- Walkthrough of Rimworlds 1.0 patch exclusively focusing on NEW FEATURES. 1.0 is still in the unstable branch of Rimworld, so tweeks and changes are bound to happen, but these features will stay!
This is the first video of 3 explaining the 1.0 Rimworld Beta branch patch, the 2 others will include adjustments fixes and balances.

Remember that the 1.0 version of Rimworld is still in the unstable branch (23rd of June) So changes will still happen! In addition to the new feature video I'll be uploading an Adjustment update video tommorrow and soon also others videoes showing the new raid designs, trading, diplomacy systems and Balances.

As someone who almost exclusively bases in mountains this is a wonderful change.
Blake Wester there is already a b18 mod that adds smoothing, etching and art etching
yea but its now vanilla, one less thing to have to wait for the update
woolfoma most people with mods will remain in b18 and a17,and there's still people on a14.There aren't enough mods on 1.0,and those that are warn you of instability. So in case he plays with mods I informed him there are mods for b18 that have most of the 1.0 features and are more stable,until the dev stops on one version and gives us time to catch up and make new mods that is.
Always either having a massive debuff or having to replace every single wall is so annoying

I was randomly generating a few colonists, and there was one with the new Great Memory trait.

Small correction: One leg with 180% efficiency and one at 100% will increase moving by 40%. The total efficiency of a body function takes the average efficiency of all body parts that modify that function.

I absolutely love how well the RimWorld community and Developer support communicate. All of these updates have been really solid. Worth every penny and more. Recommend to friends.

OMG YES! you can move your colonists at the top! it annoyed the shit out of me that it was in chronological order of when they joined! i always wanted to have all my ranged on one side and melee on the other ^^

It does have 64Bit now! It aint solving the fps drops if you have 60+ colonists, BUT you can have ALL the mods now! ^^
Iirc they removed 32 bit because if you're running 32 bit you probably won't be playing games

I think they should add colonist groups, which would act like folders that you can set general priority rules to, so that it's easier to manage your colonists once the colony begins to actually grow in size.

A little chunk near the end is a bit hard to follow once you accidentally activated the tornado and thus its sound early, but activating the sometimes silly closed captions helped a bit.

There’s no rain, but within the first nine minutes of your video (some of which you spent in pause) you had four Zzztt events. Let me guess: The Zzztt event has been bolstered.
Just checked, it started after the gentle snow started, so my guess is the snow triggered it ^^

Rimworld has finally reached 1.0! This video is still 99.99% accurate with the items and things ingame, since the release of the video and the full release of Rimworld, the only change is this: Food restriction system, you can now choose what type of food to give to animals, prisoners, colonists and guests, enjoy rimworld!
i never really got used to the game after they introduced the world map. Are we supposed to manage multiple colonies now because that seems really impossible?
The map is just for travelling caravans, the developers recommend only 1 colony. But you can have up to 5 (impossible to manage)
I sometimes have two colonies, because if I move, I'll usually do it in two waves (assuming my Colony is big enough). But one is definitely enough
Hey, 2 questions:
When auto-rebuilt, does a producing bench keep its previous tasks ?
Can producing tasks be accessed for "To be rebuilt" producing benches ? (for exemple, stonecutting gets destroyed at place A, great I wanted to rebuild it at place B anyway... To copy paste tasks, do you have to wait for the stonecutting table to be rebuilt at placa A and then copy to the same building at place B OR can you copy even from the newly created blueprint at place A ?)
It's been said before but I just want to reiterate that it's tedious to watch a long video with a lot of information if you don't keep it short and concise. Entire first min of the video could be skipped and for the rest of the video I watched in x1.25 or x1.5 speed. Try planning the video out a bit more in the future, remove stuff that isnt absolutely necessary and try getting to the point faster in general.

its good they add in many mods I like, but it looks like I'll still be getting 'prepare carefully', since I like the options it allows for starting a new game.

This is so much better than Banished. Banished goes nowhere and there is little to do. This is amazing.
Havnt played banished myself, but a lot of my viewers have, and we all agree with your statement, banished is good, but lacks replayability. Rimworld has insane replayability and randomness, and then all the mods available.
The only thing I care is improved caravan management. That's the only thing that sucks out the joy of Rimworld.
Drop pods are the future of caravans lol
64 BIT MEANS IT CAN RUN MORE MEMORY!
The game is a 32bit program so it limits the amount of memory it can run being upgraded to 64 bit makes it able to run with a lot more memory and thus smoother game play specially on the larger maps!
Having more memory does not speed anything up.
Not having enough memory slows things down.
So unless you were running out, you won't notice a difference.

TimidLeaf there's many a mod for that: buildable robots and Android tiers are two of the best.
I was thinking what if you could build Roombas and cats can ride them?
After hearing you say 64 bit support, I stopped caring about all the other stuff. This is going to be BIG for rimworld modding.
I love it when people defend bad game mechanics for the sake that they are realistic, but then no one bats an eye when you can dig up infestations out of not a cave but solid rock and metal,

Just commenting on the archotech leg...
I noticed in game (with the bionics mod) that having one leg with let's say a 140% part efficiency, will only increase your movement speed to 120%. Only if both legs are bionic, you will have 140% MS... I did the same stuff with arms and manipulation... It's the same. Whenever there are 2 parts of the body (legs and arms are the ones I found to be working this way) the "part efficiency" stat thing you see in the information tab, in reality, is halved (the percentage after the 100%, that is. Or below, if it's a peg leg for example...)

Can you dump enough bionics into a person to make them essentially immortal?
So I'm guessing this means I need to remove a bunch of the mods they're officially putting in so they aren't in the game's code twice or something, huh... shoot, there is going to be so much trial-and-error to see what mods I have are still compatible...

Dev could keep adding things. Even said himself the way Rimworld is, he can infinity add more features. The official 1.0 release is just a formality so the game is no longer "early access", even though the game is a fully functioning game with more features than most at this moment.
64bit means that it can now use more then 4gb`s of ram. atleast thats the most significant difference between 32 and 64 bit software system.
A lot of mods that I have installed are being added to the base game. That's cool. Still need to add Hospitality, though.
My friend told me to get Hospitality, but I don't get the point. I'm running a survival Colony, not a hotel!
So excited about the new stuff and new look! Any official release date?

Mass forbid... Thank God I can't tell you how many packaged survival meals got eaten at the table becuause I didn't forbid the stack fast enough.
Finally a 1.0 version, now that he "finished" game and all esential stuff, he can add more items and stuff in next update!

Its stable during playing yes, even in unstable. If you build a megabase taking half the map, then fps drops.

I've been away from Rimworld for a while now (since alpha 16 or 17). Could someone tell me if Tynan did a major performance overhaul at some point?
I hope so, because it really sucks how choppy it gets after just a handful of hours. Doesn't feel good, and it just sucks in general that you can't run the game at a reasonable speed between interesting events later in the game. Gets rather tedious. Not trying to dis on this amazing game but that's one of the big things I've been hoping for.
Hopefully version 1.0 also means mods will finally start to really stabilize and help that scene, because mods definitely are the longterm lifeblood of Rimworld.
It is in 64 bit now which may help with your performance issues a bit.
Ah yea I heard that. it could help - but unless he actually uses new 64-bit structures in a useful way it won't. Just recompiling in 64-bit is fairly easy to do and at this point computer history it's just becoming the norm, so it's hard to say.
I suppose I just have to get to testing it and find out :D

Without mods 3 traits, but with mods or dev tools you can actually get inifinit amount of traits (They will just not be visible) : D
