I don't know Mr. Brown's personal life but what I see he had and has much to be proud of. I hate when things are over people try to be degrading to their legacy. I saw Mr. Brown show in 1968 and will never forget it.
Never really heard his music , until i watched the film that was amazing , listen all the time now , such an amazing voice full of soul and passion. Unique and certainly only one Mr James Brown.
He may not be. Man was a crazy lunatic who abused women, denied some of his children, had a very violent and angry demeanor, short fused temper kicked a pregnant woman down the stairs, had a serious drug addiction, was an adult involved with a 17 year old, etc....that's some of the things the public knows about.. imagine what we don't know..
i'm talking about this one at American bandstand talking to dick clark i've seen him performing in a lil clip of cold sweat but can't find it anywhere the full performance of him
I too would love too see the full performance! I've also seen the short clips that are available from that performance, he is singing Cold Sweat (at least I think so), he does a few spins and then starts dancing.
It was probably one of the very few Bandstand episodes from that era that exist on color videotape; the rest are all 16mm film prints in black-and-white. And except for a handful of episodes, most of 1969-74 Bandstand were wiped (1969 when they ditched the ABCish logo for the iconic "AB"). (By the way...a few years later, Dick Clark would return the favor, making a cameo appearance on James Brown’s short-lived syndicated dance show Future Shock)
What a great interviewer Dick Clark was. So soft spoken, he made people want to relax with him and enjoy the present time.
I miss him.
