@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio absolutely! Your characterisations are great, and the colour and expression in your voice bring out the meaning of the text almost perfectly. I love Chesterton and I’ve been disappointed with some readers. Your worth is exemplary. Thank you.
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I had some professional training in “Reading out loud” while training for ministry a million years ago. There are things I can’t help listening for - you tick almost every box. 😊
Amazing! I love how casually macabre this one is. Thank you for reading this for us. It is always such a splendid treat to hear your voice narrating the familiar lines of Father Brown.
Great start to a Sunday. Thanks Greg. It’ll be interesting to see if I become as invested in Chesterton’s characters as I am with Holmes and Watson, but I certainly like what I’ve heard so far
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio cheers. What a fantastic coincidence that another one should pop up. I’m Listening to these slightly out of order, but I’ll get to the one you just posted next
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio Ya You’re the best Sherlock that’s for sure! I listen to them over and over It’s 98 and 70 percent humidity in Florida today 😂 🥵
I didn´t know this story and I shouldn´t have listened to it because I almost threw up and it gave me nightmares 😞 Could you please include a warning that this story is a bit gory, like you did with the Murders in Rue de Morgue? Just last week, we had news that Russian soldiers do exactly this... what´s described in the story... to their Ukrainian POWs. They do it while the POWs are still alive, and take an awful long time to do it. They even record themselves on videos and are proud of it. Mystery stories are no longer fun when news of something similar give your refugee neighbours and co-workers PTSD 😞 God, those kind but empty staring eyes! But it´s an excellent reading and as far as I know, other Father Brown stories are a bit lighter. So - thank you and looking forward to more! Take care!
Brown is not sanctimonious according to my dictionary. In other words he is not 'making a hypocritical show of being morally superior to other people.' Is he? Mousy - perhaps. He's certainly quiet and observant but he acts decisively when needs be. Nicely read? You think so? I don't care for it. Cheers Angelino!
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio You’re right about the S word. I guess I mean Chesterton is the sanctimonious one. Are there Methodist, Episcopalian, Baptist, etc, apologists the way there are Catholic apologists (Waugh, Lewis, etc)? Sorry but: You’re wrong about the read, and I’m an expert! (Speaking of … Jeremy Irons doing Brideshead almost makes the ridiculous Catholic ending acceptable.)
I love this author's particular penchant for artful alliteration.
Yep!
Greg Wagland reads Father Brown!!!! What a treat!! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy!

Totally love your readings of these! Thank you so much.
Kind of you. Thanks NB.
Enjoying your narration very much Greg, thank you. My little bit of calm in a day of bonkers! X
I'd like to see Day of Bonkers as some kind of national holiday event. Could it work?
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio yay, if it became a thing I’d never have to go to work again!
I did not expect the ending at all. I do rather like the priest detective. Something to look forward to everyday.
I don’t usually care for Father Brown stories but your delightful performance has made me a fan. Viva Father Brown! Viva Greg Wagland!
Thanks Elaine. I'm really enjoying them, too! A change is as good as a rest!

Woohoo. Thanks Mr Wagland

Wonderful! 😃 🌹
Well, it's not quite as popular as Sherlock. We've got to start shifting those fridge magnets and the aprons. Is it hot yet in Fl.?
