Tom Stoppard's time-warping comedy "Arcadia" is back on Broadway. Tony winner Billy Crudup returns to the Stoppard classic (in which he made his Broadway debut in 1995), this time in the role of braggart academic Bernard Nightingale. Set in an English country house in two different time periods, "Arcadia" explores ideas of truth through the lenses of history, mathematics and physics as the lives of the modern-day residents are juxtaposed with those of residents 180 years earlier.
Raul's accent is bloody brilliant!

We really enjoyed the recent Bedlam production of this, with all its complexity and references to chaos in math and also human relationships.
arcadia was the most confusing play I'd ever watched but it was still really good

Oh God I can't stand how the actress portrays Thomasina as such an annoying little brat--it completely dilutes the meaning of the play! Thomasina is the true "genius of the place", and the only one who doesn't let her arrogance in the way! Her musings of Euclid and god should be just that--musings, said in a soft, thoughtful manner, not presented like statements of absolute truth! I think the actress is taking rather too many cues from Bernard...
Emma Fielding who played her first also put on that extreme speech impediment.

Does anyone know if the marvellous 1993 BBC3 Radio Broadcast of Arcadia (which featured the original London cast including Bernard Nighy and Felicity Kendal) will ever be available on CD? I've been trying to find it for YEARS but no luck! Please help!

I am in the same boat as you. I keep hearing how brilliant this play is, but no recordings of a performance by anybody (beyond an expurgated high school version) seems available anywhere.

I'm not sure about the rest of them but Raúl (one in the red jumper) is Cuban american
Oooh my gosh how intelligent the girl Thomasina is... She so open to her tutor... While her tutor is misguiding her she finds the mistakes of her tutor and she asks her not to explain the wrong things to her.... She wants her tutor to explain the fermat's theorem and the other scientific things when her tutor is explaining her about the carnal... He always talks with her about the love and romantic feelings... As she is young she wants to know each and everything what she don't know yet.... She is the only intelligent girl in the play....
the actress who plays Thomasina is english.
Thomasina does not appear 16. She is not portrayed a I imagined :(
I wish that for once in a production, they would cast an actual age appropriate actress for Thomasina (13 years old in act 1, 16 in act 2).
Thomasina's English accent sounds way too forced..
Raul's accent is not good.
