    So, can we say "apparently" is more or less equivalent to "looks like"?

    • @RobertTeachesEnglish
      @RobertTeachesEnglish  10 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good way of thinking about it. "It looks like we can't go home yet." "Apparently, we can't go home yet."
      I would say the difference is with "looks like," the speaker is usually making a guess based on evidence he or she just encountered.

    Hi can you explain what is the word compromise i dont know how to use it.

    • @RobertTeachesEnglish
      @RobertTeachesEnglish  Год назад +2

      It's when you are making a decision with someone. Neither of you get what you wanted originally. Instead, you compromise and choose something different.
      Examples:
      Someone tries to sell you a car for $12,000. You ask to buy it for $9,000. You both compromise and the car is sold and bought for $10,500.
      You want pizza for dinner. Your wife wants Chinese food. You compromise and get burgers (something you both enjoy).

    Ok for not confused can I say, obviously is possible thing.and apparently is for negative thing what I mean by that when I say these. instance( they love pizza, obviously yes.( they don't like pizza) apparently no(. Tell me if I am in the right direction teacher please 🙏..

    • @RobertTeachesEnglish
      @RobertTeachesEnglish  2 года назад +1

      We can use either for positive or negative. If someone spits pizza out, they obviously don't like it. If I hear a rumor that someone loves my videos, apparently they love my videos.
