Thanks Aiman to clarify , how to select. important news is another criteria or second day continuation for example stock that have earnings the day before.
The problem i have with pre market gappers that have catalysts is it's hard to tell how much the stock can move intraday because you have no idea how strong or weak the catalyst can be, compared to stocks w/o catalysts. Can just use the ATR and we have a general idea of how much this stock can move intraday
Like you said, you have no idea how it can be, so if it gaps >ATR I usually ignore it; However, the day after the gap is usually a good one to keep an eye on! Another thing you can do is keeping an eye on RVOL, if the RVOL is x2 the usualy you could expect a move x2 atr
You raise a great point. Identifying potential intraday movements in pre-market gappers with catalysts can be challenging because it's hard to predict the strength of the catalyst. However, using the Average True Range (ATR) can give you a general idea of the stock's historical volatility and potential range of movement. It's important to keep in mind that the ATR is just one indicator and should be used in conjunction with other indicator and price action analysis. Additionally, keeping an eye on the news and any updates related to the catalyst can also provide insight on the potential impact on the stock price.
@@aimanalmansoori15 i think a lot of stocks that gap up are random no name, low quality stocks with low daily volume that people don't really pay a lot of attention to, i think it's been better for me to only trade well known legit stocks like amd, tesla, coin, bili, li, instead of no name companies nobody cares for. these stocks seem to respect support/resistance levels very well so far from what i've traded. i used to trade strictly gappers and that wasn't working very well for me
