- The Relync R1 isn't the fastest or flashiest electric scooter, and that's totally the point. It's meant to help people who have minor trouble getting around. It has a top speed of 8 miles per hour and a range of about 18 miles, and best of all, it folds up into a compact luggage shape. Prices on equipment meant to enable disabled people has always been heartbreaking and while this is too expensive also, i'm sure tech will deliver more and more affordable tools like this one in the near future. Great initiative from the company who built it IMO. It's nice to see other stuff than toys for rich kids at these things.

I like it. The only thing that would have made this slightly better is if a smaller set of secondary wheels could fold out in luggage mode so that it can become a walker.

The front motor can be purchased for like under $100, the batteries yeah they might cost a few hundred and production and shipping costs might bring the total to somewhere around $1500 max. So I think they're asking for a lot, also that things slow as walking I don't think thats a good thing; what if you gotta get somewhere fast?
Alex C like he said in the video this thing is aimed at mobility scooter which typically only goes 5 mph or 8 km/h, and those things are not cheap either usually 2k+ for mid range models, so no you wouldn't get this thing if you wanted to go fast but the target audience probably won't want that anyways

Not me! Can't use a taxi to go through large malls or hospitals. Still need a mini van and Bruno lifter if you have a bad back or broken bones and that's expensive too, but I couldn't do without mine. These small scooters are a godsend!

It can be rolled like a regular luggage roller with the handlebar at the top, you can also pick it up from the top.
Yes, that is hard for old folks but most scooters are even harder tgan this one.. I have a Bruno car lifter and the Travel Scoot doesn't even have to be folded at all if the very light seat is removed but still the hooks that have to be done or undone from the lifter require bending. That's the toughest part.
Believe it or not, most handicapped seniors can't even lift a simple walker out of their car because there is no pully device invented for that, which is why people switch to scooters. Even a good walker costs about $500 Cdn and it's not nearly as versatile as these scooters! Believe me, small but fast comfortable scooters are the best things ever invented!
Love these types of scooters. Most are way too big to shop in stores with. I'm actually looking for one with a good seat and headrest though. Does this one have lithium batteries? How fast does it go? Wish they would sell more of these types of scooters in Canada.
yes, it has a lithium battery, you can choose 1 battery or 2 batteries. The travel range is 30km with 2 batteries. We already sold the scooter in Canada.

I agree re the speed but some countries don't allow for higher speeds, I would like one that would go at least 7 km an hour but 5 km is pretty fast in a store, plus even that can hurt someone quite badly when seniors first use them and haven't yet learned that they pretty well have to stop at the end of every aisle to avoid hurting someone.

How will this help anybody when it has no place to even store a small purse and which disabled person is capable of actually folding that thing up when they're done driving it? Seems like a poorly thought out concept to me...
And it has no back support on the seat. That cuts out the majority of people in the market for a cheap mobility scooter.
$3,600 is not affordable. Make it under a grand then this will be more attractive.
So far the Travel Scoot is about the same cost, and was the best thing I ever purchased! Just need to find another now with better back support.

As a disabled person, no thank you. First, I'm 5'10 and that seat looks hella low. Its also really small for any plus sized bums. I cant alwaus bend down, so the folding part would need to be more accessible. If your mobility aids are prescribed you can usually get assistance paying for them, in case anyone's interested. At least thats my experience in Canada. I'm sure this is good for some people with a little more development.
I wonder if these people have any concept of what it means to not be able to even walk to the bathroom without losing your breath. I wonder if these people have any concept of what it is like to be homebound as a Vietnam Vet having served his country yet being left in a bedroom with only me to care for him. I wonder if a company like this understands what this scooter might mean to someone like him. I wonder if anyone cares. In the UK, depending on 'class' of scooter, speed is limited to a max of 8mph on road and 4mph on pavement and road use is only for the larger 'class' unless pavement use is not available.

When I search for 'mobility scooter', I'm presented with a bunch of options from $700 to $3000.
At $3600 it's ridiculous.
You get what you pay for. A $700 scooter won't have the options of one more expensive. Even a well made walker in Canada is about $500!
