Yo this video is making my night. Everything from swallowing the bug, too "whereas if you fall here, you'll go.". Lol, this has got to be one of the most enjoyable and helpful videos I've seen on the High Peaks and climbing. Thank you
Awesome views. Ripping giant mountain Aug 22nd, won’t be doing it it from the slide though lol. First high peak for me. Awesome vid though brother respect the grind.
I would say this would be absolutely suicide for anyone who’s never climbed a slide before. Even for someone who has climb slides as many times as I have this one had me on edge. And I have never felt uncomfortable on a slide before. Well, maybe the top head wall of Cascade slide had me feeling a little nervous, but there wasn’t a long way to fall. Giant eagle slide was like if you fall you’re probably gonna die
Besides for the very bottom of this slide, when it was timid, there was absolutely no down climbing on the Eagles slide. It was just absolutely too steep. I truly mean this it was up only. If you think it looks steep on video, you have no idea how Steve was in person.it was the only slide I’ve ever done where my ass was puckered, and I was genuinely fearful of my life
What’s so funny is that technically I know that, but I didn’t know it was spelt that way. I thought Litchen was LIKEN. So that’s why I kept pronouncing it the way I did, but then, after someone else brought it to my attention, I looked up the definition and technically the way I’m saying it is correct. It just looses the vote against the community of the correct way to pronunciation lol
Well done, guys - that looked scary, but amazing. I assume the wildfire smoke was from the fires out in the western US and Canada. And tropical storm Beryl most likely made those fresh scars. Thanks for sharing.
Love your slide videos and appreciate all the effort going into making them. How many slides are left in the ADK that you haven't climbed yet? Is it a goal to do them all?
What is your experience on slides in the Adirondacks? Because I’ve done a lot of slides, and this is the only one that had me genuinely nervous. It is way steeper than portrayed in video. A lot of times the camera was twisted on the side and made it look a lot less steep than it actually was.
I’ve done a ton of other slides leading up to this one. This one honestly intimidated and scared me for the last few years. For good reason, it was actually scary to do. No room for error.
A good starter slide would be Bennies Brook slide up lower wolf jaw. A very far trek to get to this one, but the ermine Brook slide up santanoni is a great beginner one. After that all the other ones I’ve done have been quite a bit steeper. I’ve done a lot of ones that are very hard to get to very far from the car. Just recently I started doing some of the closer ones on the more popular peaks.
@@BrianHikesAllDay Thanks a lot! I have been wanting to try out a slide but want to start with something reasonable so as to not get in over my head. Appreciate the videos!
I personally plan to continue using the Altra Lone peaks for all the other slides. Because I don’t think any of the other slides are as steep as eagle that I wanna do. I’ve always felt very solidly planted in my Altra. I’ll save the climbing shoes for the real real steep ones like eagle. Although Eagle is probably the steepest slide, I would ever climb without ropes
Thank you, truth be told I’ve never heard a person speak that word in person so I just spoke it as it looked like it was sound. Before doing the slide, somebody’s told me it was covered in lichen over text so I’ve never actually heard the word or how it was supposed to be pronounced.
See now, looking at the definition online one of the pronunciations would be exactly how I said it A lichen (/ˈlaɪkən/ LY-kən, UK also /ˈlɪtʃən/ LITCH-ən). ^^^^^^* 🤷🏻♂️ but I hear you on how it should be pronounced
Crazy adventuring! Cool shoes! I’m looking at some soon as well. 😊
This made Huntington ravine, feel like a flat walk along the beach with the kids that I don’t have
@@BrianHikesAllDay 😂😂😂 That’s awesome. It looks crazy, I read it’s got a 1,000 ft slide. Thats long. Nice work!
@@AmandaDouin 1000 foot slide at nearly a 50° angle sustained
Sick.. After 13:45 very little room for error! It was great meeting you both at the summit. That smoke followed us all day as well.
OH My GOD!!! At 16:21...wow! Gives a whole new meaning to the word 'steep' 😳!
Oh, you have no idea. And just remember if it looks steep on video it’s twice as Steep inperson.
@@BrianHikesAllDay Wow, I can't imagine! It's very scary, and makes my legs quiver just watching your video. Even though I would love to do this also!
@@BrianHikesAllDay You are fearless no doubt 🤗!
@user-hg9sr6jb3j 😂😂
@@BrianHikesAllDay Right? 😆!
My hands were sweaty the whole time! Nice climb. Be safe.
You just made me start singing the Eminem song in my head about Palm sweaty, weak knees, arms, spaghetti
@@BrianHikesAllDay 🤣😂
Hiked Mt. Cardigan this morning, had clear skies, awesome views ! 👊🏻⛰️👍🏻
Sickkk climb you guys are crazy!
So glad you enjoyed watching this one!
Nice climbing brain and you have a dam cool watch
That watch is one of the best investments I have ever made. It had changed the game for me tenfold
Dudes! That’s one SICK ascent! Way to go! Thanks for showing us how it’s done.
That slide had my butt puckered 😂😂

Yay, a new video! I can't wait to watch this later...🤗!!!!!!!!
This one is absolutely sick and probably one of my favorites ever. Make sure to give a thumbs up lol
@@BrianHikesAllDay Ahhh, nice! You bet I will. You never cease to amaze me !!
I amaze myself all the time with the shit I come up with
@@BrianHikesAllDay That is awesome though...I would love to be more that way myself 🙂🙏.
@@KimRehley it’s only a decision away from a life change. Just decide to do it and do it.
Those LaSpo's are elite, great choice! I find fairy comfortable to hike in as well, generally don't bring a change.
I think my Altra loan peaks stick just as well
Dude, this is so insane. I love the Adirondacks.
The Adirondacks are just so amazing
Posting pictures now 👊🏻👍🏻
Hell yeah man! This video is sweet. This slide looks gnarly!
Most gnarly one I ever climbed that’s for sure
This is an amazing video, and I appreciate all the down-climbing you must have done to get those camera shots!
Besides for the very bottom of this slide, when it was timid, there was absolutely no down climbing on the Eagles slide. It was just absolutely too steep. I truly mean this it was up only. Props! This looks terrifying! Also, lichen is pronounced "like-in"

Insane!!! Incredible video👏👏
Thank you 🙌 glad you liked it
I use tx4 as my daily drivers but my main climbers are the Boulder x
Once this pair of Altra Lone Peaks I’m wearing need to be replaced. I’ll probably try the TX four as a daily until they’re done.
That slide looked like it was never ending.
1300 feet of slide
@@BrianHikesAllDay I must say proper footwear is an essential. Great video there bri. Lowa has great boots at r.e.i.
Love your slide videos and appreciate all the effort going into making them. How many slides are left in the ADK that you haven't climbed yet? Is it a goal to do them all?
No goal to do them all. I just love doing them because they’re the most fun. But in time, I will eventually try to grab a new one almost every outing
This looks sick. I'm looking to climb this on the weekend. Anyone have a link to the GPX for this?
Do you follow me on Strava or AllTrails? I could show you my route. It’s pretty much straight up through the center head of the eagle.

What was the slide you started with first? This seems a bit "advanced"
I’ve done a ton of other slides leading up to this one. This one honestly intimidated and scared me for the last few years. For good reason, it was actually scary to do. No room for error.

Bro, it’s the only thing I’ve ever done where I was actually nervous
JOB WELL DONE

For Cripes Sake, if you are going to be an Outdoorsman, learn how to pronounce Lichen properly! The word is lichen... pronounced "lia kin" !
