Just thought I’d mention that, yes, I’m aware the lizard will outgrow this tank. When he gets big enough he will be going in a 5.5 gallon, then possibly even a 10 gallon if need be. Since he is less than an inch long, this tank is just fine for now.
He also really needs a hide since he is nocturnal.
He will need a 25 gallon tank eventually
No he will need a 10
Do they grow their tails back because my cousin picked my house geckos up without asking me and I came back to find the tail on the table moving? Please help!!!
@@lifesalunareclipse3789 they grow back
when u feed it the first cricket and when the music just came up again I jumped
I did the same thing!!! It scared me!! Lol

Same
What’s funny is I read this comment mid way through the video and still jumped😂
I got a mini heart attack lol. It’s scared me so bad shshhsuxkdkdhywhxn
Great set up on the tank and I like the camera shots definitely gonna tell all my friends about this video!
@@Cxmlw yeah i think hes prob one of his friends
That gecko is a lot more chill than mine.
I just did a tiny boop on her head and she went all running like sonic
The set up was so nice! I think the gecko likes! Thank you for uploading
I like how your tanks look really natural
Looks nice & clean! You could get rid of like, half of that coco fiber substrate in my opinion. Since they don't dig and you don't have live plants, which btw plants love coco fiber 🙂if you do decide to add plants. Make sure they can handle full sun! Aka, the lights.
+Soo assuming you DID take out some of the substrate - & even if you don't - another thing to think about (in MY opinion!): personally I would try to fill all that empty visual space, in the center, with TONS more climbing structures. Wood, logs, vines, etc. Vines can be either store bought or DIY; there are videos on how to make them. Just use hemp twine & silicone, dusted in cocoa fiber. Let dry. Also I always thinks it's good to add anything from smaller sticks to larger, longer wood pieces; the aquarium section, of most pet stores, have decent selections usually. My bad man, sorry if you knew that. Haha. If you're gonna find your own natural materials, make sure you boil them on a low heat for like half an hour. Again!! My bad if you already knew all this!! 😆
Also what works well - PVC tubes that they can climb on, and hide inside of (without getting stuck of course..), anywhere from 1"-2" wide. The smoother plastic texture makes a good contrast and enrichment for them, to experience different materials to grip onto, and to feel ambient heat differently. All materials absorb the light and heat to varying degrees of course. Many of my animals love that one special rock in their tank, under the light; lol, obviously rocks collect the most heat... the PVC is best in the cool end. I found these fake "bamboo" sticks at the pet shop, that I realize now are just fancy pvc pipes 😂
I just got one. I have basically the same setup as him but I got a “repti-shelter” that I filled with moss as the cave but he won’t climb in it. The coco fiber is a bit moist and if I grab a handful a lot of water comes out. Should I get a new cave seeing that he doesn’t like this one (I think he’s too small to climb in) and is the coco fiber fine or is it to wet? Also I got medium crickets but he won’t wat them. Are they too big for him or is it because he’s stressed he’s not eating? Should I try getting fruit flies instead? The heat pad feels like it’s warming up enough but I’m not sure if it’s actually hot enough (could be because of the wet substrate)
It's great! You took good care of the new pet. Oh, happy tiny gecko😘
Really cool setup! I found one in my house and didnt keep it cause i dont have money for a setup for it but was curious about it. I also love that the lizard ate the cricket. I keep seeing comments on reddit saying that the geckos will refuse to eat if taken out the wild and will die of stress and will have diseases. I just find that all to be overdramatic. If you get it proper stuff it needs and feed it and maybe bring it to the vet for a checkup to make sure it doesnt have disease then it'll do great
So not true. I talked to a lizard expert. Researcher in lizards specializing in gekos. He said they're the laziest of all lizards and if they have food and a warm place they could care less. They're like feed me and I'm happy.
@@mellie4174...thanks for the info because I keep finding eggs and so yeah I'm wondering about doing something exactly like this but if it's even possible!!!
You cleared that up for me, thanks!
I was expecting the lizard launching for that cricket. Startled me
When he is full grown he will shed and he'll have trouble with his toes but if you put him in Shallow warm water for 30 minutes it will loosen up and help him or her
So i saw the previous video and now im so invested in your channel
This is a very i mean very good tank setup and i think you will need to upgrade once the gecko gets bigger.
I just got a house gecko! So she’s in a temporary house (its a bucket) until I go to Petco. She is VERY active. She hates being picked up but loves climbing on people. She is a baby so i’m gonna put her in a 3.5 gallon. But I know she will outgrow it. So i’ll upgrade her
Even though I’m a little late, you are supposed to put the brick of dirt in a big bucket. Then you get how much dirt you need.
(You don’t need to do this, this is just a way so it’s less messer)
here in greece where they are native to they survive at temperatures below 6 degrees Celsius, even though they are more comfortable at temperatures around 25 celsius, you don t need a heating mat
this is so cool. today I found a baby gecko and I’m gonna do the same thing as you. the baby gecko seemed really attached to me it was so cute 🥺
I'm sorry but when you synced up the gecko eating to the music I CACKLED
Same
Same!
Make sure the heating pad doesn't start a fire especially if it is close to that cardboard or anything else that might be flammable.
Steven Stoles that is a 4 watt heat mat,it won’t start a fire of any sort
House gecko are everywhere at night
you should put a rainforest background I'm sure your gecko will love that and if you do then please do a video on it.👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
I caught one a few days ago and goodness they’re so precious
You really should hydrate the cocoa fiber or sphagnum moss in a different container and then squeeze the water out like it's a sponge and then put it in the tank
Yes been waiting forever thank you Carson bro great set up 🤗

My mom found a house gecko and my bf found one (she thinks one of them is a leopard gecko) so hopefully a 10 gallon tank is better then a 1 gallon size kitchen tub dish..
when the gecko caught the cricket the music scared me.
So I Got A Asian House Gecko, He Is Just A Baby And Thanks For The Tip, I Like This Video I Am Subbing
I recently got a house gecko and he's doing well. I've had him for 5 months. He lives in a ten gallon tank and his name is Seagan, but I have two questions:
1. He won't eat crickets. I've been giving him jelly, but I understand that that isn't a substantial diet for a house gecko. When I try to give him crickets he's scared of them.
2. He had some stuck shed awhile ago. Since then I've given him a bath, but his tail looks a bit deformed. What do I do now? I can't find much information on these online and vets are all closed.
Mine wont eat crickets either. But he loves his crested gecko diet. I also give all of my geckos flightless fruit flies
try feeding him already dead food, small crickets in a can are like 4 bucks on amazon!
They also eat months thats there fav food
Try giving him the “Pangea gecko diet with Insects”. Or any gecko diet which comes in a dust, you mix it with water and make a paste like substance.
the tail thing is probably just it falling off i don’t know. a lot about house geckos but it probably won’t come back
Finally a young fishtuber who knows what there doing
love the vids keep up the amazing work
Found one in my yard and got all the same stuff, he won’t eat the crickets though
I like your setup. I wish I would have thought of that before I did what I did
If its not a bother, I'd like to know how is the gecko since this time?
Ive got a few questions
1 do they really need a source of heat if you already have the sun and youre house is at room tempreture ?
2 can i pair up a man and a women and do i have to expect them to have children and lay eggs ?
3 how long is the lifespan of a house gecko ?
Thanks alot for the help!
3 about 15 years 2 never put more than 1 together they will try to kill each other 1 yes A heated lamp is way better than a heat pad or rock because it will burn the bottom of the lizard And I know this isn’t one of your questions but don’t feed it anything bigger than it’s head
Jared Herrman Jsjshdh can you explain to me why a heat lamp is better than a heat mat? Thanks
Do they burry themselves cuz i can't find my anywhere???
@@jaredherrmanjsjshdh3172 never I say never use a heat rock
@@adrianaames2009 , he just explained in his answer - an heat pad might burn its belly.
Also, bear in mind to keep the heat souce ( the lamp ) out of the enclosure in order to prevent the gecko touching it and burning himself.
Don’t know if Pet Smart told you but these guys will likely not drink from a bowl they drink dew droplets in the morning so mist a side of the tank just a bit with a plant mister every morning 👍
Just some reptile FYI I was president of Atlanta herpetological society for many years so like to give info if I can help out 🦎
I recommend twenty gallon for something that for something like that of republic like that
That is one happy gecko! Nice pad you got him 👍🏻 So happy to see Sheldon too
Crickets. I only see big black crickets here in Texas
Also if it is close to something like a wall and is too closed in and can't breathe enough it can over heat and there might be a greater chance of it starting a fire.
Nice set-up. I can see you put a lot of work into it, but I wish it was at least a 10 gallon so that it will feel like it has a large area to explore, if he is going to be kept as a pet. Also, he might get lonely. :-/
Stl in the house
Is that a glass tank and if it is does the heat mat still work effectively through glass
it does still work. definitely could be better, but that also could be because i got the lowest wattage there is
Hi appreciate the reply, I currently have a plastic tank as he’s only a baby but as he gets bigger i am going to upgrade him to a glass tank, I have a 15w heater do you think that will be sufficient for a glass tank (sorry to ask these questions it is my first gecko)
@@jordanlayfield8975 lol 1 year and he hasn’t responded
I caught 4 this summer, now I'm down to just 1 :/ most of mine seemed to have had an issue during shed and just gave up on life ;/
A bit late but make sure your gecko eats all the crickets because otherwise the cricket could eat the gecko
You sound like you just came back from high school in the afterlife
My son found one in a 🌶 box at work. Clyde is now family. I'm confused as to the environment for his house. Mediterranea is hot & dry from what I've read, not tropical. So, yeah, what IS the appropriate environment? Atm, I have him in a quasitropical--I can't seem to get it hotter than 75 degrees in the tank. He never walks on the ground! I have moss for substrate--we're in the pine barrens--but he hangs up at the top all day & all night. He hasn't eaten for a couple of days. Should I be worried? I think my crickets were too big & I left them in the tank which I found out was a no-no. Anyone that can help with info would be greatly appreciated.
You could take Clyde out and feed him in a separate container, but make sure to keep an eye on him. Leave him in there for about 20 minutes with his food and take back the ones he didn't eat. A vertically positioned encloser is best and make sure there is enough hides and enrichment, such as plants, things to climb on ( besides the walls of course ), and maybe some sticks or a small piece of driftwood. And just because of their name, it doesn't ALWAYS mean they are from that area. I suggest cocoa fiber or mulch type dirt mixed with a quarter and a half of sphagnum moss and possibly some sand that takes up about a third of the space on one side of the encloser. Try your best to simulate the environment you live in, in his encloser as long as his species actually lives in that state/country wildly. As for crickets, stick to feed that would fit in the space between his eyes. I think not eating for a couple days is kinda normal but still, try to feed him every day. I hope this helps!
eyyyyyyy posted on my birthday, but i am replying 1 year after
Oct 13 is such a cool birthday! Spooky season 👻
@@BabyMango oh mine is actually 14 but thank you
Hi 👀 my cat chewed on a house gecko that she found outside, and the tail broke off. He survived!! But he has a bloody tail, and a few punctures on his body. I have him inside in a makeshift cage so he can hide and recoup, but what should I do with him? Do I take him to a vet, or do I allow him to hang out here til he is better?
Wait shouldn’t the heating mat be on the ground? No hate just wondering
they can go on the bottom or the sides. i have a ton of substrate & it not a super strong heat pad so it wouldnt be very effective if it was under the tank
A lamp works much better.
666 Reject you don't use lamps for geckos and lizards
Graxxy ??? Yeah you do majority of lizards/geckos use heat lamps or uvb bulbs like a bearded dragon which needs both geckos too need them day geckos use both as well not all lizard use heating pad the only lizard/gecko I can think that uses a heat pad for heating a leopard gecko but than you still need to get a heat lamp to raise arid temperature
What else can/ will they eat? My crickets die so fast
I wouldn’t want to be that cricket at the end
where do you get your tiny crickets?
thank you for letting me know that it is a tropical species i have it in a desert theme

Hey bro nice setup they love rotting branches. Make sure the crickets are real small. Glad you take good care of these animals. Sad he lost his tail but glad you saved it. It’ll take a couple of months for it to grow back. I have 4 of these things they are so cool. I have a colony of 3 because they got in my house (I think they’re all related).
Ye I’ve got 15😂👍
You mind giving me some tips? I found one in my kitchen about a couple weeks ago!
@@maricruzvillanueva4544 Sure! Just get filtered bottle water or tap water that’s been set out for 24 hours and put it in a mist bottle. Go to pet smart and get small crickets. They like it humid , because they are from the Mediterranean. For the set up you can use 10 gallon tank. Walmart has them for $14.
Do you have an update vídeo?
I'm an herpetologist and I live where this species occur naturally and I've been studying it since 1990.
Mediteranean House Geckos cannot be kept in humid environments, since it is not their natural kind of habitat and, because of that, will die from respiratory illnesses. Also, this gecko species is not to be handled because it hates it and can loose its tail very easily.
The enclosure must mimic a wall environment ( not a garden or a grassland ) so they can feel more at home and ( that way ) reduce their stress levels, adapt to the new environment faster so they can start eat well and live an healthy life.
Also, there must be a shallow water dish ( from which the geckos will learn to drink from ) and should not be fed on mealworms.
Adicionally, beware of caring for young geckos, once they're much more sensitive and less resistant than adult ones and therefore more prone to die. Specially under the conditions provided as shown in the video.
P. S.: Mediteranean IS NOT tropical. Its climate is like California.
If anybody is willing to teach people to take care of other living beings, one must think and act in a responsible manner and not playing with a serious thing ( which is taking care of another life ) just because too many people think of themselves as experts on any subject they make a RUclips video about.
Actually it’s in Australia not California
Hey since you know so much about geckos, I was hoping if you could answer my questions! Can these geckos climb? I caught a baby one my dog was about to eat, and I have it in a 20 gallon long without a lid. It was actually a spare fish tank. Thus far it hasn’t climbed? I’ve noticed it can only climb rigid surfaces with bumps on it. So can I keep it without a lid or will it escape or shall I look into a new tank with a lid. Also can I feed it the same gutloaded crickets I use for my tarantulas.
Awesome
Where did you buy the heating mat?
He is so cute
Just found one of these boogers outside I want to keep it as a pet I think they're cute

did he consume pet's food as a launch?
Get you a crested man
How much was that whole set up and what do u cover the top with
Did you put a lid on the tank?
We found a house gecko in our bathroom, we put him in a little terrarium but he's not doing well. We've been putting pieces of mealworm in the tank for him but we don't know if he's even eating them. We were told by someone at petco that he doesn't need any special lighting, we don't have a heating pad for him or anything. We figured if he usually lives outside then he would be alot colder anyway. I want to release him but I fear he will be too weak to survive outside . Should I give him some live food? Someone Help!
Try feeding him live crickets. If you have tweezers than dangle the live cricket about an inch from the geckos nose. Sorry I'm late!

Supposed to put heat pad under the tank and why didnt you pick a gecko with a full tail ? He's a little cutie tho...
Well, he catched it, they lose their tail but regenerate them, but I caught mine with a tail
Only when you slightly pull the tail
hmmm.. I have no way to keep mine warm so i just let mine go
HOW IS SHELDON 😫
Mediterranean house geckos are arboreal I would recommend something taller
Heat mate ment to be underneath
Mediterranean geckos don't like high humidity. So, water spraying twice a day is not only unnecessary but, also, dangerous for him because heat and humidity leads to increase in bacterial infections.
Moreover, a back wall with dark hidding crevices put in a way that won't fall over him is absolutely vital to reduce his stress levels and have a good place to rest well enough to provide him a good health.
If all of you want to know all of the right information and advices on how to care for this gecko, just Google for "Hemidactylus turcicus", "Hemidactylus turcicus care" or " Hemidactylus turcicus care sheet" ( or "Geckonidae" for this reptile family ) and you'll have all your answers in the right way. Try different sources and make use of your analysis and thinking.
Just don't trust any unexperienced, unwise and/or unprepared youtuber that just thinks he's qualified enough to teach you something he's not even sure about yet.
Im asian so i now allot about these geckos and i dont think you now this but theses geckos eat varients of foods espesially stuff that can fly

Do not use a heat mat with a small tank and arboreal gecko! Heat mats are ideal for terrestrial geckos like leopard geckos. Also you absolutely need a thermometer when using a heat source of any kind. Lastly geckos need a place to hide or they will become stressed and may refuse food. Pet stores are not the best places to get reptile husbandry advice unfortunately.
the eco earth looks like dog food
Tiki
Oh my gahndi, that tank is WAY too wet... mediterranean house geckos/turkish geckos/ hemidactylus turcicusis not meant to have such wet conditions. If it stays too long that way they can develop respiratory issues and/or fungal issues. They also don't normally drink from water dishes. They lap water droplets from whenever you mist the tank, though a water dish can help with humidity. You will also need calcium/vitamin supplement to dust his food with.
This is what I was thinking too, that hide looks like a tiny swamp.
smh he put to much water lol 5:19
