best musical decade was the 70's, then the 60's, 50's, & the 80's till about 86' or 87' music started getting stale..thriller was the creshendo of the 80's, after that it was downhill to grunge music, then Rock became.."Classic Rock" in the 90's
This was the year that I met Shaw. He wasn't happy, the band was at war. There was a serious power struggle . I wasn't surprised when he left Styx , soon after .
I actually love this song. Good performance of it. Guess you could call it cheesy, but I still crank it every time it comes on the radio. Then again, I AM an 80's child
okay, I LOVE STYX haha... i may be only 15 years old but i grew up on styx bcuz my parents LOVED them so now i've caught the bug. My dad loved this band soo much he named me Lorelei haha :D but honestly Styx is nothing without Dennis Deyoung which is why they arent as popular as they use to be... it is really really sad for me to see them all not together like the sound i grew up on... even tho they broke up when i was little i grew up on their old sound and i really miss it...
my first concert in Madison Wisconsin back in 1977. also foghat and James Gang!!! unbeknownst to me I was seeing the great Jo Walsh!! long time ago so who knew?
What I like about Styx is that they could reproduce any of their music live on stage. Not all bands can do that and have a great sound most all the time like styx did/does. I've seen them twice and both shows were very good.
last time i watched my caught in the act live was on vhs and halfway through dont let in end the cops booted my door in and busted me for dope loool those weree the days
In the 80s I was never really a styx fan, I was more of a heavy metal fan , but later I was definitely a Damn Yankees fan initially because of Nugent but never paid much attention to the rest of the Yankees, I just knew I liked what they were doing, it wasn't until 2020 when I was revisiting songs from the Yankees that I discovered who Shaw was/ is , I never had a clue he was lead for Styx at such a young age...wow , its impressive how such a young man could possibly know his life passion so early in life, I was partying and chasing women and going no where , when people like this were focused on success and doing what they loved for their career....
I used to watch this all the time when I was little. It's weird remembering all of this. Like JY saying "Get out of here, Tommy." and him smacking his butt. XD
you cannot get better then Styx. Their music was uniquely different. bring back the good old days when musicians had to work their way to the top! not discover in fricken You Tube!!?? Really!!?? wtf!?
yes i have this dvd its cool! they can play live not like some artists.does,nt tommy resemble david spade from rules of engagement.or is it me?.any way a terrific band bought it on vinyl in 84 ,got the cd now.check out tommys ibanez,so cool!
Where was this live performance recorded and when? I see it was 1983 but just curious where the concert took place. Thanks I LOVE THIS!!! John Panazzo!!!
@1969DayTripper idk, i think its pretty cool. i like the concept. while the parts where everyone is acting are somewhat cheesy and out of character, for a young person like myself who loves cheesy 80's stuff, thats right up my allie :P it is an interesting watch, to say the least
@Guitarrosaurusrex yea but how long did it take you to just figure out that they were good live lol and please dont call me young lady its creepy when you are about the same age as me
After watching Tommy play the lead solo at the end he stops but his guitar is still feeding back. it's either lipsynced or the audio's off on the video. the timing is off and i got too much time on my hands to notice it.......
And people don't wanna admit this but music is a pretty dorky thing. It's invisible and yet we sit and try to feel it and capture it in a physical way. That's dorky...
Raise your hand if you're still listening to this in 2021✋
2023
I am watching in 2024😢
i was born in 1984, and TOMMY SHAW is the hottest thing I have ever seen
You were born the year after the release of Kilroy Was Here (w/Mr. Roboto).
People are always lamenting that there was no good music made in the 80's. They were just listening to the wrong stuff....
best musical decade was the 70's, then the 60's, 50's, & the 80's till about 86' or 87' music started getting stale..thriller was the creshendo of the 80's, after that it was downhill to grunge music, then Rock became.."Classic Rock" in the 90's
I first came across Tommy Shaw in Damn Yankees, I had no idea he was with Styx’s!!!❤❤❤❤
This was the year that I met Shaw.
He wasn't happy, the band was at war. There was a serious power struggle .
I wasn't surprised when he left Styx , soon after .
Tommy, the wild eyed southern boy.
Southern? 😂He lives in Michigan!! He has forever!!
@@angelabaiers5055 He is originally from Alabama.
He was playing at keglers kove in Montgomery AL FOR YEARS PLAYING WITH THE BAND “Harmony”
@@angelabaiers5055 Yep southern born in Montgomery Alabama and has been living in Nashville for at least the past 10 years.
2018 still here everyone listening
What a rocking live version. Tommy Shaw rocks so hard.
R8gin9Zxen he had a serious cocaine habit back then... they're playing at Mach1 lol
Thank god for small favors

Man, everyone has to just love this.
No terrorists here so far.
The only terrorist we have here now is Covid-19. Covid-19 sucks!
I actually love this song. Good performance of it. Guess you could call it cheesy, but I still crank it every time it comes on the radio. Then again, I AM an 80's child
Tommy owned that stage.
Theme song of the internet
Wow what a performance!!! This was awesome!! Maybe too awesome!
"..is it any wonder im not craaazy? hehehehehe.." Hahaha
The most underated band in the history of Rock and Roll, Styx is awesome- the very first band I liked when I was growing up.
My first arena concert. Styx 1983.
okay, I LOVE STYX haha... i may be only 15 years old but i grew up on styx bcuz my parents LOVED them so now i've caught the bug.
Thank you Tommie Shaw!!!! YOU'LL always be my hero!!!!
The most harmony I’ve ever seen on stage
These guys are good. But if you want harmony, check out some live Queen shows. Pretty much any of them.
@Auntie Geigui For being called Auntie, you sure are prejudiced. Then again, not everyone's Aunties are good people.
@1969DayTripper
yes, this is an exert from Caught In The Act. which is a DVD filmed on the Kilroy tour
Proud to be a 80's Kid.
my first concert in Madison Wisconsin back in 1977. also foghat and James Gang!!! unbeknownst to me I was seeing the great Jo Walsh!! long time ago so who knew?
Must've been The Grand Illusion Tour.
i was 7 when this came out i think one of the movie channels showed this when i was at the babysiters
she was a styx fan
Cool theme 🎉
Look at Tommy go!
What I like about Styx is that they could reproduce any of their music live on stage. Not all bands can do that and have a great sound most all the time like styx did/does. I've seen them twice and both shows were very good.
What a great band from a simpler time. I miss the 80's.
last time i watched my caught in the act live was on vhs and halfway through dont let in end the cops booted my door in and busted me for dope loool those weree the days
Paradise Theaters
Tommy Shaw is a beast!
Everything about this, audience, music, live show, editing was way ahead of it's time.
such great harmonies
Tommy my first crush🥰💋
You'll always be my hero!
They were so fucking cool. I wish the popular bands today were like this.
Love JY & Tommy dancing together at the end. I highly reccommend getting this DVD off Amazon. "Caught in the Act-Live"
❤ Tommy Shaw

It’s been years since I was able to see Tommy in Montgomery at keglers Kove

Caught In The Act Live
A&M Records, 1984
Tommy, bravo!
I bought all the birthday and get well cards too!!!
この頃はまだ童顔ですね。
Tommy Shaw is so cool.
This is STYX Performing
great performance
June2021📺🎧👍👍
they perform the exact same way now. it's really interesting how their act hasn't changed much at all
Tommy was around 14 here. Just hit puberty.
More like 30 😉
Awesome saw you last weekend at Mohegan Sun and you put on a powerhouse show..Looking for your return...:)
I used to watch this all the time when I was little. It's weird remembering all of this. Like JY saying "Get out of here, Tommy." and him smacking his butt. XD
They are dorky as hell here...It's one of the only bands that I'd actually want to hang with backstage...
this is the shit yaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!
Someone call security, another teenage boy has snuck on the stage.
you must be the dork if you don't like it
Hee hee :)
I wish I was in that crowd undressing tony with my eyes. I mean hes not that good looking but man can he play...
Tony?
tommy shaw is tooo adorable....is that a 'b' bender he's using???
I dont think so...is it a Hamer?
Tommy looks better with short hair!! And the addition of Lawrence Gowan was ingenius, he is great and I love that spinning keyboard!!
Yeah I got the condolences card!!! Drummer
Kinda lyk it 🤩 0:26
It can be felt in a physical way. Sounds like you need a speaker upgrade!
you cannot get better then Styx. Their music was uniquely different. bring back the good old days when musicians had to work their way to the top! not discover in fricken You Tube!!?? Really!!?? wtf!?
3:40 - 3:48 funny when James Young Slaps his butt😁😁😁😁
yes i have this dvd its cool! they can play live not like some artists.does,nt tommy resemble david spade from rules of engagement.or is it me?.any way a terrific band bought it on vinyl in 84 ,got the cd now.check out tommys ibanez,so cool!
jimmy fallon bought me here
+Stevie Cakezz - Me too. Killer guitar!
lol me too
me too his version is hilarious
Where was this live performance recorded and when? I see it was 1983 but just curious where the concert took place. Thanks
I LOVE THIS!!! John Panazzo!!!
Pretty sure it was in New Orleans on that tour, as it looks like the same performance that was documented on the live Caught In The Act album.
@@drummer1965usayes you are right, this was recorded in New Orleans😊
was this on the Killroy was here tour?
E' il concerto all'Olimpiastadium di Zurigo per caso?
Two questions
-what's with the creepy laugh at 1:05?
-why did he randomly call John Panozzo at 1:12?
Tommy often did the crazy laugh and crazy eyes on this song when he sang the part " is it any wonder I am sane at all"
why not
doesn't matter
what does matter is the passion
regardless of why
@1969DayTripper
idk, i think its pretty cool. i like the concept. while the parts where everyone is acting are somewhat cheesy and out of character, for a young person like myself who loves cheesy 80's stuff, thats right up my allie :P

Is it cheddar cheesy?lol.
@Guitarrosaurusrex yea but how long did it take you to just figure out that they were good live lol
and please dont call me young lady its creepy when you are about the same age as me
I think you need glasses there
AR720
You should be so lucky to suffer from such Dorkism. A tight performance indeed.
I would like to see styx band play a
Song without Dennis tommy or
James put together once. New !
This performance was not from 1983. First saw this on "Video Concert Hall" late 1979.
it's from Caught in the Act which was 1983. the Kilroy tour
This song is originally from Paradise Theater, 1981.
my bad I meant tommy lol. I have adhd
David Spade sings?
Duke Jenkins or Luke Skywalker lol
After watching Tommy play the lead solo at the end he stops but his guitar is still feeding back. it's either lipsynced or the audio's off on the video. the timing is off and i got too much time on my hands to notice it.......
He Overdubbed the feedback end for this live video , he cheated it's too perfect and missing from the visual.
Christ they do it better in 1996 and 2017
@Guitarrosaurusrex well duh lol
And people don't wanna admit this but music is a pretty dorky thing. It's invisible and yet we sit and try to feel it and capture it in a physical way. That's dorky...
You're a dork!!
@Metallica32777 Joust.
haha
Back in the day when you could call a terrorist a terrorist...
not whatever that political corret thing we call them today.
@FootofaFerret it is intresting to watch, but its a waste of time
Terrible video quality. Great song
@FootofaFerret thats the worst tour ever
Oh your not?
must have gotten you confused with someone else. sorry. but still just a little creepy lol
