As Dave said below, perhaps the foliage at that low altitude made the M3 more difficult to see from the Mini's POV. I've done this same type of test with my Mavic 1 and a huge Typhoon I have but at 30 feet in the air. Kept the Q500 hovering and ran the Mavic at it slowly in Normal mode. The Mavic spots it every time. Doesn't go around it, rather, it simply comes to a halt. Cheerio Mate from Calif.

Interesting test, just shows how basic and crude these 'obstacle avoidance' sensors are really on the 'higher end' drones.😮🤔
As pilots we have higher expectations of them to be super efficient and avoid every obstacle, in reality they rarely do.
I've been flying with 4 or 5 other drone pilots in the same location and the chances of hitting each other is almost negligible.
1 other drone with the pilot 500m away is not really a high risk of collision, it's possible but the odds would be like winning the lottery! 😁👍

Some of Ken Heron's crash videos have shots of the 1:1,000,000 chance of successful drone mating in 3 dimensions at altitude so it certainly can happen. Things seem to be exacerbated by the combined speed of closure at times which wouldn't allow any auto systems time to react, also the fact with panning/backing out shots not having visibility in direction of flight.
Auto systems may protect against of backing into big slow things like trees, but if they can already miss some less obvious wirestrike risk (against something stationary & not as obvious as trees) then it is not unexpected that something small & fast could easily outstrip the protection.
One of the silliest/most avoidable crashes shown was 2 people using the same take-off pad.... one drone landing in auto RTH at the same time as another ascending from take-off at the same time. The auto avoidance also wasn't successful there.

You might want to point out that if you try and fix damaged drones yourself it will cancel any care refresh from DJI. The classic was never going to move away as it was hovering. However the so called all singing pro 4 mist definitely should have avoided. But then as i have seen with other 4 pros don't believe the hype .

Side by side..... The left is during flooding. Look at the bridge pillars. Much of dirt in the water....
Your flooded area is much larger then the one I recorded some time ago, and today. Happy not living there. Floating houses are nedded...
Reading the tittle i wondered if You've got completely out of Your mind, crashing two drones (assumed 2 different occasions).
There are videos showing OA versus braking action. They were done towards a stationary object. Flying nose towards nose a crash is guaranteed. No braking action whatsoever would prevent a crash.
Never count on OA is my idea. Once got the red part cirles high up in the air and wondered what on earth the reason was. Still no idea.
Last Christmas I was asked to fly and make some recordings. Quickly the low afternoon light made the drone (Mavic 3 Pro) system tell: OA not available.
In darkness night camera mode was selected. The same message, OA not available in that mode.
The less of automatic functions one use and the more piloting, the better.
Some flying has been done in controlled airspace. When filling in the request form existing drone flyers are shown. Then its very satisfactory to here from air traffic control that there's air between us.
Last time 2 flights resulted in 12 phone calls with the tower! Several urgent helicopter flights contributed. The tower seemed to have got all papers flying around, and ending the wrong flight, my ongoing flight.... But we sorted it out... Those 2 flights have more to tell....
