Michael Shannon, Scoot McNairy, Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Nichols together? Fantastic. Had a Hell of High Water kind of vibe to it.
It was literally a scene out of what could be one of the highest quality shows around. These are top class actors, and it's weird to see them in a music video. Not complaining, and it's a great song, but it's not often you'll see music videos where the acting and production upstage the actual music.
I mean we'd all watch that show right? Just based on the cast even.

It seems to me the beginning scene is the last shot, it has the same sound of the car driving off. And he is driving in the same direction as he approached his brothers. I believe he helped them and led the cops away, as you can see in the opening when he quickly looks into the rear view mirror, he is possibly looking at cops on his tale. As Bruce Springsteen said "Man turns his back on his family, he ain't no good."

I've been a fan of Lucero for about 20 years now. I remember being so impressed with this video when it came out. I thought about it for the first time in a while after maybe a few to many shots of tequila tonight. It still rules!

I just found this while looking for news on Jeff Nichols next movies! Awesome! I liked it! I like how he often uses the same actors. The guy in the beginning was in Mud and Midnight special and obviously Shannon has been in everything since shotgun stories. The song was good too.

Just to add onto my previous comment... I'm actually directing a short film with "Back To The Night" as the music for it, and inspiration behind the story in the film, one character being the man who speaks in that song. I've been so inspired by your music, Lucero. While I do produce videos for RUclips, usually they don't contain copyrighted music so that I can monetize my creations, however, this one I know I will not be able to monetize, that's how inspired I am by your music; I don't care about the money for my time and effort to film and edit this piece, I just want to do it because the song is so deep. I guess all I can say is, thank you for inspiring a small, amateur film maker to create great things.
