I am using a free tuner off the net , Pitch Perfect, not really for accordions but cannot afford Dirk's tuner, do you reckon I'm wasting my time with this ?
Hello! A few questions please: 1. What reed wax heating pot do you use? Beauty waxer type? What is the temperature of the wax? I heard it should be more than 100 deg.C, perhaps 110 deg.C. 2. Why do use the Italian spoon type? Have you tried other spoons, for instance the Hohner type? 3. How many times do you believe you can heat up the same wax in a pot without changing it? I've heard 3 times are fine but more than that and the wax begins to deteriorate.
1. Yes. The temperature of the wax should be 110-120 deg.C. 2. Italian spoon type is my favorite (you can use others if you want). 3. One instrument "eat's" about 150-200 g. of the wax, so every time it should be added new one (capacity of heater is 400g.), so it's no problem.

How do you make it defy gravity like that?
Just slightly tap bottom of reeds in to the heated wax before put it to the reedblock :) . That's all
