Central valley of California. A few mornings get in the the low 30s. We wrap up the screened area with a couple layers of plastic and have a heat element on a timer. In 3 winters we haven't had any bird-sicles.
What a beautiful aviary! My dad wants to build one on our side porch for our single male budgie, Beaker. Those are some very happy birds iin your aviary!!
I like alot.. I'm getting ready to build one indoors. Ohio Valley weather kinda sucks sometimes. My dimensions are going to be 75 inches wide, 92 inches tall and about 5-6 feet in depth. Going to put a door in the middle of the cage too. It's going to be my summer project. :)
budgies are prone to get many types of respiratory issues. its not from being outdoors. australia is a continent of extremes. burning hot days well below freezing nights. budgies natually retain this hardiness even thru countless generations from the wild to captivity.i currently have about 250 american budgies in an outdoor unheated flight year round in tennessee. they even love being sprayed down with a gentle mist from the hose in the middle of winter!no problems.
Hi i have an Africa Grey does anyone know if this is safe to do? What about spiders and mosquitoes. I would love to build and outdoor aviary. My parrot is bored a lot. I love my parrot so much! Birds are the best pets every.
Hope he isn't self mutilating yet, smart birds such as African greys are very prone to this and if get bored can do serious damage to themselves. Please do some research, you can't rely on other people to answer your questions for you.
"Parakeet' isn't another word for budgie. It just means small bird/parrot with long tail. Aside from this, you have one perch (Swings are not included) for far too many birds. You'd need to add at least 6 different perches for this many or more especially if you want to take advantage of the space. Also need toys and foliage. It's a pretty bare aviary..even the quail could afford to do something other than eat. Add some longs, some hide-out corners for the quail and budgies. I consider this a huge waste of an aviary if I'm being honest, you just haven't done anything with it.
Parakeets come from the dry Austrian outback, not your backyard. Stick your head in the freezer and tell me if you can breathe. You should do some research before you buy a pet. I've had plenty of bird die from respiratory problems. I've been rasing budgies for a few years and had plenty of them die and reproduce. Does your bird cough alot they might have a problem. Anyways you should do the research before you comment.
"Parakeet' isn't another word for budgie. It just means small bird/parrot with long tail. But your point does still stand, it doesn't matter what kind of bird you get people should ALWAYS research before buying.
These are Australian budgies right ? So they have no problems with Australian temperatures ! So does American budgies, they adapt to the American envoirments and temperatures so no need to research on stuff, your just wasting your time on something you don't need to research. Stop being a smarty pants, did you know Einstein had autism and he is really smart ? Sorry for rambling on there ._. ANYWHOOO,and I'm sorry for being a smartypants And even if you like own a 1000 birds and bred 50 , it
What a wonderful set up! Gotta love the keets.

RKClays I'm a few years late but nice aviary! I like your idea of the fan too.
Make sure not to crossbreed but thats really cool
I only have two but I hope to do something like that someday
that's a nice aviary most of it is wood so raccoons can't break in very easy
nice!
It is nice, but needs more natural branches or manzanita perches.A safe tree or bush inside would give them a fun place to play and hide.
Yo nice!! But add perches on the opposite side of the nest and in the corners so they can land on something. Please :) .
Love it.
Please upload more !
Awesome. Id love to do this but its 100 degrees in the summers

I've been researching into building a bird house and discovered a great resource at Aviary magic method (check it out on google)
Wow is it not obvious that he just built the Aviary? The birds haven't even had time to poop on anything! Give him some time to install perches.
Your Parkeets shoudn't be exposed to drafts. Its Bad for there respiratory system
