    Once you find a good song...
    1. Listen to it constantly
    2. Obsess over it
    3. Listen to it even more
    4. Get sick of it
    5. Find a new song
    6.repeat
    This song is my next victim >:D

      There's nothing negative about heavy metal or black metal. People just believe what they want to believe and always think the worst.

      There was some research done which found that heavy metal actually has *relaxing* overall effect on people. Heck, and for all I care, it's upbeat power music for me - let's get some things done! Lyrics tend to be on the WTF side, though (especially compared to the mood this kind of music evokes in me).

      thank u for not being like a lot of people who shove religion down other people's throats. It makes me sick, so props for being nice about it. Like my brother found a quote online: "It's not God I hate, it's his fan club." So true. And yes this song is good. (DISCLAIMER: by fan club, it doesn't mean anyone religious, just the ones who throw it in everyone's face, and say God or else, and stuff like that. Be proud that u r religious, but don't be a tyrant with it.)

    This song is about facing your inner darkness and becoming a better, stronger person as a result. It seems to allude to the concept of the Anima in Jungian psychology, especially the lyric "Dark maiden taking hold of my hand, lead me away from hibernation, strong and unafraid".
    According to Jungian psychology the anima is an entity within the mind that acts as the gatekeeper between the conscious and subconscious in the male mind and is represented by a female figure associated with night, darkness, mystery, and emotion. (Women have an equivalent called the animus which takes male form.) To access the anima/animus (to stare into the night) is to look into the parts of your mind normally hidden in the darkness under the surface, and bring them into the light of conscious awareness.

    Children, metal is not all about being heavy. Music, all in all, is part of every life form, your heartbeat is the notes. It really doesn't matter what "genre" you call it, it matters if you enjoy it. Dive into the night and forget about comparison. You will really find yourself enjoyable. For me the night has shown many things that I couldn't see during the day.

    I was raised a Catholic, but at a young age, I questioned its authenticity, and I wondered what a concept of a Heaven may be. I then realized that the right hand followers are nothing but slaves for a deity that does not exist and has no power. I then read LaVey's works, and it was ironic. the Infernal Names, The Princes of Hell, the names that I had been taught for so long would strip me of power, allowed me to give myself the power to be free. Free of the right hand path. And I then asked, why do these names that have for so long been taboo, helped me so greatly? I have found my answers, but this song reminds me of those times. Gives me nostalgia perhaps.

    • @watergurl1000
      @watergurl1000 9 лет назад +11

      I like your comment, Coausti. I was raised to be a conservative Christian, but Christianity always felt like a prison cell. I never enjoyed it nor felt like I had a close relationship with "God". Religion strips away your autonomy and teaches you to fear asking questions, and to hate reason and logic. I feel like I'm free for the very first time, now that I have found myself brave enough to question it all, and to investigate the lack of evidence for "God's" existence, and found myself to be an atheist.

    • @darbagg1537
      @darbagg1537 9 лет назад +4

      Personally, I don't see how most Christians don't come to the conclusion that you have. But you have broke free, and you're one of the few. So I respect that very much.
      I respect an atheist born into atheism, but I much more respect an atheist born into religion.

      Coausti Wyatt Hey, thank you so much. It really does mean a lot to me. I'm not used to getting that kind of reaction. I try to reach out and find like-minded people whenever and wherever I can.

    • @darbagg1537
      @darbagg1537 9 лет назад +1

      watergurl1000 No need; continue doing as you are, and I'm certain that you'll find a community of like-minded people. I found the Church of Satan, perhaps you'll find something else. One thing I do see is that religion is dying, and atheists are growing. So finding like-minded people will only get easier.

  • @Venator12345
    @Venator12345 9 лет назад +1

    One point I would like to make: That is the way children learn anything. Their parents must show them, and make them until they realize what the natural consequences that come from not doing so(or of doing so in twisted cases). Similar as a parent makes a child eat or take a bath. Once the child is no longer a child however, I feel the adult should be able to rightly decide what they will do in the future(As a disclaimer of sorts I also believe the adult should respect rules that other adults, like their parents, set up in a place their parents own). To be completely clear I am not for forcing religion or mindless worship either. Your faith is between you and God, I believe in presenting the truth and leaving God to do what he will with the words he uses me to speak. I am grieved by those who practice Christianity(yes I'm Christian) out of pure blind obedience of flawed men. That said our parents did create us no matter the circumstance, the least we could do is bother to listen to what they say for the first 18 years of our lives, and have faith they have our best in mind. I hope that gives you something to think about.
    P.S.: To all others: The song may not be intended to be religious but if we choose to take it as so(As it does speak to truths in our lives.) then I feel that should be respected. Songs are left open to interpretation right?

      1xXxIceGirlxXx1 If that's how you feel then it's good that you have moved passed it. Metal shouldn't create stress and bad emotions. It should do the oppisite and remove those things - that's at least what they do to me :)

    Next to Queen, Disturbed is my favorite band. Their first 2 albums The Sickness and Believe are amazing.

  • @Slitherslayer96

    The guys are with god, but the song is actually about embracing madness, darkness, burdens, not to give in but to embrace difficulties that are inevitable. This song is highly inspired by religious writings. The song ,like most disturbed songs, can cover many areas but all linked to the same idea. Anyways if you want to know the lead singer is Jewish by blood and religion. While Dan the main guitarist is a big time catholic. The other two members are unknown.

    I know that David is a Christian Jewish and speaks Hebrew in the song Stupify! In the song The Animal he has Hebrew written on his head. I looked up the word from Stupify and it means "Be Afraid " His voice is beautiful in so many ways!

    This song is about contemplating suicide, not religion.
    "Give in to the night" = give in to the temptation to kill oneself.
    "In a world beyond controlling" refers to feeling overwhelmed by life and events out of your control.
    "Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?" = once again, referencing suicide as an escape, or a savior, if you will, from this ;world beyond controlling'.

      uuuhh no. of course you are free to interpret it that way, but david draiman himself stated, that this Song is about the night becoming a higher power, protecting you from all harm happening to you throughout the day

      "Speaks about the night as this entity thats a freeing sort of a thing, that liberting force as opposed to approaching it from the typical perspective of darkness which its normally spoken about. Almost celeberating the coming of it."
      www.disturbedpedia.com/indestructible.html#thenight
      You can google for some interviews if thats not enough. But still, every one is free to his/her own interpretation of a song.

    You can look at this song about bullying, bullies try to control who we are. The savior is ourselves, we are the one who can decide to tell them to leave you alone. The night is who we are inside.
    Music is about looking at it, and deciding what it means to YOU.

    ALL music is a form of expression and is a release of energy from Country to Classic to Death Metal that has a positive impact on the mind and the body. It's a matter of what you relate to and what your in the mood for. To say it's negative shows you haven't tried to understand it. To say it's not your cup of tea is very different.
