We need more reactions on this fabulous movie! I love it so much that it's hard to explain, it's a strangely comforting movie to me. And it's so CAMP! Which makes Elizabeth's performance perfect - I don't understand why people hate on her in this movie. She is perfect for the part, and so is the Goddess herself, Gina Gershon.

This movie is a riot (until it isn't 😬😱). I find it to be high satire, as tends to be the case with Paul Verhoeven's movies.
Omg that’s what I took from this movie as well!! An erotic satire which is my speciality especially since I’m a writer who loves writing in satire, also I know a lot of people dislike A24’s “Spring Breakers” for many many reasons which I can totally see (even though the movie isn’t perfect) but for me besides all the crap that happens in that film I look at it also as some type of satire which made me love it

I'm glad you liked the movie! It's pretty wild. I think I might know every line... It really takes a turn in the last quarter, but I'm glad Nomi gets some revenge in the end.
The revenge scene didn’t go far enough IMO, cuz the guy was still alive afterward, and the security guys who also took part in it didn’t get their butt kicked at all. They could’ve done that scene way better

This movie is definitely a cult classic, acting is so so and yes the male characters leave much to be desired lol but I love the commentary Jessie and as always it's like watching with a friend:-)

Verhoeven made three movies in a row where you couldn’t identify with the characters. The first was starship troopers. The second was show girls. And the third was Holloman. This destroyed his career.

I really like this movie. I grew up in the 90s, and back then, Jay Leno had a lot of viewers and he shit on the movie for laughs, and buried this movie with his pull. I thought it was a bad movie because he said it while i was a youngster, but when i watched it as an adult, and as someone who has been to vegas, i really like this movie, so much i wanted to own it and watch it more than once.
Plus, circa 1995 was giving looks!!!💯 Seriously, like 1995 to the really early 2000's was a whole vibe in general. But the hair, fashion, make up and etc was a look. Like, can't nobody rock a leather or plaid look like the 90's.😂💯❤️

This movie was so unfairly trashed and maligned. I heard about it and when I saw it on cable, I was wondering...where was the bad movie that everybody was talking about? It goes to show how people instinctually hated female nudity and sexuality without bothering to see the context it was in. And this film actually had a very subversive message that many people, blinded by boobs and sex, overlooked: The American Dream is a lie sold to us by the Powers that Be.

I really loved your reaction to this cult classic. I watched this movie constantly on VHS when I was a teen in the mid-1990s lol. I mean, you know, it's hard to really form a coherent opinion on the movie. It's bad, but it is a complete satire--nobody as talented as those filmmakers could spend 3 months making this for all that money and imply that it's serious lol. The rape scene gets a lot of flak today, but it's all part of the satire of what goes on in this kind of world--the entertainment industry. Certainly the industry in the 90s. All the men are toilet waste for a reason. For people who like this movie, we actually love this movie. It just took so long for its cult status to show up because I mean, no social media until like the late-2000s. 2:20--I nearly spit my drink out when you said that! Ikr...this movie is way funnier than it portrays itself to be haha.

I don't like that scene either in show girls.
Fabulous? No. It’s an Epic Failure of HUGE proportions. Every character in this is overwritten and overacted. It vilifies women for no reason except to pad the very loose story. Does the Vegas show make any sense? No. Nomi is angry, bitter at a 115% in every scene while her co-stars are confused and have little room to breathe out their dialogue. The sex scene in the pool you glance over, and the best scene in the film, the rape scene, you put a warning over. It’s the best scene because it’s the only scene that puts anyone in danger or punishes them. Then there is that lame “revenge” scene that serves no purpose whatsoever. Vaginal tears, and she’s in a near coma? How is that possible if she stumbled all the way downstairs? Fabulous, no. Exploitation, yes.
