@@catman4471 After Ali had payout for an injury he bought gear for the band and they started practicing in 78. They hyped themselves up around Birmingham before they actually had done a gig.

There's one particular school friend who I completely lost contact with after leaving, and I have always distinctly remembered the conversation we had about UB40. But I left in summer of 78, and I'm a Londoner. I've often thought back on that conversation and never had any doubts about it until I saw this video. How peculiar!
