How legit do you think this latest Sonic “leak” is on a scale of 1-10? 🤔
Oh we know it...and like you said about Sonic & Shadow Gens...technically a new Sonic game. Now that said...its a technical markup...not really a rewrite but additional stuff added that never happened before origionally. Now where could they take this regarding all past Sonic games? They're gonna do these old games in newer light eventually...they know its a cash hoard in the waiting. So that leaves the avoided Sonic game they refuse to talk about fully. Now why do you suppose that is? They don't hate it. We know they don't hate it. Plus The Marza Staff tweets....this is far far from a done deal!
A "3" at best. I think its much too early for them to be saying anything about the next game as of right now.

I don't mind it releasing next year. Give them time to really polish the game.
With a larger ensemble, I'd love another one like SA1 where the story ties together as you play with different characters. The first playthrough with Sonic and you're like "why is Knuckles here?" But then when you play as Knuckles it's like "oh, that's what was going on!"
That'd be the right way to do it.
I've always loved the way the Adventure games handled the story. The game is so replayable that way.

I can’t help but feel like “closer ties to the movies” simply means the games will release more closely to the release of the movies.

I had this idea for a Sonic game since December but my take on what the next Sonic game should be is titled "Sonic Seasons".
Plot: While chasing Dr Eggman, Sonic, Tails, Amy, & Knuckles get shot down and crash land on a place called Snowfall Island, an island in an eternal winter. After exploring their surroundings, Team Sonic gets caught in the middle of a territorial war against Arctic Wolves and Arctic Foxes. After helping the Foxes push back the Wolves, Sonic and his friends are told that for years, the two tribes have been at war over a relic known as the Snowfall Crystal. However, Dr Eggman steals said crystal hoping to use it as a source for a geothermal energy collector to build a new Badnik Army, unaware that such a device could destroy Snowfall Island. Now, Sonic and his friends help the tribes put aside their differences to help save their home.
The story would follow in the line of darker Sonic stories such as Sonic Frontiers and Shadow Generations. One of the newest features of the game is the ability to switch between Sonic, Tails, Amy, & Knuckles at any time similar to Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. There would also be mini-games, collectibles, side quests, rival battles against either Dr Eggman or Metal Sonic, and Bonus Throwback Levels recreating iconic locations from the Classic era including Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, Stardust Speedway, and more.
It would still be nice for Sega to release both the next mainline game and the Sonic Unleashed Remaster in 2026 for the franchises 35th anniversary

Been saying a central will come out in late March or early April for awhile now, and I stand by that. With Sonic X Godzilla coming soon, Sonic X DC Wave 2 happening in May and after Megaman comes this month they're going to reveal new update characters for SRCW, it only seems likely that they will want to do a central before any of that. Also, centrals come out in March before, so it's not unusual. So, I think not too long after Megaman comes out.
I think we will get some sonic racing crossworlds news next week, possibly in the form of a sonic central

I think this game will feature the general cast, but team dark may be replaced with silver and blaze, mainly because of shadow generations featuring them as the main characters.

We need a Sonic game that people will hold dearly and be very replayable. Something on par with Super Mario 64 and Kingdom Hearts II as those games are super replayable!
I think we're either gonna get an unleashed or an 06 remake this year. I mean it is 20 years since 06 so it would make sense. Sega has also said they want to remake 06.

Here’s what i want, 2026 a Sonic anniversary collection or remaster of fan favorite games. 2027 a new Sonic so let Sega cook enough to satisfied us.
I'd like a hard reboot in the world of Archie Comix and be a part of the freedom fighters. Featuring an open world of Mobius with Robotropolis and Knothole Village in the Great Forest. Side quests and adventure to many zones that you can also fly to on Tails' Airplane. A reintrouction to Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, etc. Just a pipe dream though. Heck, even bring back Sonic SatAM like they did X-Men 97' would be great.
I don't mind live service if it's like periodic additions of levels/campaigns, maybe characters, etc. But with the huge caveate that the base game should be a self contained experience, not have them keep leading us on and on with no proper resolution
Hope I can achieve the true ending only playing with Sonic. I hate how Adventure forces me to play with characters I don't want to.
My ideal Sonic game is.
Mix of exploration of Frontiers and Hubs of Adventure (imagine running aroung in the middle of the city or scaling a mountain), level transitions like Adventure, I'm not really a fan of level select menus or entrances like Frontiers, I prefer to enter a place and boom, there's a level.
Story: Forces-like, but serious this time, sense of urgency, actual gotta go fast or we're doomed kinda feeling (Kinda what Heroes did with the day limit, but "real" this time around).
Characters: Few, but important, not just "Oh I'm here also", I think like 3-5 playable characters would be enough, branching stories like Adventure and 06. Other characters could appear in the middle of the level, like 06, but instead of playing as them, they act as support, for example Tails appears, and instead of controlling Tails directly, you just call him to fly over some place, etc.
And since I really like time related powers, I really want a boss that can use chaos control and so, the trio (Sonic, Shadow, Silver) must also use it to keep up and defeat it while everything else is frozen. They can also add some time-dimension hopping aswell, I can just imagine, in the boss battle, the boss just trying to teleport and you keep teleporting with it to various levels to follow it.
I hope sonic games wouldnt look like movie sonic. Its a downgrade from your current look. Sonic 06 has always been the best interpretation of how realistic sonic should look like proportion wise
I’m fine waiting for sonic frontiers 2 in 2027 but I also want a small game this year like a game with Amy as the main character fighting metal. Possibly learning more about her psychic powers and cards like Zelda and peach own games or if they want something more relaxing then maybe a rhythm game with a lot of there songs and get lots of outfits and a story mode if they want.

They just need to take what they did with frontiers and make it better but they did say they were going forward with the play style from frontiers so my hopes are high because I don't want the combat to get taken out just improved upon
Thank You!! I honestly like sonic 06. It would have been my favorite if not for some of the glitches and worse....the non-stop running sections for sonic. Most of the glitches I could deal with, but I was constantly dying in those non-stop sections. Once you die you have to start all over to stage one again, even though the non-stop was stage 5 of the section you were on.
I would absolutely LOVE! If they polished sonic 06. I don't mind waiting longer for a good game ^ ^.
Two things.
1. For movie synergy they should make a sub series of games that are canon to the movies. Imagine a tie in game where you play as Amy, but with Devil May Cry inspired combat, Boom or Adventure inspired platforming & a 4-6 hour long story that explains what she was doing before 3's post credits scene.
2. If they want it to have longevity they should go with what Monster Hunter Wilds did. A full complete experience & story in the base game, free updates that added extra things to do & bite sized story content & two or three meaty story expansions that are sequels in all but name.
There is only one reason the new mainline game can't release this year is GTA 6
It's gonna be before 6 in November I think
What I mean is GTA VI is gonna be an extremely big release people would be too focused on that before anything else

I hope "live service" just means an online multiplayer mode, I'd love something similar to shadow the hedgehog 2005 multiplayer mode but with online and WITHOUT guns, I'd love to see an open brawler or something for online
Like a 4-5 person party as Team Sonic in the open world would be great!! Platforming and taking down badniks together in a large world with your buddies as Sonic and friends seems like a great time

It's not gonna be a remastered it's definitely gonna be a new mainline game. Because if you think about it, it didn't take long to redo sonic generations they added more animation to them and all of that. Besides if it would be a remastered or some sort, then why would it have a actual good "story" to it. It's actually a good thing Sega is not saying anything about new sonic game that means there focus on making it the BEST sonic game if they truly state it to be and I find it'll mostly be similar to frontiers or shadow generations with the open world since they have being trying it more lately also don't forget chaotix documents are canon to the game so we mostly might be getting a returning infinite because sage couldn't asset the "phantom" file

10:11 Takashi Iizuka should tell that to every other gaming company that remade their older games for a new generation, Crash, Mario, Spyro, and Yooka-Laylee, those gaming companies went out of their way to remake classic games or games with a decent to disappointing reception and make them so much better, sometimes the best way to move forward is to return to the past and improve the past and Sonic needs to return to the past, and not the Classic era past, the early 3D era past of Sonic to improve and fix the flaws of the Adventure games and Heroes so that Sonic can have a better outcome in the future, so gamers wouldn’t need to play on older hardware or if they can’t afford a gaming PC, especially with what’s happening with gaming PC prices and gaming companies hoarding RAM for Generative AI and the tariff situation here in the United States.

dude sonic 06 is my fav sonic game of all time too! second to lost world-ish, but everytime i say that people think im crazy, but you literally said everything im thinking! sega should definitely revisit 06 sometime soon if they aren't doing so already because the story genuinely was interesting and different & the gameplay had so much potential!

i did recreated dr eggman family tree since the game is not very well understood since movie sonic has more freedom to not copy every line from game stories. We can create our owned by freely who writes it better. I know creating new villain is not easy but recreating stories it is better to modify sonic cd story and sonic boom into what we Americans want to see in a film first.

Yeah, guess the next game probably is 2027. Sad that probably means neither Amy nor Metal will be getting anything close to the Year of Shadow treatment (despite both kind of needing it for their own reasons); a mainline game is kinda gonna eat that year, and while they both have a chance of being relevant, of course Sonic's gonna be the star.
Not sure what to think about anything "live service"-y going on with this next game. Even if it's just trying to add some longevity to the game...what does that mean? Is the story being released in parts or episodes or something? That could be really hit or miss I think.

As long as Sega doesn't change the voice cast and dialogue (example, keep the original voices -Jason Griffith, Liza Ortiz, ECT the same even with just archive recording from the original version and NOT re-dub the whole thing with the current voice actors) and keep it as it is, and only focus on graphic upgrade, I'm happy.
If they do, I'm not buying the Unleashed Remaster and just stick with my current one on my PS3, thanks.😅

Since, Sonic The Hedgehog is going to have a new game, here’s what I would love to see: Sally Acorn, Bunnie Rabbot, and the Freedom Fighters in it, a super great well done written story, Eggman mentioning his real last name, Sonic calling Eggman, not just Robotnik but also Buttnik, Tails Sally and Bunnie having a bonding moment, Sally calling Tails honey and giving him the Funny Kiss, Tails calling Sally, Aunt Sally, Shadow FINALLY and actually treating Tails like a brother, beautiful orchestra music, open world, game stage completing levels, some side missions, Sonia and Manic mentioned, and the other characters from AoSTH, and Tails mentioning Barby Koala, too.
Even though, I don’t know if that’ll happen, but, it’s what I would love.
