I personally think via rail should restore a single LRC engine and put it into service as a historic restoration/run

Im pretty sure that all LRC locos are scraped. I never see one since my 1st day of March 2008 here in Via Rail...

Drone Up Quebec Benoit Lariviere there's quite a few left (6917 and 6921 are the only ones in preservation)(although 6917 project by Rapido has halted the project). there are still a few like I'm pretty sure 6914 and other LRC-2s

The one in toeonto is the rapido lrc. The one at delson in expo rail works. As well as the rapido one.
There are only the 2. There is a 3rd shell of one in mtl at the old GE plant by the lachine canal. I dont think this one was that 2000 caterpiler one they experimented with. Its white. So i believe its one of the old amtrak ones that via got with the coaches and never used.
The lrc locos where all sold to marine diesel oit east and scrapped. U may be able to contact them for parts. Aka engine blocks traction motors. But there are non really left unless hidden

They've done a great job, there's hardly any difference between the overhauled LRC car vs the Business Car.

VIA had given a contract to Industrial Rail Services in Moncton for full rebuild of the whole LRC fleet. They did the first 10, but then discovered that the next batch had damaged floors that needed to be replaced. VIA responded by killing the contract, bankruptcing the company. They were stuck with 10 cars in Moncton in various state of disassembly/rebuild. CAD got court approved permission to take them out and finish them and I wonder if this is what we are seeing in thsi video.
After that, the refurb that VIA did was minimal , change seats, paint cars just to make them last till the Siemens came.
In that video, the toilets are from the full rebuild, not the cosmetic patch up.

As a student of Lean Six Sigma the Kanban post caught my eye! Good to see them being refreshed, maybe I'll catch a ride on one someday.

I learned the LRC coaches no longer tilt in curves, that was awesome taking curves at high speed without feeling them. The only thing telling you you're in a curve was the view outside; either you saw the ground or the sky, you knew you were in a curve..

Yes. We remove the banking mechanism due to a too high maintenance price.

Dommage si les sièges sont dans le sens contraire de la marche du train. Sinon, bravo!

Hopefully this isn’t like Amtrak’s fleet when they screwed us off

Many seats are facing the other direction. They are mounted permanently, ridiculous. I for one don’t mind it but some people are not very happy about it. To bad because otherwise, the overhaul looks great 👍🏻.

You need to know that this seats configuration is due to the new "push pull" consist to give a better and a faster service to our passengers. So many trains have one locomotive in front and one in back. So the train can go on both directions with 50% of the seats on the good way. 75 % of our passengers don't mind about this configuration according to the survey...

Only thing I dont like is the new seats. Far less comfortable than the old ones.

Had no idea how high tech the cars were now.

All LRC cars are now equipped with a touch screen CDI. (Computer Display Interface. )
LED for reading lights computer outlets for every seats and free wi-fi on 99% of the travel. The cars will stay on road for the next appx. five years before end of them lives. Around 2022, the new generation will start to arrive on track.

While they look nice, they are VERY uncomfortable. The old chairs were much more comfortable. I rode in one of the renovated ones a couple weeks ago and a 4.5hr ride is not in any way enjoyable :(.
