This is why your channel is so important, marking the passage of time. It is nice to see a ‘roll reversal’ if you like. Instead of documenting decaying and neglected things of the past, you are now showing what could happen to those same things to preserve them for future generations. Another fantastic video Darren.

I remember seeing this every day in the 1990's as I drove into Leeds to work. It always looked sad, standing isolated amidst the desolation of the abandoned industrial sites to the west of Leeds. Looks like a fantastic job has been done to bring the wagon hoist back to life, surrounded now by modern buildings and a plaza. Well done to all involved on this project.

Nice one Darren, the thickness off the walls was amazing and the rubbing grooves from countless ropes from the waggons shows it was well used. Interesting that there is still a wagon hoist at Huddersfield. I recognise it now but never knew what it was (learn something new everyday). Keep on pounding those streets, Cheers DougT

I remember when the area was being demolished and thinking what a shame to loose all that history. It was only when I walked round the remaining tower I realised how huge it was. I am glad they made a museum out of it and will have a look round one day as well as the viaduct garden

There was a disused wagon hoist until quite recent times at the Bishopsgate goods yard in London. The depot was disused since it was destroyed by a fire in 1964.

Thank you for another eye opener on something and somewhere I knew nothing about.
It's quite amazing that it's still standing by the sounds of it. I wonder what happened to the demo company when the first hoist was accidentally destroyed. Nothing probably back then.
The law was finally tightened up after too many instances of deaths of workers because there was too much of a rush and too many
"Whoops! Oh well, now the beautiful façade has fallen down somehow, we could run with this plan the developers had up their sleeve..."

And as someone else pointed out the tangerine colour as BR called it was for North Eastern region signs not Eastern which was dark blue
When was the hoists at Central last used?
