      @@fomoco173 the manual calls it the hi/reverse for some reason. Weird to me. I'd call it the direct clutch in my terminology. Spec is 0.021"-0.041" and mine is at 0.073".
      I'd noticed some light burning on the old clutches so it would have been too loose causing a long upshift. I now have 3 drums to choose from though so once I clean them all up, I'll stack the same clutches and steels into each drum with the thickest reaction plate and go for the tightest measurement or closest to spec I can. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

    What fluid do you like to use in the C6? My 1989 Ford Bronco has the C6 and the dipstick says “use Mercon” but I can only find type F and Mercon V at wal mart

    • @dazeofgloryshopworks5806
      @dazeofgloryshopworks5806  Год назад +1

      I like to keep the same fluid that was put in a trans, but when I can't find it, I'll use a universal Dexron/mercon mix. Usually a dexron3 will be available. If you read the back of the bottle, it should say somewhere which fluids it's compatible with.
      When I rebuild them, I'll go for a straight universal non-synthetic fluid I can find at a reasonable price. Usually an "ATF +4 is my go to for that. The rebuilds don't have anything for special clutches and unless it's clearly marked on the rebuild kit, any fluid will do. Thanks for your question!

    You need to get one of those couplers that have a rubber seal inside and it will stop a lot of that air leaking in and around the coupling then of course your air compressor won't come on and off so much
    I got mine at harbor freight but I'm sure any place that sells air compressor parts will also have those

    • @dazeofgloryshopworks5806
      @dazeofgloryshopworks5806  Год назад +1

      I had the system perfectly tight. Wouldn't drain a drop of pressure... 15 years ago. Haha. But my guns are well used now and they bypass a lot of air. Also the air system for my paint spraying has a couple seepages. There's about 150 or so connections at that system. But I am redoing it now as I moved to a new place. Hoping to get er air right again. Thanks for checking out the video!

    Questions I have a 1986 f250 4x4 6.9 idi diesel c6 transmission. Internally what is different. This is my first diesel c6 I'm building. I have experience with c4,4l60e,4l80e and few others. From what I understand they have more clutches. I do heavy hauling alot of 4x4 4low and hi because I work off road logging and cutting firewood. What upgrades and kits do you recommend. It shifts fine no issues other than when it's cold 30° or under it likes to warm up it won't go in any gear till it warms up or you start to reve up the engine slightly

    • @dazeofgloryshopworks5806
      @dazeofgloryshopworks5806  9 месяцев назад +2

      Hey, so, the diesel version is as you said. A couple more clutches and it'll have a slightly different valve body. I'd check with tci or another performance trans manufacturer to see what kits they have available specifically for the diesel version. I have not torn into one so I can't say for sure but the extra clutches and slight changes to the valve body are all I've come across. As for not moving in the cold right away, I'd recommend a fluid change on your trans first. A mid grade synthetic fluid would be my recommendation. Nothing too pricy but the synthetics work better in the colder temperatures. And it'll give you a chance to drop the trans pan and look for any abnormal wear as well. Keep me posted please!

      C6 are supposed to have a metal identification tag bolted to the servo cover on the side of the trans. If it's not there, I believe you need to count the input shaft splines and the output shaft splines and look it up online. I haven't had to worry so my knowledge is lacking on that side of things.

    I have a very strange acting FE C-6.
    It goes into gear fine, forward and reverse.
    It moves forward and reverse but acts like the breaks are hung up.
    If I put the car in neutral, I can pull and push it back and forth with no resistance.
    Does the FE have a " hill hugger " feature ? The transmission moves the car, but also the transmission is holding it from moving at the same time.
    What's going on ? Any idea ?

    • @dazeofgloryshopworks5806
      @dazeofgloryshopworks5806  5 месяцев назад +2

      I would say you have an issue with it applying two gears at the same time. Like one set of clutches is not quite releasing or one set is engaging before the other releases. Usually it's a worn out seal or piston lip seal not doing its job properly anymore. Couldn't pinpoint which exact component but my bet is a piston seal leaking pressure.
