These new radios are quite interesting, I personally don't think I need an upgrade (I'm just using a turnigy 9xr on spektrum) but I can see who would buy this, it's good to see companies making these.
I just got a Jumper TS8G-V3 to replace my old Deviated Devo 7e. Fits me well, I got small hands . Got it on black friday, about $10 bucks more than TX12.
Thanks for the pinchers review commentary & for convincing me to convert over (no more 👍)!!! It was frustrating at first but it has helped me fly so much better!
@Seii-FPV I am with you. I tried to thumb in a video a while back...I think it was an emax video. I was so all over the place, it was funny and reminded me why I switched.
i tried hard to love my Jumper , but after fixing it multiple times, etc., I went back to my trusty DX6. The Radiomaster line look similar in quality and finish. That said, I really like the smaller form factor, and the buttons, etc. Good review Nick, not for me, but some out there will really enjoy this radio.
I have the Tx16s. Super happy with it, but if I would have just gotten started right now with the hobby I’d probably get this one. I have big hands and long fingers, but the entry point seems super good! Knowing Radiomaster, they will probably release some upgrades for this radio too, in terms of gadgets (maybe a metal handle like TX16s has now?). Really enjoyed the review Nick! Waiting for my friend to finally get into FPV, will definitely forward him this video and will suggest this radio to him as well.
Awesome review, Nick! 😃 I hope they make a TX12S as well, a bit more premium let's say. But... Well, we'll see. 😊 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hopefully they come out with a TX12S version with Hall effect gimbals and a full 4in1 multi protocol module, then it would be perfect. I’m still using my first “real” transmitter the Jumper T8SG+v2 and still love it, but it runs deviationTX. I’d like to tryout a openTX version of my transmitter to be able to try crossfire shot. Currently the Jumper T12 Pro is still the one I may upgrade to. Thanks for a great review, stay safe.
I have the exact same problem with the Mambo from TBS. I understand the thought process behind the button they use but unfortunately you can't disarm quickly. Or in an emergency type situation I find myself fumbling when you really don't want to fumble.
I've wondered for a while now.. why isn't a single manufacturer capable of matching the once low price of the flysky i6. Back when I got started the i6 was about 35$. 4 years later and our best 'budget' radios are double the price and not really more capable then the i6 still is. I mean - OpenTX is open source - low software cost - The protocols are reverse engineered (by other people) - no RND cost - hardware should get cheaper over time And ofc there are new things on this radio that the i6 didn't have. I like this radio a lot actually. And if it had all 4 RF-chips instead of only one I'd probably get one.. But I don't quite get the price point for the reasons I said above. Any ideas?
I came so close to buying one of the Frysky radios you showed but I stopped dead in my tracks when I found out no D8 mode! Alot of mine are D8 so I will just stay with my Taranis QX7 and T8SG V2 which I am slowly learning to use but I don't like the cheap feel of the gimbals. Plus I'm finding my T8SG doesn't really bind to a lot of my quads. So I don't really see the hype about this radio. Taranis QX7 is the best buy I've made since being in the hobby.
First, Nick I’ve been thinking of getting this and using it with ghost! I am now definitely going to get one!! I have fairly small hands and fly a lot of micros and need a compact radio so this is perfect!
Why did they not use the JP4IN1 multiprotocol chip..? All my quads uses Flysky, which is not possible with this radio. This is perfect for me, it's small, doesn't have a million switches, and doesn't have a damn TV in the middle of it (I'm talking of course of RM TX16S). I've also had my eye on the Jumper T-Lite, but I'm not sure if I want to pre-order from Jumper before people have tested it. Also, I find that the T-Lite actually has one or two switches too few. I'm used to having 5 AUX channels I frequently use, and T-Lite only has 4. EDIT: I see that it actually has EIGHT AUX channels. Hm, still lacks support for Flysky. I suppose it is possible to get the TX12 plus a separate JP4IN1 JR module, but then I might as well buy the TX16S for about the same price...
@@NickBurnsFPV Yeah, it was mostly rhetorical, that question=) It's a shame, though. I like cheap gear when it actually does the job. Thanks for the work you do, by the way.
Almost, but not quite. Shame it doesn't have full multi protocol support. I've been keeping an eye out for a small multi protocol radio with a JR bay and thought this was it... the search continues...
I saw a video/pics of their version of that form factor called the T8. In a word, fugly. A Betafpv lite radio 2 + Dirk Gausman screen mods would be much better.
@@Tokyo_Dom no, absolutely not. Why? The literadio uses SO sh!tty potentiometers that they just randomly stop working in the middle of the flight. Has happened to me 3 times already, and I'm not the only one. They've been breaking for many people left and right.

@@NickBurnsFPV Exactly. I was wondering if it would be possible to solder in the 4in1 and use it as Internal module while keeping the option to use the JR bay. Basically swap the single multi with the 4in1
Gday Nick, nice spare or backup transmitter, i would use it at the park for flying micros, its a handy inexpensive radio, i like the bigger transmitters but this would fit nicely in your backpack, great review good job mate.👍🛸

Wish they'd stop putting this style power switch on all the newer radios. At major multi-gp races we have to show that every quad's failsafe is set correctly. And that requires powering up and turning the radio off to show what the quad does. When you have 5-6 quads that you brought it is quite a hassle. Still running the frsky x9d because it has the instant on off switch.

I find it so disappointing this only has such a limited multiprotocol chip. All my models are DSM and Flysky which this doesn't do. I love the smaller form factor, my DX6i was far to big for my hands and my current fs-i6x is a great size. Tango 2 etc completely forgot to add trim tabs so not useful for fixed wing, hovers and boats. I just want something higher end in the smaller form factor. I just expect the TX16S will be far too huge for my hands :/
I'm looking forward to your review of it if you do one! Not sure the tiny screen will be good for setting up fixed wing in the field (probably not a big deal to most of your viewers!). At least it is finally a gamepad style radio with what looks like trim tabs! :) From the pictures doesn't look like it has any pots though :/
