  • This is my first review ever so please bare with me! , i have made a simple review for a gadget that i have purchased for my Toyota 4Runner 2014 Limited Edition named "Project Polar Bear". The hudly has some great features which i am currently using on a daily basis, but for every pro there is a con, and there are some things i didn't like about the product hoping hudly will hear me out
    UPDATE: The unit mount is really bad .. i have been trying to make it tight not to fiddle around but sadly the screw is not able to grab the ball prety well so @gethudly try to make a better mount.

    I have the Hudly Wireless as well but there are too many cons at the moment for me. 1) they have no support for any Google phones, and the mirroring will not cast from devices that are over android 5 or over iOS 10. So basically any modern mobile device that has the processing power to not freeze or overheat while casting and multitasking cannot use the Hudly. 3) the mount sucks. Mine broke in two days from being left on the dash and the screw heated up and cracked the plastic. I received a replacement. When Hudly fixes these issues they will sell more HUDs. As of now though, the requirements are too restrictive as most people buy phones every two years, and Miracast is not standard on android devices since Google stopped supporting it.

      Yeah, i have the same problem with the mount. I received my Hudly a while ago, but had no time to install it until today, as i opened the Mount packaging i noticed it was already broken...
      While casting my phone to Hudly and using the app i'm only able to cast one gadet at the time because two of them don't fit properly on the hudly screen, i'm using the iPhone 8 plus with actual iOS (12.1.2), both of the problems are very upsetting

    Am I wrong about what I am seeing? Aviation HUD's like this come in the form of flip down devices like a sun visor. Why would you want something that obstructs the view of the ground?

    • @AmjedAlM
      @AmjedAlM  5 лет назад

      Well it doesn't obstruct the view in daytime since the brightness is pretty low which u can look through it .. hence i use it for my extra gauges and off road navagation

    Hey, im looking to buy one but im wondering where the focal plane of this HUD is, does it appear as if it is far away in the distance, or at the end of the hood of your car or does it appear like a normal tablet but see-through? love to hear from you -Pete

    • @AmjedAlM
      @AmjedAlM  3 года назад +1

      Hey pete... well i have been using it now for the past 2 years ... well you can keep it as close as you want .. hence you can keep it in the middle, or infront of you ...however it looks as if you are reflecting your phone onto your windshield but crystal clear looks.. and daytime even better the reflection becomes brighter with the sun reflection!

    • @TheArdpieter
      @TheArdpieter 3 года назад +1

      @@AmjedAlM So it does not appear to ''float'' above the road as some other HUDs do? would you recommend it after having used it for 2 years? im mostly concerned about the durability and focal point of the unit. if the focal plane is not in front of the car i might look at other budget options like the Eanop M60. thanks a lot for your reply!

    • @AmjedAlM
      @AmjedAlM  3 года назад +1

      @@TheArdpieter well in terms of durability... its been on and off for the past 2 years under 30 to 50C tempreture.. and works fine the only issue sometimes is whenever the wifi signal gets stuck with the casting .. requires to unplug and plug it back in ... other than that .. it does the job .. navigation wise and vido wise it gitters abit ... but other than that it depends for what you will use it ... maybe u can get the smaller hud or wait for a new version which i might get an update soon from the hudly team about it

    Did you notice the very slight case bowing or warping alongside the left hinge area, where the screen meets the case? You can see this at 5:20 in your video. Mine is the same. Interesting.

    • @AmjedAlM
      @AmjedAlM  6 лет назад

      Yes thats true ... it is a semi curved glass its not that flat

      @@AmjedAlM Sorry, meant to say that the plastic case is bowed slightly up and away from the LCD, the glass is flat.

    The night screen is WAY too bright. Very distracting for driving. It should have been shown in night mode dark screen.

    Can you use your phone internet while mirroring

    • @AmjedAlM
      @AmjedAlM  6 лет назад +1

      Yes you can .. once you connect it .. if you kept it on standby and you have the wifi enabled ..the wifi connects and disconnects your data from your phone.. so it is a must to mirror if you have the device switched on
