So, you went on about some sort of "huge weakness" in the design of the AT-AT walkers in The Empire Strikes Back but that only proves that you weren't paying attention either to what the real weaknesses are or to the actual battle that took place.
First off, in the battle scene, it was clearly shown that multiple speeders tried attacking the hulking walkers from the sides. It was only after doing this that Commander Skywalker realized that doing just that was never going to get them anywhere because the sides and rear of the massive vehicles were so heavily armored and their attacks were simply shirked off as nothing more than a mosquito bite. That was the specific reason that Luke even thought to use the tow cables at all.
Secondly, the large, armor-plated sides are, in fact, not the greatest weakness of the walkers. The joints are. This is precisely why the very first shots in the very first volley fired by the defending rebels were aimed directly at the large joints in the legs which proved useless because they were ray shielded (protected against energy weapons, i.e. blasters and blaster canons). That's why it was decided to send the speeders out to conduct zero-point defense up close. And after tow cables were used to trip the walkers, the only viable weakness could be exploited, which was the neck joint where it met the body. This particular target was extremely difficult to hit since the massive armor plating on the backs and sides of the walkers protected it from direct assault. And this only left one remaining option which was to attack from head on. And this was was nothing more than a suicide attack since the large, forward-facing canons could easily shoot down anyone stupid or foolish enough to dare to try. But once the walkers were tripped using the tow cables, that left the only exploitable weakness a viable target.

@@Theanimeisforme Not sure that's apt- it would be closer to a dune buggy... but its repulsors only had so much lift. So while they could get higher than an AT-AT, they couldn't get their blasters aimed "down" in, since they'd be more or less horizontal. (Also, if they decided to hover, well, bang bang boom.)
Shame they didn't have the memos from Scarif though- using Ion Weapons on the joints would likely do wonders (since it craps up the hydraulics & magnetics and such keeping the walkers legs from collapsing under the weight).

The thing about the Walkers attack on Hoth was snow storms prevented most flights, which the walkers were able to walk up to the base under cover of the storm. As for the design, the at-at was a replacements for the Clone Walkers. The size of the AT-AT is supposed to cause fear among enemies when they are marched up to a force, with strong cannons that can devastate armor and emplacements in its path. They are usually guarded by the assaulting infantry (who some have rocket launchers that can lock onto aircraft) as well as smaller 2 legged walkers who can also fire at aircraft. These are the ones usually responsible for protecting their more valuable assets like the AT-AT while the AT-AT is just the fear inspiring heavy puncher.
As for the all the speeder's approach pattern, the hanger bay is facing towards the front where the attack is coming from so obviously they have to attack straight forward, also the speeders targets weren't just the walkers they were to support ground troops that were pushed forward ahead of the AT-AT's. The movie does reuse a couple shots like the shot of the speeders cockpit as they are flying towards the AT-AT's, but there's a few shots where they approach from behind and the sides as well. However once you fly in from behind them your eventually going to end up in front of their guns. Plus it took them a couple passes before they finally realized their blaster fire wouldn't penetrate the AT-AT's armor so they hadn't decided they needed cables yet (Which on its own is a weird concept to put tow cables on the rear blaster turret)
Also Liea doesn't know they are brother and sister yet... so she isn't referring to Padme but rather her adoptive mother.

The "older" Lightsaber duels actually do not focus less on skill. They just more accurately represent what dueling with swords of that configuration (aka very light ones) would probaply look like. It does of course look less impressive but still. Swirling your blade around an awful lot is actually rather stupid as it gives the opponent a chance to strike while your guard is down. Again im not complaining about the decision to give the duels more gymnastics, those are fun to look at, from a swordfighting standpoint however the older ones are more accurate.

When Luke asks Leia about her mother, and she responds, the person she is talking about is Breha Organa, widely erroneously believed to have perished in the destruction of Aldaraan she actually died long before, in a household accident triggered when she was frightened by Grimtaash the Molator, like so many wives of Aldaraani monarchs before her. It is unclear whether the malevolent spirit was destroyed along with the planet, or if it had followed Princess Leia off planet, and continued to haunt her, as she was the last remnant of the Aldaraan royal family. Her little known distaste for Dejaric at least suggests that she may have been aware ofGrimtaash the Molator.

Then we have leia, who despite appearing normal, manages to Mary poppins her way THROUGH SPACE in TLJ
Then we have Finn, a stormtrooper who somehow manages to acquire the force.

Grievous, maul, palpatine, dooku, Vader, and ren are all also non Jedi. Luke: Do you remember your mother? Your *real* mother?
Leia: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.
    Luke: What do you remember?
Leia: Just images, really. *Feelings.* She was very beautiful. Kind, but *sad.*
What we see in Revenge of the Sith fits with this description. Padme dies from deep depression just after giving birth. The focus on feelings in Leia's dialogue implies that newborn Leia was instinctively using her innate Force abilities to sense what Padme was feeling. The Force connection may be responsible for her being able to remember Padme at all. People need to stop spreading this nonsense that Leia is remembering her adoptive mother. That's clearly not the intention, and this isn't a real contradiction in the first place.

  • @spacecowboy2957
    @spacecowboy2957 3 года назад +2

You also went on about Leia's memory of her mother, Padme Amidala Skywalker. What you failed to understand about this is that the twin sister of the strongest Jedi in the galaxy also has a high m-count and is also attuned to the force which, as was clearly described by Obi Wan in The Empire Strikes Back, gives one the ability to view the past and future. And since Leia was strong with the force, she also had some natural ability which she didn't realize was the force, at the very least. This is how she was able to remember her mother even though she died almost immediately after Leia & Luke were born.
Even young Anakin didn't realize that he had some natural force sensitivity/ability that he thought was natural. This enabled him to become a
highly-skilled pilot who won the Bunta Eve podrace and also single-handedly took out an entire capital ship. He would later develop these skills and strengthen his sensitivity to the force and become the best star pilot in the galaxy.

As far as Leia remembering her mother, I'd always thought (having been like 12 at the time of RotS) that Bail must have given her holo-recordings of Padme, as well as journals or notes. It'd make sense, if she knew she was adopted and was a high level rebellion officer, that Bail would have trusted her with that knowledge. I don't know all the specifics, but it made sense to me and still does that Leia knew a fair bit about Padme, and told Luke what she thought summed it up.
