Alot of my belief comes from my dad and logic. My dad worked for NASA as a mechanical and space aeronautics engineer. He is a convert to the church here in Ohio. My dad is the smartest man I know and growing up I was taught to think logically. The church just made sense to me especially the restoration here in America. And since I love this country and the founding fathers and constitution, I know the purpose for America. My testimony and faith grew from there. I've witnessed many miracles in my life. Small blessings are the best!

We actually pay the $17.99 a month for a RUclips account to watch "ad free". Face Book is doing ads now too. You can't watch anything that you aren't interrupted with a commercial. When they interrupt my program, I click out, no matter how interested I am, I'm out (the ads were pretty base). We have really enjoyed the ad free experience of uninterrupted spiritual devotionals that you and all the other "Come Follow Me" teachers have brought to us. We have both learned so much. Having the "quiet" in our home has allowed us to ponder and linger on the thoughts and principles you have brought to us. Thank-you for digging deeper and sharing your finds with us. We are so very grateful!

Bro Jared- verse 32 - the Lord withholding His Spirit.... I had always thought of this and similar scriptures more as a sort of punishment/'frustrated' response. You have opened my eyes that this is not consistent with the nature and character of Jesus. Your point-- one side must acquiesce in order to cease the strife, that the Lord 'submits' to our agency has brought a profound and chastening acknowledgement. That the omnipotent, merciful and just Lord of glory, willingly submits to my mortal and sometimes unwise use of agency is beyond humbling, words fail and only tears were left to flow ........
As others have stated in hundreds of comments --- thank you for your insight/knowledge and faith. Each week treasures and gems fall from your teachings enriching our souls as we drink deeply from living water. The scriptures have a new beauty for me now; I have had the privilege of teaching them for many, many years and this depth is what I have longed for. How blessed are we to have you!

Two years ago our 14 year old son died suddenly. Regarding the Lord's vision and our mortal concept of time, I want to share an experience. I was watching a neighbor's one year old son for 90 minutes. He was really sad that his mom was gone. I could distract him but then he would remember she was gone and cry. I rubbed his back thinking, "He just doesn't understand. It's only 90 minutes." The Spirit taught me in that moment. Heavenly Father comforts us, knowing it's only 90 minutes. "I know it feels long, but I promise, it's only 90 minutes."

My love to you for your influence in the world and for still allowing yourself to feel and grow.

I understand your concerns about the advertisments in front of your videos. You don't want your motivation to be in question, but I was actually excited to see that you had commercials because that means that you are reaching into the homes and lives of thousands of people, and spreading the gospel. You Tube only adds ads to those that reach a lot of people, so in a way, it is a compliment. They don't bother with those that are not popular. I found you last year in June, and have been faithfully watching every lesson. My scriptures are much more marked with thoughts and ideas that I would not have come upon on my own. Because of Covid, you started this channel, and because of Covid, I study my sciptures much more in depth then I ever have, and have already been richly blessed because of this study. Thank you so much for your testimony, your teachings, your stories and your sense of humor. God bless.

I have been recognizing the parallels between the recent sections and the great Exodus as well as Joshua and the other spies report in Numbers 13 & 14. In another podcast, I loved their point that Zion is made up of homes where everyone in a household has let God prevail so that all could be United as one. You really have to see Zion with spiritual eyes and I think that is how we minister effectively.

D&C 63:39 pairs really well with Elder Eyring’s last conference talk “live in a way so when the call comes you can walk away easily”. Why do you think he used this example at this time? By diving into the footnotes of this talk and other talks it becomes clear what the brethren are trying to prepare us for.

Dear Bro. Jared another great and timely lesson to keep us humble and hopeful as we seek to listen and obey the Lord. You spoke well about our personal relationship with justice and mercy. I've been much blessed in seeing the Lord both smile and frown upon me during my days in mortality. I'm grateful for his stern firm correction from time to time as much for this loving kindness and forgiveness. Surely he loves those who he chastens and redeems those who hear, listen, obey & repent. You know him by the way you teach and I bear witness he knows you by the things I've seen. My seeing came after the great trials of my faith as I've shared with you in the past. The new commandments continue to come as I have a open mind to receive & obey. Thanks for teaching these doctrines openly & clearly in these modern times.

Unfortunately no. There doesn't seem to be a way of getting rid of the commercials on the creator end, though viewers can subscribe to RUclips premium (an extra fee I'm sure) to turn off ads. But speaking of the "Like" icon, it's actually really helpful if viewers click it because RUclips then begins circulating the video more so other viewers can see it. So "Like" away! :) Thanks for asking!

    Bro Jared;
You have mentioned a number of times how the Gospel is composed of a number of opposites which we must put together to understand the doctrine completely. I love how you express that otherwise mysterious conundrum. While researching something completely different, I found a supportive quote from, of all people, Carl Jung: "The sad truth is that man’s real life consists of a complex of inexorable opposites - day and night, birth and death, happiness and misery, good and evil."
As a wordsmith, I find a lot in Jung's writings that are excellent, and his use of 'inexorable' here is one such example. These opposites just don't seem stoppable. You must do battle with the opposing points until you wrestle out of them the last drops of understanding -- but even then, I believe, it is the juxtaposition of the intractable opposites that make each that much more meaningful.
However, I would have NEVER seen the correlation between Jung's comment and the Gospel if it was not for your teaching this point with such clarity. After seeing it, I wonder at what else I have missed.
In my own life, I have tried to teach in a way that my audience could take what I was presenting and use it in other areas of their life. When I saw that happen, I felt like I was successful - the more I saw it, the more successful I felt. Well, my friend, I have had a fair number of times when things I heard from you in these videos has translated to some other area of my life -- so in my book, YOU are a "successful" teacher!
    Thanks!

Wonderful lesson, Jared! I love it when you throw in Spanish phrases...a language I would love to be fluent in speaking.
I have a question. Is it possible ‘Zion’ was moved to “the tops of the mountains” (Utah) because of the persecution that made Missouri impossible? It is the Salt Lake Valley that was a desert that blossomed as a rose. All nations flowed unto it, and the Lord states in D&C 124 that he accepted their offering to build Zion in Missouri, but it was no longer required! Plus, Missouri is not and never was a desert! Just curious about why everyone keeps focusing on Missouri? I’m thinking maybe Bruce R McConkie’s remarks, which mirrored Joseph Fielding Smith’s writings (which he gathered and reprinted, I believe, yes?) may have actually become a confusion that has distracted many saints from seeing a different reality?🤷🏻‍♀️ Are there other scriptures besides those in Doctrine and Covenants (63, 84, etc...) that say Jackson County is the place of Zion? Scriptures or official statements by a prophet that show up later than section 124, where the Lord excused the saints from building the temple in Jackson County? I know there are other ‘quotes from other prophets out there, but were they speaking as prophets or just giving their opinion? I hope you don’t mind me asking, but you have such a great command of the scriptures and I’d love to hear what your thoughts are about this topic!

But also in the church I wonder if a few of us are rushing to quick towards the Second Coming of our Savior that leads to missing the test of faith we need now.

I was hoping you'd explain verse 17 in greater depth regarding all liars and those who loveth and maketh a lie. I stand accused of being a liar. I don't loveth and plan to make a lie. But admittedly, I have lied with many justifications and tend to exaggerate or embellish facts, the truth. I have also spent the last 30 years becoming increasingly aware of this weakness striving to be careful, to be more exact and to speak truth. I pray to have the spirit and say the right words, words in the right way, when I know I'll be in a group or circumstance where conversation and sharing occur, to just speak truth. Does this make sense? I catch myself and restate things more exactly. I repent and my heart is sincere. I truly desire to not be a liar, even still I become aware that my view of truth and what I said doesn't always line up as true with someone else's view or remembrance. I think there is progress and hope because I'm still trying but there is no perfection. I feel guilty to the point of wondering if, after even knowing there is good in me, am I lost anyway. When I read verse 17, I recognize my problem and feel that guilt. I also hope it doesn't completely apply to me because it's not my nature to purposefully plan, nuture, deceive or hurtfully lie. Any insight will be gratefully appreciated. I learn so much from you.

To walk out we had to walk past the parents of the man who did the filming and as we went others stood and followed us. I was so disappointed to have helped support the movie financially not expecting this!
