The country currently has 4 broken refineries with a capacity of 450,000 B/D, but all the refineries are not working because of corruption in the government. Nigerian elites are killingly selling imported dirty fuel to Nigerians and exporting clean Bonny light to the West. This is the ROI of democracy that has yet to deliver any good governance.
The good news is that the current government has started rehabilitating the old government refineries at a cost of ($3 billion) , the country also has 5 modular refineries and other industrialists like BUA Group and Petrolex are building new refineries.
Nigeria has three national oil refineries but like every government run corporation in Nigeria corruption has eaten it to a stand still...My hope is that this dangote refinery would actually make Nigerian government fix at least one of the refineries and start producing petrol again as well.
The refinery will save Nigeria 🇳🇬 government 25-30 billion $$ annually that's a lot and far overdue. That money can go to education and other infrastructure projects.
