      @@urbandiscount - we’re told it’s wrong and potentially dangerous to oversimplify and categorize any such group of people as “the Jews”. Who are they? What is anti-semitism? Is it any idea a Jew doesn’t like? Or is it a bad idea about any Jew? Entering into a discussion often reveals the chimera-like quality of any reference to a such a collective. The term first entered the popular lexicon in the mid 19th century when Wilhelm Marr used it as a way of defining the difference between a racial category from that of a collective attitudinal or “spirit” concept. Are “the Jews” a race, a collective attitude or “spirit”, a religion, or all three? You say “as Jews we certainly don’t” need Christ. The scripture and the Church say you and everyone else do need Him for your eternal salvation. That will never change regardless of the complexity or one-sidedness of the discussions in Catholic/Jewish dialogue. Dialogue necessitates the sharing of two points of view.

    Is it possible the forgiving of debts in the Pater Noster is related to the jubilee laws in Deut 15, maybe related to the "appointed time has grown short" and ideas from the book of Jubilees? Something like the Messianic age aligning with the jubilee of jubilees, and thus coming with debt forgiveness.

    • @pfgilligan
      @pfgilligan Год назад

      When Jesus said the words "Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who indebted to us" He was telling us, in fact warning us to forgive our enemies if we want to be forgiven by the Father. If we do not forgive others even our worst enemies, then we cannot expect to be forgiven our sins. So we can lose our Souls and be condemned to hell by unforgivness. It is very serious.

    Was the Our Father prayer said liturgically? It is said the last line, no longer found in modern editions but it proves it existed as liturgical material. Much enjoyed his and other talks. If gentiles are not to keep commandments dose that mean gentiles do not love Jesus because He says if you love me keep my commandments? And one more is Baptism like a Mikva?

    I believe if you read the Scriptures carefully what you see is how the Pharisee's we're teaching the people to follow the Law through the circumcision of their flesh and the works of their hands. But Paul could see that by following the Law we cast a shadow in the image of a Pharisee which looks like; pride, self-righteousness and judgment. So Paul sought to teach the people to follow Christ through the circumcision of their heart and the work of the Holy Spirit. For he knew that those who follow Christ, who is The Living Word, we would cast a shadow in the image of Christ which looks like the Law, having been sifted through a new heart and spirit of Love (Jeremiah 31:31-33).

    Our Lord Jesus Christ does want to die. He came into the world to die. And save sinners. “Not My Will but Thine be done” refers to the sadness He felt at knowing not all men would be saved but only some. Many would reject Him and therefore NOT be saved by His shedding of His precious blood and His death.

      If he is God and he didn't want to die, he just wouldn't have died. I think the concept that Jesus would, as the physical embodiment of God, would have to choose to be hungry, thirsty, tired, weary, sad, etc. Is often lost on people.
      And that he would have to choose to die as well. He can't be killed because only he can separate his soul from his body, so his life is something he has to give up of his own accord.
      It's a very profound concept, and too often neglected

    • @michellecheriekjv4115
      @michellecheriekjv4115 Год назад +1

      ...I agree that He absolutely knew that He had come to die. "And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem." Luke 9:51 Even in v53 "And they did not receive him, because his face (plan), was as though he would go to Jerusalem." Nothing could change his plan. But as far as him praying in the Garden "If possible take this cup from me" Jesus was also showing his humanity, he was in a flesh body and he was preparing himself to drink the cup of wrath for every person who would ever be saved. Sweating as it were, huge drops of blood. Knowing for a time, on that Cross the Father would crush him and turn His face away. Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him: he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin..." This was the plan from Eternity past. God does not have a plan B. He does not fail. Acts 3:18 "But those things, which God before had shown by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath fulfilled." Peter says here. And Acts 2:28 He tells us it was determined before hand by God's counsel to be done. Jesus was there in Eternity past when this was determined. He knew, still it was not easy. But look what he has done for us. It's truly incredible. That's why no man can justify himself. God is beyond Glorious. 📖🌷

    REASONS WHY THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH
    1. You can read about it in the New
    Testament church. (MATTHEW
    16:18; ROMANS 16:16; ACTS 4:12)
    2. It has no creed but the Bible, binds
    no name on members but Christ’s.
    (ACTS 11:26; l PETER 4:16)
    3. Its acts of worship are patterned
    after New Testament examples.
    (JOHN 4:24; ACTS 20:7;
    I CORINTHIANS 16:1-2; EPHESIANS
    5:19; COLOSDIANS 3:16)
    4. It teaches that UNITY can be
    achieved on all doctrinal disputed
    questions. JOHN 17:21:
    I CORINTHIANS 1:10; EPHESIANS
    4:4-6)
    5. Its future: Eternal Glory with Christ.
    I THESSALONIANS 4:17;
    MATTHEW 7:14)
    THE CHURCH MUST WARE HIS NAME

    If the New Testament is considered anti- semitic, then the Old Testament is much more so. God wants to wipe out the entire population of the Israelites and make a new one from Moses's offspring. The Old Testament contains very strong terms against the Jews uttered by God while condemning their unfaithfulness to him. The Jewish prophets too used strong language against the Jews.

That no man can keep the law, and therefore be justified on his own merit. That we must simply cast everything upon Jesus Christ and He will justify us thru His own righteousness. The only righteousness there is. Then the Holy Spirit will lead us to follow Jesus with the laws written upon our hearts. The parable of the Pharisee and the Tax collector was to show us that no matter what we do, we can not do enough, on our own. It's God who justifies. God must step in first. God must change a man, thru the New Birth, re-uniting us back to God. That is why the Tax collector said "Be merciful to me a sinner." He realized at that moment that it's all God and God's mercy. God Bless.
