and the crazy thing is there is! there's cooking, hunter, divination, and thieving tick manip methods, you can even tick manipulate in combat using magic, with 4-tick auto attacks
if anyone reading this wants to do shattered worlds to lvl55. do NOT use legacy. you lose all AoE and high dmg spells you get with your action bar andyou lose tons of exp/h.
I love how all it takes is 2 days of play to dispel so many of the myths about RS3 perpetuated by the Osrs community (most of whom have never touched the game). Microtransactions bad, sure. That is a valid opinion. But RS3 is a fun game with real grinds and engaging quests and pvm, too! The thing that keeps me scared from going back is learning RS3 seems sooo daunting. Maybe this series will dispel that myth, too!
Just cause early game is slower doesnt mean once you have good methods 99s wont start flying in tho? Idk ive seen some wacky rs3 stuff even eaely game some magic minigame idk if it was what jcw did but that vid guy went like 80mage on a fresh acc in no time etc, cant remember
@Pidbullz Equating 99s in RS3 and OSRS doesn't really make sense imo, because of the xp rate increases. 120 is the new 99. 200m is feasible in a "reasonable" time. Xp rates can get crazy, yes, but the end goal shifts to account for that.
@@serenaishere2639 so when he talks about maxing doesnt that mean all 99 and a maxcape? I would assume so even if some skills can go 120, maxing is all 99 and their goal, ans also the only thing to compare vs osrs
@Pidbullz Maxing does mean 99s! But I guess what I'm trying to say is maxing on rs3 doesnt mean the same thing in the big picture as on osrs. On some level, maxing on rs3 is just the start of end game. At least thats how it was when I last played, to re-max with 99 Archaeology on its release.
I don't know if you've done Violet is Blue and Violet is Blue Too, but those two quests give a lot of early game xp. Also get started on the non-combat Wilderness Flash Events. Not only are the xp drops amazing, but the rewards in salvage and useful early game items, like magic logs for fletching and chinchompas and black salamanders for ranged. Four of these five to eight minute events can net you up to 1 million gp just from alcheable salvage. Guarantee that this will fund your daily shop runs to help speed up vis wax and skilling supplies. Now that you have the ability to smith darts you just need to buy feather boxes (which are individual at each shop) to make fletching fast. Also look into getting the Ranger's workshop at Fort Forinthry. That will also help with the fletching grind. As a matter of fact, upgrading your fort will also help you to get prayer, cooking and herblore to max in the later stages of the game. The fort itself allows you to max construction without ever setting foot in your PoH. and the chapel serves as an altar with two burners that can stack herbs.
@williamadams5471 I did the quests and put the rewards on questing. Wilderness flash events are not allowed as a competitive GIM rs3, so we can't do them. Pretty much every Ironman guide I find stresses how good they are lol
This is nice. Just what I like to see to chill... And it's the best advert for RS3 tbh. How cool JCW and Evil Lucario 2 RS beasts in their own right I love in the same team hehe...
I feel like the wiki guide is not as good as osrs resources, i found when i was using it a few years ago on my iron that it wasnt up to date and neglected new methods that were better. For example, iirc it suggested hunting birds for early hunter, when you can do whirligigs for like 2x the xp/hr at least
Hard agree on this, thankfully i was able to ask my teammates about a lot of methods, but the game changes so fast that there were some things none of us knew about. At the very least I've been enjoying testing out the methods live.
The best tip I can give is spend a little time researching and setting up a good UI. The default UI is obstrustive and awful. Which is a shame because after some customization, you can have absolutely everything you need on screen at a glance without looking like its too much.
Awesome to see you're giving new rs3 a go! I used to blindly hate on it once EoC came out, but after trying it again a few years ago I found it more enjoyable than 07 surprisingly! The ironman on rs3 is a really good mix of a challenge without things being too tedious. Honestly, most of the newer 07 content that 07 players like, such as boss mechanics are straight rippd from rs3, yet theyll hate on the game 😆 heck araxor is literally an rs3 boss 😅
I totally agree. I do get that there are some things that people might dislike, but it gets far too much blind hate. While I don't mind it personally, I do think that treasure hunter should be removed, or at least there should be an option to disable it entirely and pretend you're an ironman. I think it's a bit too predatory and with how many gambling addicts there are in OSRS that would not turn out well.
Honestly even as an rs3 player with thousands of hours, I still like this video so much more than other videos just because I can actually see what is going on in the screen whilst watching on mobile. Curious to see your methods as i haven't really ever seen an ironman actually min max xp other than just normally playing it and just training with dailies.
11:35 there actually are a couple of tick manipulation methods but it is quite scarce. I'm not sure if it's still the best method anymore from 95 div and higher, but there's a place called Hall of Memories where you can train divination from level 70 onwards. It's basically like doing the daeylt essence mine (the spot you want rotates every ~1 minute) and gathering energy takes 4 ticks, but you can click the spot every 2 ticks to speed it up drastically. You did mention the cooking tick manip method, but there's even a cursed method where you can bury bones/scatter ashes while cooking and fletching, so you can essentially 0 time prayer training, but I'm not sure how relevant that'll be in an ironman mode
@James-vc1kc I heard of the div method, only been doing caches so far though. Pretty cool about the prayer, actually didn't know about that! The team will probably come up with a plan once we start seeing the supplies rolling in
17:11 osrs constantly adds content for the eary/mid/late game, rs3 near exclusively adds lategame content, and content that speeds up getting to the endgame. Though even with all the xp multipliers, some skills just cant compete with osrs tick manip and multi skilling without tedious prep work. Saying that, I don't believe a 31 day max cape will be possible, but then again, not many people have speed-ran max capes as an rs3 iron. --I think the fastest pre-necromancy was ~60 days playtime, and pre-necromancy and archaeology was ~50 days playtime. eg: Exp comparison at 90 wc OSRS: you can get ~222k xp/h at teak trees in osrs with the outfit(5%), knife, and a log vs RS3: you can get ~250k xp/h at acadia trees with the invention made outfit(12%), perfect juju potions(5%), woodcutting urns(20%), Crystalise(50%)+Lightform(+37.5% to crystalize), torstol incense sticks(2%), and skillchompas(+10% on success and +5% on unsuccessful skilling action). (excluding bonus xp that essentially just doubles that final number.)
The (fairly) recent changes they made to combat XP as well as overbuffing the fk out of early game mob dps was very poor IMO. Not a good idea to put speedbumps in the way of people coming back to RS3 and trying it out. It's one thing to neglect the early game, another thing to have actively made it worse.
Hey, there is one method of tick manip in rs3 like you'd be familiar with in osrs. Obviously the issue is nearly everything opens the make-x menu, but if you can get to high level herblore, drinking an adrenaline potion while on the legacy combat mode and having full special attack bar should get you that same effect without putting you on the adrenaline potion cooldown to allow you to drink it repeatedly and never actually lose doses of the potion (unless it's been patched).
Are the graphics on the lowest possible setting? This looks very offputting lol. Excited to watch some RS3 though, as I haven't really seen anything from that side since OSRS came out.
Replied somewhere else but just in case: Day 1 was really overwhelming with graphics, as I got more comfortable I bumped them a bit. Last couple minutes of video + future vids will be on Medium likely.
The thing about rs3 is that you can speed it up a lot with mtx, like treasure hunter for lamps and such things. Without it, its especially in the early game and as an ironman maybe as slow as osrs.
Great video, and agreed. Rs3 felt slower than old school - hence why i got turned away from it - was hoping for a faster paced experience with a runescape feel to it. Any idea why that is?
early game is slow, but it ramps up super quickly when skills get their "good" methods, typically anywhere around 60-70 for most skills. Some skills though are crazy fast from the start, like hunter with whirligigs, divination with caches for some examples
Can you make a video going thru all the ways you can use an alt to help your own Ironman? Such as for bossing to hunt certain items easier or quicker or skill methods? (For OSRS)
Almost everything in rs3 uses a texture mesh on top of their base color pallet. Playing in low detail is essentially playing without that texture mesh and turns the game into a blurry puddy mess. You can see the difference between low detail and mid/high detail at 15:00 and 15:07
As other comments said, I was playing low detail in most of the video since it made the graphics a bit less overwhelming. I did eventually switch to medium/high as i got more comfortable with the game. Future vids will mostly be medium detail, which "looks" a lot better.
As someone who plays and enjoys both, RS3 early and mid game is very very outdated particularly skilling wise. Combat/PVM progression was sort of fixed with necromancy (from ironman pov), but skilling/minigames/questing all feels very dated compared to OSRS. Lategame content is very good though - getting 200m in any skill is much faster than in OSRS.
Honestly it feels weird seeing you so behind for techniques. There's a lot of non publicized tick methods tbh since people don't want stuff patched in this game. 😅 Surprised I didn't see any combat cycling, you'll also need quite a few different pots to tick manipulate super efficiently in rs3, and dungeoneering has quite a few tick manipulation methods that don't exist on the surface world. Most people don't use DG but its got a lot of the sleeper best methods to train a good chunk of skills due to oversight by Jagex.
I'll be honest I tried it out and so far for skilling I haven't enjoyed it, but I know for slayer and stuff it's usually best to use EoC interface, I might change it up then. I did play around/change graphic settings throughout clips + future videos as well
