest videos on making of the Art of TLOU 2, Concept artists breaks down their techniques, that's really instructive

    excellent work and useful pipeline. I have one question - how Blender handles 3d Coat exported geometry? Do you need to retopo in 3d coat, or you can escape with decimation?

    • @enzominarro2008
      @enzominarro2008 4 года назад

      Yep, in general every mesh you import from 3D Coat are really messy in Blender with millions of polygons. So what you can do is either use the remesh option in the object data properties, or use a decimate modifier, in this this option you'll have to do it several times if you want to really reduce the poly account.

      @raphicoco 4 года назад +1

      @@akro4499 Yes, but just like you said... 3D BASIS. it should look closer to a blocking of a environment than a finish product without texture. The idea of making a concept art is to save time. Changes are inevitable and in the industry, most of the directors do not even know themselves what they truly want. So instead making 3d props and wasting days for noting, you wasted hours instead with a drawing or digital painting.

    • @raphicoco
      @raphicoco 4 года назад +1

      @@akro4499 I may be looking at it the wrong way. Because for a portfolio, you have all the time you want to make it. Game dev will also ask the artist to make fully flesh out art for selling or promote, but those are not actual concept art at this point.
      But! What i am saying is that in the industry were time is money, this is not a good way for making a concept art. It can bee a good process for a portfolio but you will get yelled at by your superior if you did it the same way. Do not forget there are also a lot of 3d artist that waits for those concept before starting to work. You do not want to make everyone waits for noting.
