its only start of furi season which will be long and 2 more seasons after - the best ones ... you can get to good gear within few weeks of doing daily and weekly stuff... I myself started playing just a month ago and already have almost best pvp gear
just know that many people know wotlk very well after many years, so choose your class wisely as you will need to like playing it and improving at it if you wanna get actual rating, but there are many for fun combs too :D
