    Born and raised right here in Santa Fe...it is truly a place to call home❤️I don’t think I will ever move either. New Mexico is one state that is never really noticed.

      Thanks! We love the Southwest, but haven't been back since summer 2016. Hopefully we'll be able to do a roadtrip there again in the next year or two.

    Thanks man for bringing me to Seastock Audio.. It's a relief i finally found a band, or sort of, that reflects the type of genre i always listen to.. they take inspiration from jonsi, arcade fire, phoenix, mumford & sons, florence and the machines, of monsters and men, jimmy eat world and the likes to name a few.. They create the best soundtracks for just about anything you could think of. Kudos to your videos keep it up!

      Shooting early in the morning or late in the evening. It was summer, so mornings were pretty early and sunsets weren't until 9pm or so.

    So I loved this video. I use it as my pitch to justify buying a drone for myself haha. I'm looking to buy a phantom 3 professional and I was just curious as to which drone you used for filming this? Also love the choice to go with 24 frames. Looks more cinematic than home video.

    • @BlueMantleFilms
      @BlueMantleFilms  9 лет назад

      I've got the Phantom 2, shooting on a GoPro Hero 4. I like it a lot, but it does have its shortcomings...biggest thing is that I have to contend with "jello" on a somewhat regular basis. My hope would be to upgrade to the Inspire 1 with the X5 camera, but with the new "Micro UAS" law possibly coming through in the next couple of months, I'm going to hold off...if it passes then the Phantom line of drones falls into the micro category, so I'd probably get a Phantom 3 Professional instead of the Inspire 1.

      I'd be happy to license some of this footage to you, but I do charge a fee for licensing since that's a portion of how I'm able to support my family while continuing to make/create these types of projects. If you'd like to discuss licensing, feel free to reach out to matt (at) blue mantle media (dot) com.

    New Mexico is such a unique and beautiful state if you go outside of Albuqueruqe. Very unique and different environments that are astonishigly close to one another, New Mexico has a bit of everything. Shame it's a poor state, but I guess that's also a good thing at the same time because it means that a lot of the beauty of NM remains untouched by government and corporations.

    Great job ! Maybe a grading tutorial ? :D

    • @BlueMantleFilms
      @BlueMantleFilms  9 лет назад +2

      Oh gosh! I will think about it, but I'd be a bit self-conscious doing so...my methods for color grading are mostly self-taught, which means they're probably not the most efficient nor the best methods, but they get the job done for me.

    • @_ybnn
      @_ybnn 9 лет назад

      +BlueMantleMedia yeah but they are so good for gopro footage ;) You use what ? Saturation / Curves / Color wheels and vibrance ? :)

    • @BlueMantleFilms
      @BlueMantleFilms  9 лет назад

      +CineDesign Films Actually, I hardly ever use those filters. I use mostly brightness and contrast in conjunction with a luma filter, on two otherwise-identical video layers. The luma key filter goes on the top layer, preserving the highlights, then I can push the brightness and contrast on the bottom layer significantly more than I could otherwise. When pushing the contrast (at least in Premiere) it has the effect of looking like I increased saturation. Maybe I will do a tutorial, because it's a technique I figured out by trial and error, but I've used it extensively for the last two years on almost every video I make.

      That's the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. They were so gracious...I hadn't asked ahead of time if I could film there, just showed up one morning and asked and they said it'd be okay. They're small gardens, but very pretty, so I do recommend going at some point.

    As nice as 4k is, I would rather have 1080 and 60 fps. The shots are beautiful, but the low frame rate makes it so twitchy.

    • @BlueMantleFilms
      @BlueMantleFilms  9 лет назад +1

      I got another comment like this recently, and basically it comes down to aesthetics. I decidedly do not like the look of 60fps...to me it makes video look like it's computer animated. I actually shot this video at 30fps, but wanted the film look, so edited in a 24fps timeline because that's the look I wanted for it. Again...aesthetics...so you're free to disagree, but I don't think you're going to be able to convince me that that 60fps is "better" than 24. :-)

      +BlueMantleMedia I found your channel by chance today and subscribed, my wife and I watched for two hours video after video on our big screen tv, we were overwhelmed by the great cinematography and editing. But after the magnificent Oklahoma video we watched the Sante Fe video and thought there was something wrong with our tv. I know it's your personal choice and have explained this, but filming in 30fps and editing on 24fps time line you are dropping frames and that's noticeable and horrible to watch on a big screen. Only trying to be helpful as an audience, nothing more. Kind regards, John

      Depends on the audience. I wanted to make an artistic but at the same time exciting and engaging video, so went for a faster-paced edit.
