During the end credits of the latest espn 30 for 30 on the American gladiators Gemini was talking about the pilot. It also featured never before seen clips of the pilot.
Look at the events that were in this pilot: Assault: Why does the contender have a tennis racket? Whiplash: Didn't appear in the actual show until 1993 Swingshot: So that's what season 1 Women's swingshot looks like! Sumo Ball: Didn't actually appear in the original show at all, nor did it appear in the revival! Although the revival could've had this event in season 2, as well as Whiplash! Also in this pilot, Gemini was one of the Gladiators!
Hmm...actually, if you remember, the first season had a "Swingshot" event that was never televised, and was sure not the same one that we saw later in the series! I have a feeling what you thought was whiplash they called their Swingshot. This might be the first time we saw what it might have looked like at that time.
I tried to ask Nitro on Facebook about a week ago if he recalled what the original Swingshot was like since he was one of the original 6 and therefore witness to it, but he couldn't remember. One day, we'll get a true answer.
@@GeekGameCulture I think the "Whiplash" here is more of a tethered Powerball. You can kind of see Swingshot at 0:22 . It's hidden behind the info graphic but it appears to be basically the same as the Swingshot from later in the series.
@Michael O'Keefe I was lucky enough to live in central-eastern Pennsylvania, so I got all of the New York AND Philadelphia affiliate stations. American Gladiators aired on about 6 different channels for me👍 WPIX11, WPHL17 & WWOR9 are the ones I'd normally watch it on.
WPTT IND 22 (now WPNT MNTV 22) in Pittsburgh, PA, WTAP NBC 15 in Parkersburg, WV, and WJW FOX 8 in Cleveland, OH (all near me...moved around a lot, as you can see).
It would be great to see the pilot episodes, surely someone must have them?
Wow, that's Lace and Gemini!!
Gemini was apparently called Cattalus in the pilot.

I'm guessing that Nancy Pettito, Aimee Ross, John Shumski, and Craig Williams were all at that Boston audition.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully one day we'll get to see the pilot episode.
Lace was in the pilot too. Only two of the six pilot gladiators went on to the TV shows.

Does the full pilot exist?
In my area, American Gladiators aired on WNYW FOX 5.
In areas I grew up with, KTVU in San Francisco and KXTV in Sacramento carried AG.
