Its the first time i regret watching a screencrush video.... please ryan be more careful the next time, you should tell us from the start that you are ruining a crucial aspect of a story many of us dont know
The walking dead is a bit more believable and arent afraid to get gorry which i love. At the last episode in the last of us I think it was unrealistic how joel without a silencer and not by surprise killed like 10 soldiers no problem. In the walking dead atleast when Rick defeats an enemy or enemies he used his intelligence and his group so its more believable.
The main show did go on way to long but the series finale hit the landing for me at least...but fear has never got old to me every season or two they shake this up in a major way
I don't understand the hate TWD gets. From start to finish the show was incredible! The character growth, the villains, everything was amazing! TWD deserves way more praise than it gets. I can't wait for the new spin off shows! 😁 P.S. all I could think during the last episode of The Last Of Us when Joel was gunning everyone down in the hospital...the whole time I was thinking, "Joel is going full Rick Grimes!" 🤣
Just like I don't get the praise TLOU gets. I absolutely hate time-skips in post-apocalyptic settings (let alone a 20 year skip). The acting was good, but was expecting more from the whole "have to get the immune one to XYZ location". Rewatched season 1 of TWD right after finishing TLOU. Based on a single season for both series. TWD wins by miles.
Walking dead was a way different show. People became attached to multiple characters. Where as LOU Joel was the main reason ppl watched. Although Walking Dead was based on a comic book toward the end, it became even more cartoonish than the comic. Hopefully, LOU stays grounded & doesn't become desperate like. Also, Rick's personality yo-yo'd from season to season Joelnwont be around that long.😊
It's not fair to compare the two mate. TWD had a decent run but they had to stretch the sht out of it for 20+ episodes each season because that was how most shows were made then.
i think both shows are great. the biggest problem with the walking dead is that it went on too long imo. which is probably one of the better problems as a show but that’s jus me
The main difference between the 2 were TLoU stayed closer to the source material. That and TWD actually had monsters in the majority of the series. We all get the living are the real monsters but we tune in for the zombies/infected.
Rick didn't become a bad man , he was a man trying to keep his humanity and he did, like how in the walking dead noone would think it ok to kill a child for the possibility it might help with a cure, the last of us people think Joel's a bad man for that ,its madness.
I really wish you had put a spoiler warning at the beginning of the video. I didn’t play the game, so I’ve tried to keep blinders on. The warning popped up pretty quick. Oh well.
The Walking Dead went on for 11 seasons, had one spin off that's about to hit 8, two other spin offs, a couple (middling) video games, and none of this is even touching the comic book side of this. It hardly failed.
I'd say the last three seasons were still great tbh, especially season 9 and 10 and the show is still very popular and successful, but I agree that they made some really questionable decisions in season 7-8 for some reason and that's such a shame.
A lot of people seem to have lost faith in the series when Negan killed a couple of the main characters. My point was a bit before that. The "Glenn death fakeout" was my moment. After a season that included "The Grove", one of the greatest hours of TV, they decided a nice little camera deception would be a great idea. To go so high to creep so low...
I agree that they made some really weird and questionable writing decisions during the Negan arc, but season 9 and 10 were great in my opinion or at the very least MUCH better in comparison, I'd recommend checking them out tbh.
Walking Dead dragged the storylines for too long, the conflict with Kathleen and the fireflies would’ve taken a whole damn season if it was on WD, TLoU goes straight from point A to point B.
Both have its positives and negatives, the Kathleen story had so much to tell so it could’ve benefited from that. The last us us skips over a lot of other parts of the game so there’s that too. A to b storytelling, but cuts out great character growth
My favorite TWD motto I had on a shirt. “Fight the Dead, Fear the Living.” When they started laughing nukes from beached submarines…they even lost me as a faithful watcher.
Why one worked and one didn't? Bro, Walking Dead was on the air for more than 10 seasons! That's a long ways away from "didn't work." No. The post apocalyptic survival drama adaptation that, quote, "didn't work," was Sweet Tooth. A show that, after spending years in development hell, is JUST NOW about to get its second season. Something that's probably only happening now, due to Netflix noticing the success of an adaptation like the Last of Us. Which is what Sweet Tooth was essentially trying to be, before Netflix gave up on it prematurely.
Honestly the early seasons of TWD are still a lot better than The Last of Us IMO. Yeah TWD dragged on and got worse, but Last of Us made the equally not great choice of speedrunning the story and not really fleshing anything out. Last of Us was still good, but the game was better. You just had a lot more time to connect with the characters in the game.
To be fair, that first season of the walking dead was fire. The first episode of walking dead, in my opinion, is one of the best adaptions from comic to TV I've seen. If Last of US, dragged on for 8 more season this show will suffer the same fate. Honestly after finishing the second game, i am genuinely curious how the 2nd season of TLOU will be viewed by the general audience.
We'll also have to see how season 2+ goes on. The 2nd game had way more controversial reception. I think it is great but they will have their hands full trying to cover it
One “works” because people are too blind to see the glaringly obvious issues with the show and keep using words like “faithful adaptation” and it’s a trend to think that even though it’s the furthest thing from the truth. As someone who has played TLOU 152 times I absolutely HATED the show. I will not be responding to any comments that are upset at me for not falling in line and consuming. Have a nice day everyone. 😊
If Joel doesn’t die until season 3 then they wouldn’t have even started adapting the second game yet. I think we might get a few more episodes at most but he’s still heading out in the front half of season 2.
It worked until season 7 episode 2... The saviors war dragged on way too long, and there were too many communities to follow. Still a great show, and the first season of Last Of Us was some of the best stuff I've seen in a long, long time 💯
@@georgelioulias3879 Yeah, it really was a great show in the beginning. Killing off Carl, was a ridiculous idea. I actually think that contributed to Andrew Lincoln leaving the show. Scott Gimple sucks as a show runner
For real. 1000% It has great actors, great acting, awesome storylines, nice plots. It has romance, suspense, action, sometimes comedy. The Walking Dead will always be better
Wym one didn’t work TWD first six seasons were freaking great , that’s the first season of the last of us . Last of Us was good but nowhere near comparable to TWD season 1-4
Because people started getting bored with TWD and stopped watching.... Yeah, the first seasons were good, but they dragged it way longer than it should have.
Imo both shows are great BUT I actually think TWD works better than TLOU. Here’s why. You’re comparing an 11 season show v. a 1 season show btw. And a lot of people stayed for 12 years and want more. That’s impressive. TWD made people take the zombie genre way more seriously than the past. It featured characters that people immediately loved since season 1. People immediately loved Morgan. He was only in one episode. People fell in love w/ Rick and his journey to find his family. When they reunite, it feels so satisfying and earned. People wanted Morales back for years even though they only knew him for a few episodes. It was a beautiful show about surviving for your family wether it’s actual family or found family. TLOU tackles that with only one pairing really. Which is Joel and Ellie. But other than that, on the show, it actually got more repetitive than TWD’s 11 seasons. Joel and Ellie find new people, those said people die by the end of the episode. That’s almost every episode. Bill and Frank, Henry and Sam, Riley, and even the cannibals. Every episode was a new person/group to kill off. That works in the game because you have longer time with each character while in the show, you have one episode each. So it feels repetitive. Second, Rick is the leader of a group. You’re watching a man try to not only survive for his family, but for a whole group of people. So people fell in love with everyone in the group and fell in love with the idea of Rick keeping your favorite side characters alive since he’s in a way, responsible for all of them. While Joel is only in it for Ellie. As deep as that can be, it won’t always be as exciting for every future season of the show. Third, I genuinely think a lot of people like show Joel only because they love Pedro Pascal. He is so loved and when he’s gone, idk how many people will stick along w/ the show. So, comparing to what you said when Rick left, a lot of people left. But a lot stayed because they knew he was still alive. He left the show but he didn’t die. So a lot of people are still watching to see Rick again. While when Joel is fully gone, that might not go the same way for TLOU. Basically, TWD has way more loved characters, themes, arcs, locations, villains so there’s more to find appealing even when some episodes drag on. While TLOU has to rely on Joel and Ellie all the time and if a lot of people left when game Joel died. I won’t be surprised that a lot of people leave when show Joel dies. And since those 2 carry the whole show, that could seriously affect the longevity and enjoyment of the show.
You know what i find funny about the conversation between shame and rixh? He says that loro said "sometimes i wonder if you care about us at all" and he remarks on how cruel that statement was but i grew up with my parents literally cursing at one another around me when they argue so to me i was all confused when i first saw the show as a 12- year old watching it for the first time
I tried really hard to stay with The Walking Dead because I hit the ground running as a fan, but after every season I would kind of love it last of us. Seasons four and five will probably be a High Point for me because of the contrast between they were vs who they are now, but I pretty much turned it off on a cliffhanger episode where Rick chases Negan, but never felt the urge to put it on again. I really appreciated the novelty of a zombie show but it started feeling like Grey’s Anatomy, where they were introduced somebody, shared their backstory then decide if they get to live or die, which is just a gimmick to make you feel like you lost a friend, or feel safe, because your friend survived. Then feel like that was an emotional rollercoaster.
Same! I really loved it, but then it just seemed to start to drag on. I stopped watching and was never interested enough to start again. I try sometimes, but the thought of doing it feels like punishment or work.
This comparison is a bit premature. As it stands, the first season of the Walking Dead was great, and worked beautifully. Where it faltered is when it started deviating from the source material and began having too many tangent episodes for the sake of dragging out the season; something the Last of Us is already guilty of doing.
I believe another reason TWD’s rating suffered was due to the split season thing they would do. Multiple month break between the first half and second half of the season hurt their retention of casual fans. It was so confusing to keep interest and understand what happened previously.
Ryan this is ridiculous.... We are going on almost 15 years of Walking Dead being on television and being in print even longer, and they are still making spin-offs and mini series. To say it failed, is egregious and laughable.
I'm hoping The Last of Us follows the lead of Succession (my other favorite show) and doesn't go beyond four seasons. There's a lot to be said for leaving the viewers wanting more...
TWD was my favorite TV series ever at one point. For me, it fell off in Season 7 & 8, they dragged Negan on way too long & killing Carl off was like killing off the whole point of the show. Rick's whole reason for surviving was Carl. I stopped watching after Season 10, then I recently just watched the very last episode just to watch it. TWD is still the best zombie series ever imo. Me & my family used to get together on Sunday nights just to watch it as if it were the Superbowl. A lot of people are claiming that the Korean zombie shows "Kingdom" & "All of Us Are Dead" are better that TWD. Imo, Kingdom Season 1 was solid but Season 2 is already starting to fall off imo. As for AOUAD, it was just okay, I really didn't think it was all that. And this is coming from a Korean movie lover, who thinks Koreans produces the best movies. TWD is still the King of zombie series. I think TLOU is good so far, but I think having played the game & already knowing the story makes me not enjoy it as much. If it was a fresh experience for me, I might love it more. I also dislike that the infected didn't really feel like a threat, they should've had more of them.
I don't get any of those walking dead criticisms. I would say season 8 was slow and very one note, and the first half of season 5 was slow and kinda pointless and uninteresting, but I didn't have any other problems with it. Still my favorite show after 11 seasons. And damn straight I'm gonna watch the spin offs.
I think The Walking Dead worked because they had viewers for around 7 years then everyone kinda stopped but whenever season 10 came out that is when the views went up, they also have like 5 spin-offs and 11 seasons and millions of dollars. I think it worked pretty well.
I watched both and they both have great storylines. It's in the same genre. I am a HUGE fan of TWD and I met the cast especially the elusive Andy, I own the DVD's and I think I've watched each Episode at least 6-10 times. It's an Amazing character evolution fron Season 1 to the end, especially with Andrew Lincoln (Rick). TLOU... Same concept but lacked zombie- creatures- clickers. We got them at the beginning plus an explanation of how they function but they faded away as the show went on. In TWD the walkers were a threat throughout the series and the characters learned how to deal with them as time went on. There was Less character development in TLOU, Joel went from one extreme to another in Quicker time, it was only 9 eps long and he went from being quiet and annoyed to more acceptable of what his mission was in that he had to protect Ellie where it took Rick 9 seasons to go through what he went to through to get to where he was before being "taken" in ep5 Season 9 and Rick had to lead a whole entire group straight from the gate. The character development of Rick was amazing. Andy had to reconstruct his character from the 1st 6 episodes to the final 6 eps of each season for 9 seasons. That's talent. TWD has more detail and longer character arcs and slower paced. You see the characters progress and digress and go down different paths of emotions... Highs and lows depending on their losses and situations each character was put into. As a fan, observer we got more attached to TWD characters than we did TLOU characters. TLOU lacked that pace and it was more Joel is like this "now" and Ellie is like this "now" but last episode he was like "that" and she was like "that" leaving us wandering why they are acting different from one ep to another. We didn't really get the in-between visuals and understanding but it was left up to assumptions and I felt Joel wasn't attentive to Ellie having to deal with cannibals and almost being eaten and raped. It would have been nice to see that interaction and discussion but He just waved spaghetti o's in her face and showed her a giraffe. I will say He did kick Ass for her at the end, he saved her but IMO it's Swiss Cheese writing with a ton of todays propaganda weaved in. If i had to choose between the 2 it's TWD all the way.
I mean, 11 seasons for TWD ... it doesnt look like a FAILED to me mate... i dont know what is this guy talking about plus the 2 shows it inspired and the spinoffs
Based on how the first season of TLOU progressed I'm guessing the people in charge of this can effectively take us through this story at a pace that's both good for the gamers and the people who haven't experienced the game. But things can always change, time will tell!
Not really... I'm not watching part 2. As someone who played the first game, the pace of the show was terrible and barely no zombies. So why tf would I give a shit ab Joel and Ellie.... Especially Elliee without Joel.
I started watching twd when I was 5 in 2010. It scared me a bit for the first 3 seasons, but I’ve rewatched the show hundreds of time. I’m actually on s5 rn, but twd is my favorite show of all time. It has a very very exciting future with the shows. Now that the lead actors have a role in the production of the show is major. I have faith these next twd shows will be top tier
First of all, TWD's first season was MUCH BETTER than TLOU's first season! And second, there's no chance TLOU would ever last for 11 seasons like TWD did!
We only had one season of "The Last of Us" so it's still too soon to say it worked. The walking dead, had a few seasons that were not popular but in my opinion it's the show that paved the way for other shows. Time will tell.
Walking Dead was a huge success. Survived 11 seasons when people stopped caring by season 6 or 7. I truthfully don't see last of us making it to season 5
If it doesn't, that will be because the creators don't intend for the story to go that long. My guess is it will go *until* a season 5 or so: Part II of the game will be seasons 2 and 3, and then I really would be surprised if a Part III doesn't happen, so I can see them releasing the game either shortly before or alongside a seasons 4 and 5 for the show. But beyond that, yeah, it probably wouldn't go on much longer, not out of any lack of interest or loss of viewership, but because the creators seem intent on keeping it a tight story that doesn't go on longer than it needs to. And for the record, I only ever saw season 1 of TWD so I can't comment on its quality as the seasons went on or anything, but just in general, I'd be pretty surprised if ANY serialized show could run for 11 seasons and not overstay it's welcome by the end. Game of Thrones is really the only one I can think of that would have benefited from that many seasons, simply because of how massive and complex the story is, but most stories just suffer from being drawn out that long.
The show runners for The Last of Us already said they're drastically changing the plot of season 2 from that of the second game after that majority of viewers taking a liking to Joel and Ellie's relationship in season 1. I'm pretty sure that means they're absolutely NOT going to kill off Joel's character anytime soon. If anything I predict they won't kill him until the end of the series or right before the last season at the soonest. The average viewer that never played the game will not want to watch the show without Pedro in it, nor those that hated this story arch from the second game. I could see them doing the Abby story still, but her not succeeding in killing Joel.
TWD Season 1 blows TLOU season 1 out of the water easily. Just because TWD fell off around 7-8 seasons in doesn't mean that it wasn't like the most watched TV show on basic cable for the longest time... I love TLOU but honestly the show left me a little disappointed. In my personal opinion I think they did an AMAZING job recreating the game and giving fan service; but I can't possibly imagine the longevity of the show especially if they follow the second games story to a T like they did the first. A LOT of people will stop watching.. Just like when Glen in TWD died. Even if it's accurate to the source.
I think they are both great shows but, at least so far the last of us is keeping much closer to the game the walking dead did the comic they just expand on it more. The monster in TLOU are alot more scarier for sure ,but there is more of a focus on the people it seems you also have to consider the fact that TWD is much closer in time to the original outbreak, if you go another 8 years in the future, you would have much more of a government or military control then they do. Love them both both are similar but also very different in both the infected ,and state of the world.

Oh well, maybe I’ll forget by the time we finally see S2.
Both are amazing. Don't care what anyone says. And whether u like it or not the walking dead changed the TV game forever
TWD literally one of the best TV shows of all time. And Rick Grimes is easily the goat of Tv
ong
The walking dead had at least ten seasons that's far from a failure.
Haven’t watched even a minute into the video but imma say BOTH SUCCEEDED!!!! neither one of them failed…thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
That “spoilers ahead” warning was way too quick. Cmon man
Definitely The Walking Dead
The walking dead is a bit more believable and arent afraid to get gorry which i love. At the last episode in the last of us I think it was unrealistic how joel without a silencer and not by surprise killed like 10 soldiers no problem. In the walking dead atleast when Rick defeats an enemy or enemies he used his intelligence and his group so its more believable.
The main show did go on way to long but the series finale hit the landing for me at least...but fear has never got old to me every season or two they shake this up in a major way
Exactly
I'm so annoyed with Fear but I can't stop watching. Somehow it just seems to get worse and there's no continuity.
Ughhh...did you just spoil Joel's storyline? You said "spoilers", I reached to mute but nooo, not fast enough 😡😭
I don't understand the hate TWD gets. From start to finish the show was incredible! The character growth, the villains, everything was amazing! TWD deserves way more praise than it gets. I can't wait for the new spin off shows! 😁
P.S. all I could think during the last episode of The Last Of Us when Joel was gunning everyone down in the hospital...the whole time I was thinking, "Joel is going full Rick Grimes!" 🤣
Joel does not have Rick's eyes...even in the last season scene He didn't say a word but his eyes said many so hyping things
It's the trendy thing to do for normies these days. Real fans of the genre know how much of a masterpiece the first 5 seasons were.
@@mindspank I found it even less intresting then the Abhram /Rosita
The Walking Dead 👍🏼
That was not a long time between "BTW spoilers ahead for TLOU2" and the actual spoilers...
*Spoilers*, then proceeds to issue spoiler with no time to pause lol 😂 😭
SERIOUSLY!!!! Horrible.
Negan's arc in TWD is pretty awesome IMO.
They only did one season with more than 16 episodes because it was the final season and they added a half season.
The Walking Dead Beats them all..final
i think both shows are great. the biggest problem with the walking dead is that it went on too long imo. which is probably one of the better problems as a show but that’s jus me
and TLoU is a bit too short, a couple episodes more couldve made it perfect
@@ernesto8290 fax the pacing is awful and they waste too episodes on filler
without watching the video, this title makes no sense
Don’t rip on the walking dead, one of the best shows ever
Loved it and Fear the Walking Dead.
The main difference between the 2 were TLoU stayed closer to the source material. That and TWD actually had monsters in the majority of the series.
We all get the living are the real monsters but we tune in for the zombies/infected.
TWD definitely worked. 11 seasons, spin-off shows, spin-off movies. Maybe you didn't like but lot of people did
Who said TWD not worked... Damn "Negan" is Legit actor ❤
I think what killed the walking dead was losing Carl - he was the secret protagonist the whole time, and the future, and after that nothing mattered
The walking dead was amazing for a while. It just went on for too long. The ending was pretty good.
Yeah but the show had the game to fall back on and it was definitely a bit overrushed
@@Dan55888 Just like TWD with its comics
My favorite TWD motto I had on a shirt. “Fight the Dead, Fear the Living.” When they started laughing nukes from beached submarines…they even lost me as a faithful watcher.
Thats fear not The main series
@@popcorndays786 I know that, just saying it’s all in the same universe.
The Walking Dead was awesome. Yes, season 8 was slow but it came back strong.
When TWD and GOT was at their peaks that was some of the greatest TV of all time.
There was a dip in writing quality and budget for 2 seasons before it started being good again. I don’t get how it failed in any regard beyond that.
TWD in general is better than TLOU
Ugh. You spoiled Season 2 for me. 😭😭😭 I didn’t get a chance to hit the pause button fast enough
TWD is and it always be my favorite tv show
Wow thanks for the millisecond long spoiler warning that did not give any sort of time to skip to.
That spoiler warning SUCKED! 😒 RIP Joel! 😢
wait.... i thought both worked? :O
I care about the walking dead and I'm excited for the rick show and I saw they are filming already
Man you've gotta give more than a second between "Spoilers ahead" and the spoilers :(
We'll also have to see how season 2+ goes on. The 2nd game had way more controversial reception. I think it is great but they will have their hands full trying to cover it
Folks gonna be upset
Still a great show, and the first season of Last Of Us was some of the best stuff I've seen in a long, long time 💯
Hey thats exactly when i stopped watching twd! Which is a shame cause season 1 is the best tv i ve ever witnessed...
@@georgelioulias3879 Yeah, it really was a great show in the beginning. Killing off Carl, was a ridiculous idea. I actually think that contributed to Andrew Lincoln leaving the show. Scott Gimple sucks as a show runner
The walking dead will always be better
For real. 1000% It has great actors, great acting, awesome storylines, nice plots. It has romance, suspense, action, sometimes comedy. The Walking Dead will always be better
When the bat-wielding, knee-bending, over-acting “Negan” entered TWD I was done.
Walking dead got stale after a few seasons for me. But let's not act like it didn't work
Why would you spoil the show for those who never played the game! 🤷♂️ That was a real 🤬 move!
At least Rick didn't get murdered by a golf club😂😂😂😂
Mannn Rick's fate in the comics read even more disrespectful. 😬
@@BoydOfPray 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I forgot about his fate. all I remember is Rick Killing Dwight .
@@trevorwalton5431 Little punk kid creeps in and shoots him in his bed!
Less and less* not last of us. Auto correct is out of control.
Still prefer walking dead
Quite a bit more
I think The Walking Dead worked because they had viewers for around 7 years then everyone kinda stopped but whenever season 10 came out that is when the views went up, they also have like 5 spin-offs and 11 seasons and millions of dollars. I think it worked pretty well.
Let’s be real season 1 of TWD > season 1 of TLOU
TWD season 1-4 > sesson 1 of TLOU
na to me season one of TLOU is better than season one of the walking dead but I still prefer twd easily
10 x
Thanks for the spoiler warning dude. I literally had less than a second to respond. Unbelievable
Oh nooo I didn't react fast enough to the spoiler warning.
Both are awesome.i loved shows post apocalyptic about zombies and huge fan of video games my favorite is the last of us
One thing for TWD, they had Andrew Lincoln, any other show, he would've been nomed for a Emmy
We only had one season of "The Last of Us" so it's still too soon to say it worked. The walking dead, had a few seasons that were not popular but in my opinion it's the show that paved the way for other shows. Time will tell.
TWD is my favorite thing. I'm not oblivious though. I know the showrunners made mistakes. But I will still defend the show until I die.
Both series work, except people stop watching walking dead after they killed glenn in season 7
Run time and source material are the key
I could see them doing the Abby story still, but her not succeeding in killing Joel.
coping hard I see. Emergency Awesome is full of shit, he doesn't have access to the scripts.
Joel is the best character of all time.
