I know you're joking, but for those who don't know: Homer doesn't appear to drive the sedan with Bart and Apu because he appears elsewhere in the level (selling cars). The same applies for many cars "owned" by someone, like Frink in the hovercar.

Here is a tip for easy races, if you cancel the race after the cars spawned, you can destroy them in the free roam, restart the race and your opponents will have to use the destroyed versions, which are useless. Make sure you don't leave draw distance from them before restarting the race. Another tip for walking back to missions while leaving your car at the end, is that you can stand on top of cars and they will move normally after a bit, that way you don't have to walk as much. Edit: you can destroy cars by butt slamming on them repeatedly.
@@Singe41 I remember the trick working in the original PC version, theoretically you can allow Marge's car to spawn, back out, destroy it, go back in and race against her destroyed car.
Fun fact: Even though the Honor Roller is technically an upgrade to the Family Sedan, it's still considered by some to be a worse vehicle, as it's beaten out on stats by *all of the traffic cars* in level 2. From watching plenty of Hit & Run speedruns, I believe the reason the Canyonero (Marge's car) is so buggy is that the physics of cars is tied to the game's frame rate, and higher frame rates cause it to bug out. You know a trick for Kang and Kodos Strike Back? Don't race them, but drive the other way and take the Dam / Observatory route to the Brewery. I don't know if it screws up the game's pathing, or rubber-banding, or if parts of the level unload when you're that far away, but the other car will get stuck and can't make it to the finish line if you do this. It's basically a guaranteed win lol.
@@andrewpryor5998 It might be a bit of both. I've just noticed you tend to win with such a lead using this trick. I just tried it, and without driving optimally I had a lead of about 20 seconds on them. The reason I think it glitches the rubber-banding is you will be listed as being in first the entire time you do the trick, which I think causes their car to speed up and crash into stuff more often.
I never try that, but for some reason that last mission is so goddamn easy, because most of the time the enemy car just get stuck below the docks next to Planet Hype.
@@korhol2065 You're intended to smash the stands in a specific order, and by smashing them in an unintended order, you can gain time that you weren't supposed to have. I used game mechanics in an unintended way to gain an advantage. That's basically the definition of an exploit.
@@1mariomaniac No you didn't, lol. Please explain how you manipulated the mechanics of the game by doing things in a different order. Hard lol. Changing routes is not an exploit, it is a strategic move well within the intended confines of the game mechanics... Exploits are something like running up a wall that you're not really supposed to, etc. There's a GTA: San Andreas mission that's quite the same. Doing things in a different order, when timed, is one of the few non-exploitative ways of strategizing to win.
This is a common misconception in the Simpsons. Bart has driven a few times under the pressure of father Simpsons when in actuality Bart kissed a girl.
Zenith at the start of the video ''im not moding the game to give me the family car in every mission cause it would put my integrity into question'' Zenith after loosing the progress of a 6 hour race to a glitch ''fuck yo all I'm not doing that again''

17:13 "This level seems to be the level with the least amount of secrets" Brother you're staring at the hidden vehicle in this stage. It's the glorious and terrible monorail
Fun fact. IN the Beta of Simpsons Hit & Run. After you destroy all the free Laser gun stands in the mission, there was no timer to get back to Krusty Studios. Which probably means that the 50 Second timer was something added later in development. And judging by how it doesn't add to your time, instead replacing the time you had. It's likely that this was not properly play tested. Seeing how strict you have to be getting there, even without using the respawn mechanic.
About the last card on L1, you're right about it being terrible. It's a one-way shortcut, you can't get up the ramp on the exit side, so there's no way to go backwards unless you turn around, and there's no reason to turn around. The corner is so deep, you can't see it normally while you drive through unless you're actively turning the camera to the right while you drive. The coins aren't a good indicator, because there's other areas that just have a few coins laying around. That card must have been the bane of many children's 100% attempts because of how it's hidden.
I think the reason Homer drives the sedan in some levels but not others is because in some levels, he actually exists in the game world and so it'd be possible to have him in the car and in the street, which would be confusing. So he's only in the car on levels where he can't be found elsewhere on the map, which he can be in Bart's and Apu's levels.
14:21 As far as I know, there's another strat for 1-7. I'm only commenting because of its funny name "Carl Skip": you have to run Carl over so that both he and your car end up inside the power plant when the door shuts. A word of caution, though: I tried this for the first time the other day, and when I tried to do le epix0rz jump through the wheel about 10 seconds in, I must have tripped something, because I failed the mission mid-air. I don't know what happened; maybe it was just a one-time thing (I didn't bother trying it again) but just so the reader knows.
When you say "Worst Car," I was expecting a video where you play the game with the destroyed car chasis that you can sometimes drive. Now that's diabolical!
that nuclear car mission on level 7 made me break a PlayStation controller when I was a kid, for some reason I was obsessed with hitting into things because it was fun, but it made me lose and I was a stinky poopoo baby head and I got angry and kept losing
I think the reason why Homer appears for Marge and Lisa but not Bart and Apu is because Homer is a seller NPC for both Bart and Apu meanwhile with Marge and Lisa he's free during their segments of the story.
This was an amazing video. You clearly worked SUPER hard for this, and had such a great story through it. Especially when you found out about the teleport trick XD I never even played this game and it was awesome to see!
that canyonero race you struggled with on level 3 really brought forward something. racing lines. as a general rule of thumb when racing you want to start on the outside of a corner, swing across to the inside as you clip the inner most point , then let the car pull back out to the outside again. generally it's the fastest way to take a corner. this will apply to almost any corner in almost any racing game too so, something that might be worth noting if you do challenge runs with races in the future. should hopefully save you 3 hours worth of headaches lol.
Zenith: "Bart's driving is like a circus act: full of unexpected turns and a few clowns honking along" Me: Funny and a bit ironic since Bart's dad was originally going to by Krusty the Clown...
Protip for any racing game: just perform a pit maneuver on the overpowered AI at the very moment the race starts. That's usually enough to completely mess up its pathing and give you a free win

Heyy MickyD, I was a bit worried when I saw you stop uploading but pleasantly surprised to see you in the comments. Especially love your elder scroll vids and tbh they helped me through a really difficult time, hope you’re in good health and maybe see another vid from you one day.
45:55 I think the reason for Bart driving himself is because for example: Homer is in level 2 selling mr.plow so he can’t be loaded in twice. In level 3-4 he’s driving the car because he’s not in the level already.
I think the joke about Marge's SUV tumbling over is that those early SUVs actually tended to be quite unstable. They even make fun of it in the SUV episode where Marge deliberately makes one fall over to distract a rhinoceros.
There actually many worse cars than the family sedan like donut truck, duff truck, baby van etc. LiquidWifi has a bunch of runs but still cool from a casual run POV. :)
Has Liquid ever got 100% using other vehicles? I don't remember any runs that go for full completion but ik he's done some really cool runs with god awful runs like the monorail.
@@jammychoo No he didn't I commented that about at level 2 but yeah i'm impressed with the 100% run indeed. Stuff like blowing up homers car in Circuit race in level 6 was really clever. Races from level 3 would probably actually be impossible in the monorail for example.
Some additional bits: *General:* Quickly press the V button to look back while driving, it will often make traffic in front of you despawn and generate new traffic vehicles. That is useful when there's too much traffic in your way. *L5M6* 58:30 : The armored truck mission had a time limit of 6 1/2 minutes in the beta versions, but even the developers found it way too frustrating to have to start over wasting _this_ much time, so it was dropped before release. *L6M7* 1:16:30 : This mission is way easier if you turn around 180° at the start and drive the other way around to the brewery. *Races in general:* Your main opponent _is_ basically cheating. The race cars have separate files and have unnaturally high stats allowing them to perform better than many players can. Two additional opponents may be present but they have intentionally dumb AI and are only there to annoy you when over-lapping them or make you get stuck at the start.
My love for this game can't be stated enough. I was 11 when it came out and I loved how wild and detailed this game was and it came out at such a good time
Only part way through the video and taking it break from it now, but that one mission in level three was ridiculous and your commentary/editing had me enthralled. I'm so dang impressed that you stuck with it for so long and managed to pull off what literally seemed impossible.
I am still surprised no one talks about how each level has a secret car hidden somewhere in it. And they are all unique. I'll list them here cause it bothers me so much. Level 1: The rocket car level 2: The Monorail Level 3: Night boat Level 4: A... quad bike ATV? Level 5: The monster truck level 6: A sports car that is crashed into a building. Level 7: A tiny remote control car hidden on top of a Krusty burger It is just wild that I have seen a few Hit and run videos and people never bring up that these are all little cool secret cars in each level.

Oh, that Set to Kill level is unforgivable. 50 seconds is BARELY enough to get back to the studio. I ended up having to skip that mission.
In the beta the timer didn't reset after you destroyed the laser stands *at all*
Yeah I had to use an exploit to finish that mission. (The one where you skip stand number 23 and hit it last on your way back to save time.)
Nah, that’s not the exploit that’s just understanding how the timer worked
It’ll always be 50 seconds so just wait until the one near the saw to win
8:30 on a technicality; homer isnt the one in the drivers seat.
therefore he did not *drive* any car other than the sedan
No, Homer also drives the 70s sports car.
Homer drove the 70's sedan though
That GradeAUnderA immitation really made me laugh ngl

Isn’t Bart canonically an excellent driver?
This is a common misconception in the Simpsons. Bart has driven a few times under the pressure of father Simpsons when in actuality Bart kissed a girl.
"Your car was built in Croatia. It's made from old Soviet tanks!"
Zenith at the start of the video ''im not moding the game to give me the family car in every mission cause it would put my integrity into question''
Zenith after loosing the progress of a 6 hour race to a glitch ''fuck yo all I'm not doing that again''
I am sure it was the console port as stated, but cheats are a thing too.
I mean technically he did it, but it’s sort of like killing a boss while being 30 levels lower than them, you aren’t doing that shit twice
The difference is that he did the race under the challenge rules once already, and recorded it.
12:48 Fun fact: if you move slow enough you can sneak up on NPCs from behind and if they aren't looking at you when you melee them they will always go to the moon just like this
17:13 "This level seems to be the level with the least amount of secrets" Brother you're staring at the hidden vehicle in this stage.
Why tf did they do that they didn't playtest set to kill
Were you supposed to glitch the game or something to beat it
It's not that hard if you use the right car
About the last card on L1, you're right about it being terrible.
It's a one-way shortcut, you can't get up the ramp on the exit side, so there's no way to go backwards unless you turn around, and there's no reason to turn around.
The corner is so deep, you can't see it normally while you drive through unless you're actively turning the camera to the right while you drive.
The coins aren't a good indicator, because there's other areas that just have a few coins laying around.
That card must have been the bane of many children's 100% attempts because of how it's hidden.

GENIUS.
I was kinda sad when he realized and switched back to his normal mic, it was funny as fuck
Yeah lmao @@Jlaps941
The Canyonero is not buggy. This is by design. It's proclivity to rollover is referenced in the episode.

i hope you have a great day today!
Zenith: "Bart's driving is like a circus act: full of unexpected turns and a few clowns honking along"
Me: Funny and a bit ironic since Bart's dad was originally going to by Krusty the Clown...
Protip for any racing game: just perform a pit maneuver on the overpowered AI at the very moment the race starts. That's usually enough to completely mess up its pathing and give you a free win

I happened to be watching Simpsons Hit & Run content on my television yesterday when this video randomly queued up. As I began to watch and not realizing who the uploader was, I thought to myself "Wow this guy sounds really familiar! He speaks like El Maxo but with an american accent."
THE tf2 legend Zenith just uploaded an HOUR LONG video on one of my favorite games ever? This is amazing.
Frame rate is what causes the physics to become really funny in this game.
i was running this game at an obscene frame rate without realising, like 400+ and if I hit a bump, i would fucking FLY, ZOOM through the SKY like a suicidal squirrel on cocaine with a jetpack from the year 4000. 60fps cap makes this game a dream.
PS2, especially. Since frame rate is at best 30 consistently. That's like hard mode via a port.
I watched this over a few days and it was totally worth it. Amazing video!
Seeing you beat that last race in level 3 got my sub, brother. Herculean effort.
I hope this video gets the views and attention it deserves because it was fantastic the whole way through!
Heyy MickyD, I was a bit worried when I saw you stop uploading but pleasantly surprised to see you in the comments. Especially love your elder scroll vids and tbh they helped me through a really difficult time, hope you’re in good health and maybe see another vid from you one day.
Eyyyyy MickyD! Why am I not surprised to see you here 😂
This is the sort of unhinged video I expect from you (in the best way).
Now THIS is content.

Finally uploading videos on good games
True
Some additional bits:
*General:* Quickly press the V button to look back while driving, it will often make traffic in front of you despawn and generate new traffic vehicles.
L6M6: If you go to a race, and jump and double jump, you can make traffic despawn if you mission warp
Thanks for the reference
My love for this game can't be stated enough. I was 11 when it came out and I loved how wild and detailed this game was and it came out at such a good time
4:19 had be creasing😂
Only part way through the video and taking it break from it now, but that one mission in level three was ridiculous and your commentary/editing had me enthralled. I'm so dang impressed that you stuck with it for so long and managed to pull off what literally seemed impossible.
I am still surprised no one talks about how each level has a secret car hidden somewhere in it. And they are all unique. I'll list them here cause it bothers me so much.
Level 1: The rocket car
level 2: The Monorail
Level 3: Night boat
Level 4: A... quad bike ATV?
Level 5: The monster truck
level 6: A sports car that is crashed into a building.
Level 7: A tiny remote control car hidden on top of a Krusty burger
It is just wild that I have seen a few Hit and run videos and people never bring up that these are all little cool secret cars in each level.
It's literally one of the most known facts by anyone who plays this game but ok
