He probably does the tutorial beforehand then films the puppet to match what is being done on the screen recording, it would be almost impossible to do it with those lil puppet hands
I recently got my hands on Ableton Live Lite from Splice and I love it. I am 15 have been producing for like an year, and It didn't take me long to learn how to use Ableton. Made my first beat within 3 hours of installing it. I tried to learn it more and I found the effect rack. Not gonna lie, this is the best thing in Ableton. Just wanted to say, you are the first person who has explained it this well. Thank you for this tutorial Mr. Puppet (I hope I am not being rude, It's just that I don't know your name), I have learnt a lot from you today. Much love♥️
Reid you don't know me but you are important part of my learning process. It's like I keep coming back to you for advices. Maybe it's one sided but you are indeed my close friend ❤️
Wow, beautiful track, man! Racks are awesome, thanks for the tutorial! I use Ableton Live since version 5 and Racks are one of the most genius things which they came up with.
I think I've watched enough of your videos to the point where I really have to tell you how much I appreciate your teaching style. Teaching within it's own is a tough skill, and you consistently nail it. Love this channel and yourself!
When I watch this video, I feel ashame to have bought so many plugins. Ableton has wonderful effects, you just need to watch Stef's tutorials to understand the full potential of what you've missed :). He is a genius
I've been producing for a year and 5 months now and I've learned so much by watching you and I must say it was pretty easy to learn once you have that drive
First off, you're channel is literally the best thing in my life right now. This tutorial was really helpful because I wanted to get into creating some more racks but wasn't too sure on how to get them really clean like you have your products (EX.Waves Vocal Sauce). Just seeing you're approach and the way you broke it down was very inspiring and helped it click a little more in my mind so thank you.
WOW! I'm only learning about this now being built into Ableton. Definitely a powerful tool - probably the main selling point when compared to other DAWs. No wonder there's a trend with all these new rack plugins.
With these straight forward tutorials and consistent hard work that you put in, there will definitely be a lot more subscribers to come no doubt. I dont like having youtube notifications on, but you are the ONLY youtube channel i have it on for. Keep it up bro
I really enjoyed your tutorial! I was really sure that it's gonna take me a way longer time to figure out how to play with audio effects rack! you made it very simple and fun to watch! thanks! i'm really interested to watch the rest of your videos.
One thing to note is that when you stack the effect in a chain like this, the audio sendt to lets say, the echo fx's, is the dry signal going parallel to the other fx's. So you will not get the amp signal going in to the echo, but the audio signal before all the other processing i.e the dry signal.
hey reid, your videos encouraged me to use the effect rack more and more in my productions. they are awesome, thanks for that :) the one thing i struggle most with is how a drumkit should be tuned so the elements sound good together. so, when i want to build a drumrack for myself out of different samples - what should i take care of? thanks in advance! chris, realest fan in the game (together with your other fans)
That Guitar Sounds Awesome Reid!!! Do you mind sharing what instrument that was as in was it a guitar from ableton or a third party such as a library from Kontakt? Awesome tutorial! Thanks again Bro!!!!
A bit late to the party but anyway. That Guitar Open was pretty good. It didn't come with my Ableton 11 though. And I couldn't find it anywhere. How do I get it?
Hi Reid! Love your tutorials. As a Cubase user, I would love to know how to accomplish this effect too. Would you know if there is an alternative for other DAWS? or perhaps a third party plugin that can emulate an effect rack like this one? Thank you and keep up the great work!
@@ReidStefanMusic i agree. i tried it and honestly, it feels completely broken compared to Ableton's audio effecet rack. There is still nothing out there quite like it.
@@ReidStefanMusic thanks so much for the response. Damn if that's all we have then i would its worth a shot. Maybe a tutorial for this plugin for non abelton users?? ***cough*** ***hin**t* ;)
Hi if I wanted to compress the audio effect rack signal with the original signal where would I place the compressor ? Inside the audio effect rack or outside after the rack ?
Dumb question but when you have the combined Wet signal for both Amps turned up full, would that become twice as loud as the Dry Signal at full since its two Amps delivering their own Output? Thanks for any explanations
So, is this acting like an insert? Like, would the volume change as I blend effects in or are the sounds being layered onto the track therefore still leaving the dry signal intact.
@@animanoir It's "Guitar Open" under "Guitar & Plucked". I don't believe it's included in the Intro Version of Ableton, but it definitely is in my Standard Version. The Amp he uses is included in Suite, but you can also buy it as stand-alone plug-in on the Ableton homepage for 79 bucks.
Can you change the min and max values of the knobs? It would be nice to just crank knobs and not necessarily have to worry about getting it perfect on 80% wet or whatever
Is there a way to automate entire effect racks at the same time? For example, could I automate a fade from one audio effect preset to another preset, or even entire audio effect racks? As far as I can figure out, the only way to do so would be to automate each value separately. I know the answer is in this video, but I can't figure it out.
I have ableton intro edition and my audio effect rack does not have the expand buttons down the left hand side . Is this a fault or limitation of intro version.? I cannot find any info on the ableton site or in the manual. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks
@@ReidStefanMusic But it sounds totally bland coming out stock for me. Did you do something to it before we get to this video? Still a noob here so probably will figure it out at some point later. Just thought I'd give it a shot here. Thanks.
The fact that you're so attent to detail also in manoeuvring the puppet is GOLD. You made it turn when the cat was moving!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Guys like you and Underbelly are the main reason why I watch tutorials on RUclips.
Underbelly is the shit
Wowzers!
I definitely haven't been using racks enough
Amazing. An analog compressor/EQ vs. plugins only on vocal comparison would be the realest thing ever

Everything here is quality. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Wtfffff I had no idea you could drop whatever instrument you want into the chains selection. So much layering possibilities.
7:24 really feeling that drop yooo

nice thanks for this great lesson !
Damn the thing about dry/wet is freaking cool. Never used enough the map functions in Ableton. Also never used a lot LFOs with Map.
hey reid would love a video/short explanation in a video of your favorite use cases for the fatso :) great vid as always

Bluecat's Patchwork plugin is the closest thing but it's not nearly as simple to use as ableton's audio effect rack

gain amplification with these - how do you tend to manage it? With 6 effects racked, it can get quite loud. Do you reduce each one by a set amount?
Same problem :
I got the same problem, i Selected all chains and reduced the volume until it dont clipped anymore.
7:23 ayyeeee 😂🤣
Hi if I wanted to compress the audio effect rack signal with the original signal where would I place the compressor ? Inside the audio effect rack or outside after the rack ?
Thank you! Can you also route them to a send?
Does it divide the volume in half everytime you duplicate it or does it add to the volume?

thanks sir

Hey Reid! Can i create a audio effect rack using third party plugins?
Thanks :)
awesome
so i noticed the midi channel on the top matches the guitar, is it just a one shot? what did you do for the guitar?
Gold
Trying to do this and map the rack to the knobs on my Launchkey is one of the most frustratingly unintuitive experiences of my life.
What version of Ableton is this I'm assuming you need to upgrade from lite to use these features
Oh damn, I've been using Live wrong this whole time
Great guitar sound. I have Ableton but not that sound.
yeah, really nice. which preset is it?
@@animanoir It's "Guitar Open" under "Guitar & Plucked". I don't believe it's included in the Intro Version of Ableton, but it definitely is in my Standard Version. The Amp he uses is included in Suite, but you can also buy it as stand-alone plug-in on the Ableton homepage for 79 bucks.
Hmm I have Ableton Suite but can't find that sound. Strange...
Do the effects play together all at once when they’re in the effect rack? Or does ableton read them from up to down??
I honestly don’t know what would be of my producer life without you btw just wanted to add that, thank you.
Can you change the min and max values of the knobs? It would be nice to just crank knobs and not necessarily have to worry about getting it perfect on 80% wet or whatever
Yes you can, its a macro edit menu just like the keyboard edit, right click on the macro and set the values parameters in the edit menu.
Is there a way to automate entire effect racks at the same time? For example, could I automate a fade from one audio effect preset to another preset, or even entire audio effect racks? As far as I can figure out, the only way to do so would be to automate each value separately. I know the answer is in this video, but I can't figure it out.
YOU AUTOMATE THE FUCKING MACRO HELL YES
I realized it's much easier to map the speaker button for that purpose, that way you can use more than just two effect racks on the same track.
Every chain will double my sound, any solutions for this?
Why doesn’t having so many parallel signals cause phasing issues?
I have ableton intro edition and my audio effect rack does not have the expand buttons down the left hand side . Is this a fault or limitation of intro version.? I cannot find any info on the ableton site or in the manual. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks
Intro is extremely limiting
noob question but is that guitar track a stock instrument or a vst? :D

Can anyone pls recommend any vocal packs for vocals like in this video?
why i dont have this guitar open in my ableton?? 1:43 ..I use ableton 9..is this upgraded version thing??
where do you find the vocals?
How does this differ from just twating aload of effects on one channel?
This is more visually organized. There’s a lot of FX within the rack
4:06 how do you do the fade?
what mouse is he using?
