Mürren is a village of some 450 inhabitants, located 1,638 meters above sea level above a high cliff overlooking the Lauterbrunnental in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland.
It offers a wonderful panorama of the famous Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau trio as well as the entire Lauterbrunnen valley. As access by car is not possible, passengers and goods must be transported by funicular and train or by cable car.
Mürren has its own school, two churches as well as several hotels and a number of holiday apartments totaling over two thousand beds.

The mountain village of Mürren, located at 1650 m above sea level, leaves a lasting impression on visitors with its brown-edged chalets and the breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In Mürren you will spend an unforgettable holiday, without hustle and bustle. In 30 minutes, the cable car takes you to the top of the Schilthorn, 2970 meters high. You can enjoy a spectacular 360° view of the mountain world. Feel the unity of nature, enjoy a wide range of excursions and sports opportunities with your family all year round or let yourself be pampered from head to toe in the Alpine Spa Mürren.
Mürren and its surroundings (notably the nearby summit of the Schilthorn) were used extensively for the filming of the 1969 James Bond 007 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, starring George Lazenby (as the British secret agent) and Diana Rigg, made famous by the Bowler Hat and Leather Boots series. The bobsleigh track, on which James Bond is chased by Blofeld (played by Telly Savalas), was indeed on municipal territory: it was already closed due to fatal accidents but had been made available for filming purposes .
Two roads lead to the idyllic mountain village of Mürren. From Lauterbrunnen, take the gondola to Grütschalp and continue by comfortable, nostalgic train to Mürren. For a little more thrill, take the spectacular cable car that takes you from Stechelberg to Mürren via Gimmelwald.

I lived there. You also can walk. Also you can walk from Murren to the top of the Schilthorn. I always used to advise hotel guests to buy a ticket to Murren and if the weather is nice to go to the top, either walking or by cablecar

Сказочно-красивое место !!! Предполагаю, когда-то давным- давно, драконы с крыльями здесь точно водились. Даже, просматривая влог, - непреодолимое желание взмыть вверх, имея крылья, не страшась высоты. Несбыточные мечты воображения. Amo Mürren . Estuvimos en octubre pasado y quedé enamorada del pueblito. Subimos por el teleférico de Lauterbrunen y luego un tren nos llevó a la villa.
Del lado izquierdo de donde te bajaste del teleférico se puede caminar (el camino sube) y se llega a unas bancas con una vista espectacular. Se mira directo a las cumbres de las montañas.
Sueño con regresar.

I absolutely agree with you! We stayed in the village 10 years ago in summer and I chose it because I wanted somewhere with no cars, was authentic, quiet and scenic - it addressed everything I wanted, particularly as we stayed in the last chalet in the village next to the track and from the balcony had a wonderful view of the three mountains. Being able to walk along different tracks or take the rail so easily to other spots was so convenient.

Nice town. It must be hell expensive by all means, so I wonder how people with menial jobs in the hotels and restaurants can survive. Then, that makes me wonder how they transport food and other supplies into those places.
Switzerland is one of the world's richest countries. Only Norway is more wealthy. No problems living in this village. High salaries also for regular jobs.
@@steinarhaugen7617 The absolute wealthiest nation of all times is here, the USA...and a big bunch of the population already lives in 3rd world conditions, a bunch ever expanding to everyone ....including western Europe.
