Whoa, I can only get closer to Adachi by choosing the options that are relatively bad. That makes sense.
Actually, the only "bad choices" you can pick to get more points is to:
1. Say that the old woman is annoying.
2. Agree with Adachi that Nanako should cheat on her homework.
Other than that, you can get extra points for:
1. Agreeing that being alone is nice.
2. Invite him for dinner.
3. Say that Yu is a good cook. xD
4. Say that Dojima doesn't complement Yu for his handiness. xDD
The rest of the choices doesn't matter.

The first hint about him being the culprit is his social link , the Jester, one who play a fool, but isn't ( unlike the protagonist, who is of the Fool arcana)

There’s also this trope where the clumsy character somehow does something super helpful by the end and everyone cheers him up for that, but Adachi happens to be something else.
The little touches added to the game with a maxed out Adachi are immensely significant.
The on the ground talk, the additions to the letter reading, the bigger, better understood connections between the protagonist and antagonist--
the roots of his misogyny being revealed-
most of all, that intense and powerful 1 on 1 talk in Mayumi Yamano's room. That's drama, yo. swinging camera angles and everything. Gun raising animations.
I love Adachi as a villain because of two main reasons, the first is that you would never suspect this clumsy and bored man to be a psychotic killer, and the second reason is because he is the only villain in the persona series who isn't a God that tries to destroy humanity because he was really bored that one Wednesday afternoon. That is why I love Adachi both as a character and the villain of this game and am hoping we see more characters like him in Persona 5 and onwards.

I honestly wish Adachi wasn't the big bad, because he's the kinda person I could imagine myself being good friends with. He's cynical and borderline psychotic, but he does occasionally show a gentler side and cares for those close to him in his own way. That's why I love what P4AU did to him. Episode Adachi turned him into the kind of character I really wanted him to be.

I'm not trying to defend what Adachi did, but I really wonder why no one talks about his really really gentle side he shows here many times to yu and nanako? I was kinda really sad when I found out that Adachi was the big bad :/

Adachi was every bit the psychopath that was behind the murders, he just needed to be reminded he didn't have to go through life alone and hating everything because of a feeling of boredom

I know a lot of people like to say "this villain wasn't evil" or "He's just misunderstood" but Adachi spelled out exactly why he did the things he did. He was bored. That's it. He even joined the police just so he could legally carry a gun. And the nice soft side he showed in his social link is just him acting. He is manipulating people into thinking he is a nice person.

The hunger arcana: a maddened person who wants attention and power, for selfish and ridiculous reasons. They usually talk big and put on a tough act infront of enemies

The funny thing after reading up twitter character analysis and theories, one that stood out the most was how teddie and adachi could be related. Both teddie and adachi shadows reference nihilistic beliefs, they both make lame ass puns and are goofy, and they both lonely as hell which is shown in how Teddie could track down adachi without a clue like he did for the others. Shadows are normally the repressed side of an individual or collective commonality. Teddie is gentle and friendly, while going off the clues from the game and anime about adachi he suppressed his positive side with cold hard logic and bitterness towards life to protect himself
Shadow Teddie is also Ameno Sagiri (Adachi's manipulator). The voice of Shadow Teddie in Persona Golden is Ameno Sagiri's voice, and Rise even told of a great presence interfering.

I feel as though P5 tried too hard to be P4 in the story department that they mirrored a lot of things, especially the whole malevolent god watching in the background trying to bring forth the desires of humanity... only instead of it being a god it's just the will of the collective conciousness.
Then you also get the Akechi/Adachi parallels.
Yet they didn't mirror the social links or "Confidants" which to me while still great are lacking especially for the high bar P4 set. You just don't celebrate things with your friends that often and even less so with your love interest.
Not to mention the back and forth time jumps that take you out of the experience of being the protagonist EXPERIENCING things because you're constantly knowing you're just looking at the past and it's so disjointed.
But at least you can be an asshole and dick over the world with a Adachi smile on your face unlike Persona 4.
Well this is how the Persona series works so...
Persona 3 and below did the same things with the whole "God bringing forth the wishes of humanity".

His OG social link(were you need to progress your self) only foreshadowed that Adachi has issues with abandonment which was why he even advanced on Saki+Mayumi and ended up killing them because he felt like they abandoned him for someone else(Namatame) even if they didn’t know each other/weren’t close....that’s what he did with the old lady he was a tad upset when she left

I maxed out my stats on my first playthrough and I maxed out good amount of characters too like Eri, Naoki, Sayoko, Athletes, Yumi or whatever her name is, and Shu. I just beat the game for 2nd time 2 weeks ago and I only maxed out the guys that I didn't do on my first time and of course my party as well so i can get my 100% Persona Compendium. Do you know where I could find max social link guide? it seems to me that it's impossible to get everyone maxed out on any playthrough because The Fox quests are so annoying
***** It's not.You just need have all your characteristics maxed out,so you can start social links without restrictions, and have some good personas registered in the compedium ( Like someone with Megidolaon and victory cry so you can wipe out random encounters and win bossfights easily ).There are plenty of guides on the internet,you just need to search for them.I never played p4 golden myself,but I did make a 100% run in the original p4,with the help of a guide.I also created some pretty good personas,fusing those that I had created on my previous playthroughs.

Adachi is inspired by Touta Matsuda from Death Note. Since Yu is inspired by Light Yagami from the same anime, you know there's going to be a problem since Matsuda was the responsible for killing Light.

Little Note, but the Jester arcana is the only social link not based on a real one (unless you interpret jester as the flipped version of the fool/the second Joker like they do when translating playing cards into tarots, but that would have been on the nose and revealing likely). Meaning the link and bond you two share is not even real
