  • Many thanks to Nicole, Dr. Sharpe, IWS, the Navy and everyone who assisted in this rescue!❤️️
    Viewers of the remote Bald Canyon camera installed by Dr. Peter Sharpe noticed that one of the three BC chicks fell from the nest sometime on or before 4/22.
    The nesting tree is located in a canyon on San Clemente Island belonging to the Navy. The nest is about 10-15 feet off the ground, surrounded by a thick underbrush. There is no sound at the nest due to the Navy's requirements.
    Today on 4/24, Nicole was able to hike up to the nest with assistant, recover the chick and place it safely back to the nest. It appears the chick was fed at some point during the adventure as they did a very healthy PS (Poop Shot) shortly after being reunited with the siblings ( 13:36 ).
    One of the parents flew back to the nest as soon as Nicole and her assistant left the area.
    You can support IWS and their Bald Eagle restoration and monitoring program by participating in the Nest Adoption Challenge: www.iws.org/ne...

    Thanks Cali for the update and a million thanks to all involved in the rescuing of this precious eaglet. I'm sure that it's family is grateful and thankful as well to have it's baby/sibling back in the nest. Thank goodness that the heavy underbrush is there and prevented a tragic ending for the precious baby. We all can breathe and relax much easier now all thanks to the excellent Teamwork of all who intervened out of love and concern for God's Creations. Beautiful Ending!

    Thanks Cali---read the comments(35) below and my Q's answered as well. Chick in very good condition, indicating parents tended to it in 3 days on Gnd. Spunky in Nicole's hands--and surprisingly was size of a chicken--Indicating it used it's wings and tail to Parachute to softer landing. Nicole positioned several curved good sized limbs for outside Nest Rails on left side(until a better arrangement can be made in Annual Nest Maint. trip.). Good video for me as i have faulty signal at times --and this rescue was one of those times--So a God Send--Thank you again.

    This story is ammmazzzing!!!.. this just goes to show that there are still great people doing great things in this screwed up world!! And the eagle parents couldn’t get down to the baby so they kept dropping food down to him!? Ur kidding me right???, our wildlife can probably teach us some things..the institute people gave the baby a checkup, and put him back in the nest while the other 2 siblings slept through the whole thing..UNREAL!!, CuDos to the work these people do , real miracle workers! I am a hard believer that animal abusers and any humans , in general, that dont know how to interact with and cherish the beautiful life on this planet don’t deserve to be part of the human race.. the laws need to slam down on people who mistreat our animals like they do with child abusers..honestly..there is no place in society for it. 🫶life

    This is so heartwarming. What great caretakers! Now I'm hoping somebody can fix the sad line entanglement going on at Dale Hollow.

    • @boomerv7291
      @boomerv7291 Год назад +3

      @sallyosburn6389 I hear ya regarding Dale Hollow. First the littlest eaglet dies, then Dad is missing & the 2 remaining eaglets will probably not make it. River has attempted to free 18 somewhat, but now they're both tethered to one another & it clearly states that they don't intervene. So unless enough people stand up & speak out these 2 eaglets will probably die a slow & agonizing death. So this is how we keep the eagle population thriving. I know it tells you to not watch if it is upsetting, but if there is no intervention in tended then shut the camera off all together. But I guess some people can handle it. This is really a tough one. This year has been another sad one concerning other nests already. Thank God there are people who care at least at this nest. Thanx to all involved.

    So greatful for this rescue, however I do have a question. With the eagles hooked beak how come they can't pick up their babies like a kitten or puppy?

    • @michaelhalahan
      @michaelhalahan Год назад +3

      In a simple phrase" it's the way nature made them". Racoons, Possums, all kinds of cats(Domestic and Wild)Bears other wildlife with regular mouths and feet-- all can and do use that way to carry young --because of necessity. Nature designed an eagle's beak and feet to rip apart and carry Prey to nest--Where for the most part, Young Eaglets will stay and grow to adults--Although its reported frequently, it's (overall) rare for an eaglet to fall from a nest, and need assistance--If So, parents will feed it and protect it there until it grows up & fledges. Same for Owls and other Raptors built the same way.
