I, too, would have gone with water lily. Here in Florida, a bare bulb in a net costs 10 dollars. No leaves, no bucket, etc. :( Kind of a jip really. lol. I may have tossed in some Elodea or Anacharis? But that will spread fast too. You are inspiring me to set up my mini pond, Ryo. Hahhahha. Also, THANK you for taking us on a trip! I JUST LOVE THOSE! When we go in a car someplace. Hahhaha. AND I also LOVE the drain pipe system.. Ingenius! (and yes put in a longer pipe at the end to diminish splashing. lol. Happier neighbors. heeehee.) OH - is your grandmother home now? Is she doing well?
Also, IF you are able to find someone with ricefish, they will cost 8 to 10 dollars A PIECE. Not including shipping. Quite spendy. I lost about 8 of them, and I am now down to five. I'm hoping they reproduce. But we shall see.
Love this! 😍 the backyard is so nice with all the plants. Lily’s are just unreal. So beautiful!!! A dream place you have there. Always so inspiring too watch.
That dirty tank water is liquid heaven for many plants. It is great for plants you want to yield abundantly such as blackberries, tomatoes, etc as it gives them an extra boost to encourage heavy yields. It is also good for soil building even if you just drain the water into an empty patch of soil. I hope you are able to find a system to use that resource in the future. Love the videos! 👍
Yup, Maybe someday I'll try to save a couple buckets of water each water change if I'm ever growing any special plants, fruits our veg. Right now the garden is basically just covered in weeds so theres really no point.
Love the lily! If that bin is sturdy, you could always add some rockwork on a corner and add a water pump to create a little waterwall feature. That would probably open the door for adding some more plants the goldfish cant munch on :'D Looks great so far tho btw! Your backyard is so tranquil.
Nice idea but I prefer to keep this pond looking simple. Plus I dont have any electrical outlets by the pond so I wouldn't be able to hook up a submersible water pump
Nice pond, Ryo. You'll goldfishes will surely love it. 🙂 If you put some water hyacinth on the goldfish pond, it will not able to grow. Trust me 🙂 I already done that to my goldfish pond. They just made it a snack. Goldfishes are fond to eat plants especially if it has roots sticking out. The only plants that are suitable for them are hardy and big ones. Mine is I just put some golden pothos on my fitler sump.
I’m fairly certain that if you place that Lilly directly on the bottom that the leaves and flowers would grow to the surface and very quickly at that. Also it would have been a good idea to transplant it into a larger pot so that it has room to expand
Ryo you may also control the air flow on those sponge filter's at those connectors on your PVC piping you may also want to put check valves and maybe even add some micro ball valves to your air hose to control that air pump. Nice job amazing lily. Just a word of advice the water your draining will also act as a fertilizer to the back yard and it will be loaded with nutrients to fertilize your garden. Might want to re-route some of that water into the garden.
Yup, i mentioned that there is no possible way to re-route the water the other direction. It's an uphill slope and theres too many obstacles to get around
Great setup, so looking forward to the end result. 😊 Just a question, maybe you know it; I read water lilies don't like water flow. Are there a few exceptions? I think here in Germany, a water lily of that size would be around the same amount, maybe a few bucks more. No bucket and fertilizer, though, I'd say!
Love the drainage idea that works out so well! Just a thought for these cons pipe system that goes outside you could cut the pipe outside into a half circle for a cradle to the hole at the door and then look at getting some lay flat hose. It will be so much less in the way and will only puff up when there is water in it. Every other time it will just be flat so you won’t trip on it
In Australia water lillies cost between $25.00 to $65.00. I have just started setting up a pond to keep rice fish, just wish we had the little house for rice fish but cannot find them anywhere but l am not giving up l am sure l will find one soon. Thank you for introducing me to rice fish, l love them. 🐡🐟
No he was the passenger. In Japan the steering wheel is on the right of the car. Like in England too. I moved to Okinawa and it was hard to get used to at first lol
That's so cheap for that big of a water lily!! Mine here in Okinawa at Makeman (it was a lot smaller too) was like 1500 yen! And I didn't get a free bucket haha That looks nice in there, I like it minimalist like that for now. Hopefully no goldfish try to stick their fat heads in the holes in the ceramic thing down there!
You should put mesh or something to cover the outside drain that way bugs or other animals cannot crawl through and go inside. Just enough space for water to flow out
I thinm you should consider putting the hyacinth in temporarily youll need some fast growing plants to get the tank working nicely since you dont have a substrate. You can always take them out once the other plants start to thrive.
@@RyoWatanabee sure in my experience though this kinda pond will really benefit from more. I have a few plastic storage bin ponds and even with filters etc the first few months realy benefit from the likes of duck weed or frog bit 😂 hyacinth would be easier to remove later than those options 😂
Hi Ryo, this is a bit late, but I believe the moth larvae you found is a member of the theretra genus, although I'm not sure which type. It could be a theretra oldenlandiae, but its coloration is throwing me off a bit (so someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) Also, I just recently discovered your channel, and I've really been enjoying the content you've been putting out, so keep it up!
No substrate. I’m adding goldfish so I want it as simple as possible. Goldfish can also accidentally swallow gravel which is not good for them. As for the blue bottom, I’m sure algae will grow on it and make it look more natural
Hey Ryo, long time no right. I wanted to let you know I figured out what was killing all my fish in the last 3 years it's the water in Taiwan I found a woman who was a short-finned bettas and she also raises King bettas and she said that the water in Taiwan is horrible for tropical fish Long story short I checked out Filipino and Indonesian fish breeders and who speak English and they said all he got to do is fill up a clean container let the water sit for 2 days and then you toss in an almond leaf my water is completely acidic free. I want to do a tank that just has clear water I can do it but I actually like the look of the almond leaves I think it looks quite nice there's a like a tea color tint to the water and you can make it stronger but I don't want it so strong but I can't see the fish And I got pretty creative with my anubias. I took a small planted Anubis and I cut it up into small pieces and a wedged it in between the hardscapes and then the larger leafed anubias I put it in the back and it turns out that my water lettuce actually probably can thrive because I put a double dose of fertilizer into the water because one capful just wasn't doing it even for my Anubis some of the leaves are starting to turn yellow so for my large tank it gets three capfuls of liquid fertilizer for my second larger tanks they get two caps everything's good to go every time I do a water change once a week I added one more thing after taking out the water all my fish are healthy this is where you come in my friend do you know the best way to avoid male Bettas from getting swim bladder! The only kind of beta that thrives between one to three years are Short fan betas and they only have females in Taiwan they don't have shortened male Bettas and if they do they're very expensive are crowntails veil tails you know the bait is that are beautiful but people don't sell for very much are they just destined to die from swim bladder? I heard that Epsom salt works if you use unscented so I'm asking my sister to send some because I don't know where to get it. Do you soak your pellets and feed them to your Betta? my female date is they don't have problems with their pellets I can drop them in they eat them they never have swim bladder none of my bettas have had any kind of fungus or bacteria not since I started giving them a methane blue bath before I put them in the established tanks
Here’s food for thought, instead of draining all that water into the street drainage system. Flow it towards your garden to repurpose for your mini ponds….
Family I need some advice, I’m being terrorised by hair alge so two weeks ago I stopped fertilising, cut lights down to four hours a day and cut back on feeding but it doesn’t seem to be working. It’s everywhere, I normally do a 50% water change every weekend but have increased to every four days. I don’t want to take the tank down as before it was beautiful and I have no other tank and can’t really afford to do it all again as the cost of setting up a tank in Ireland is extortionate. My head is telling me it’s a lost cause but I’m hoping not. Any advice at all will be really appreciated 🇮🇪❤️👍

Make sure you put a screen on the outlet of the pipe. I don't know about Japan, but that right there is a mouse tunnel into your fish room.

just an idea, if you get an adjustment valve to reduce the amount of air flow you should be able to reduce the amount a water turbulence.

For autochange you don't really need to drill the aquarium.😁👍
the sponge filter out of the water sounds like an angry snake 😂😂

Are there any mosquitoes problems when keeping ponds?
Not as long as you have water movement or fish in them
$10! 😳 Here in north Florida, USA they are $50! That’s why I haven’t gotten one! Great little pond you’ve got there. 🥰
Love you bro ❤❤❤
Shouldn't the sponge filters have a air uplift tube on them?
Yup, but I took them off. Easier maintenance and I've got enough uplift already
Waiting for you to put goldfish in 😘❤
Are you putting a substrate. I think a tiny gravel would look really great instead of the blue bottom.
No substrate. I’m adding goldfish so I want it as simple as possible. Goldfish can also accidentally swallow gravel which is not good for them. As for the blue bottom, I’m sure algae will grow on it and make it look more natural
The water lily would be around $30 in the United States so about ¥3200
Let's do submersible pump with skimmer inlet and diy box tricklefilter. Some china goldfish keeper using it and it's elegant!
I don’t have any electrical outlets near the pond so I can’t put a submersible pump
Very cheap plant and it looks great!
I like the idea of a drain system but instead of going in a drain you should reroute and use the fish waster water to water your out door plants.
Yes, and I mentioned why I couldn’t do that
Cool 😍👌👍

They do turn into moths.
The catapillar from A Bugs Life.

Run the water to a small sump the pump it to the back yard
The water from aquarium is the best for garden, you must try to find a solution ;).
Did you used to work for ADA?
Ooh
Maybe you could add some rice fish in with the goldfish
Yeah, but the fast swimming goldfish like comets and shubunkins will eat ricefish
