I'll never forget the Ninja Turtle figures having a rectangular piece of plastic that had all the accessories. I remember my favorite turtle figure was definitely Slash. My favorite vehicle was that "pizza" shooting tank thing. I remember it shot those discs pretty fast and if you hit someone in the eye it could mess them up. I took the top part off the treads and used it to shoot the pizza discs at my sister lol. I honestly still remember what the "ooze" smelled like in the toy that had it go through the pipes.
The Ooze smelled wonderful. Like soap and plastic. My sister was the one who shot me with my pizza thrower lol. It actually did hurt. I think the 2022 action figure line had it's own pizza thrower, though it looked different.
Playmates at does a good job when it comes to pricing their toys, not just TMNT but also the Godzilla X Kong toys as well, they may not be perfect but are fairly priced with each figures being $10 especially for how well articulated both Kong and Scar King are.
for $40 bucks in 35 tmnt year you could get 4 mirage inspired turtles with black and white color scheme with red masks while for $40 star wars cant get you a two pack.
Another comparison that could be made is between Hasbro's 12" Titan Series figures for Marvel and DC's 12" figures by either Mattel (when they had the license) or Spinmaster (current holders of the license). You would think Hasbro would make the better figures since they are the bigger company, but their quality is almost nonexistent (specially at the pricepoint they are asking).
For Star Wars I've mostly moved on from Hasbro and started collecting Jazwares Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles. It brings me full circle because I remember as a kid wanting vehicles more than figures from characters unless they were meant to go inside said vehicles.
Man, toys were so cheap when I was a kid. These are Ollie's prices, normal retail for this stuff would be like $20. A Ninja Turtle back in the day would have been $4 at Toys R Us. Also now I'm depressed because I just saw Chrome Dome is upwards of $400 loose and I used to have that toy, though so much chrome wore off it I doubt it would have gone for that much.
Keep in mind that Leia is a repack of a figure from around 2014. Newer ones have better Carrie Fisher head sculpt, and on some of them the range of movement is better.
When I was a kid I didn't like SW figures because the crappy articulation. I was more of a GI. Joe kid. I didn't watch G.I. Joe, it wasn't on where I lived, so I made up my own characters and such. I also liked the rip off G.I. Joes. Also loved TMNT figures as a kid, had a TON of them. Wanted to add that I played with SW, but with Lego. I'm too old to have 'official' SW Lego when I was a kid but I used the clear toilet plunger elements as Light Sabers.
i used to have a lot of Gen1 power ranger figures, excellent plastic, articulations and many sizes. you don't see many if any figures like that anymore
@ I think the re-release of SW movies killed articulation. Toys seemed to have evolved then they released the Kenner style SW action figures which sold really well so every toy devolved into them. They were not selling well for the playability they were selling well to collectors. Toys suffered.
Quality comes in different times and budget. When the products are good, they can be reused for other products. That is how the Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and Metroid video games managed to look and play good that sell-unlike the Pokémon games these days.
When I was a kid in the 80s, my Star Wars guys were either frozen in ice (we called it carbonite), had their faces melted off with a magnifying glass, or were blown apart with fire crackers. "Collecting" wasn't in our vocabulary. Such a waste now that I look back at it.
I've been saying this kind of stuff ever since Disney got a hold of Star Wars and Marvel. Disney honestly never has seemed to care about real action figures and it shows heavily after they grabbed these IP's. Look at the tons of awesome Star Wars and Marvel toys before with tons of articulation detail and accessories vs after disney got them and dumbed them all down. They see 'action figures' as nothing more than an extension of their plush collectables with a tiny bit more articulation. They don't take it seriously and think since its a DISNEY BRAND now that people will continue to buy even though the quality dropped off the empire state building.
I love the playmates line of turtles. I collected every edition of them they are durable and i perfer them to neca. But stop collecting because i didnt like the new movie. The figures still look cool tho.
I want to get some He-Man figures but we don't have any Ollies in OZ. They are 35 bucks each, Over then you can pick em up for 10 bucks. I love that color geeky has on her nails, Bravo. Good choice.
I've never bought a figure before (I'm in my 20s) and would easily, easily pay four or five hundred dollars for a Shin Godzilla I saw the other day. I had never wanted figures before then. I wouldn't even steal these Star Wars figs, though the TMNT stuff interests me. I would collect those Ninja Turtles for sure.
Managed to get all 4 classic style turtles in aldi (uk) for £8 each but normally they were like £15 each or something Yet I paid £20 for a black series stormtroopers once and the gun was this shitty cheap rubber kind of stuff and it came out of the box basically bent in half and he could barley hold it right
Please talk about the recent Conan comics by Titan comics. They are absolutely badass and Solomon Kane back up story in Savage sword of Conan is equally fantastic
@@trenthoward6800 I won't even buy them anymore unless it's a G1 reissue. Too complicated to transform regularly plus high price points lead to that call
I know that star wars is important for the history of action figures, but at this point its painfully clear that even the soylent drinkers are sick of it. It's 4,000~ figures deep, and 99% of them were pure trash even before disney infected the series.
You completely misunderstood this. The 17 dollar stormtrooper is not ment for parents to buy there kids, it's meant for adult collectors that will display it and want something nice of good quality to show off, not a child's toy to play with or get them laughed at. The 10 dollar Darth Vader is ment for parents to buy their kids hence why it's stripped down and cheaper.
That Darth Vader toy looks like the one that's been at Five Below in different packaging the past few years.

"He bit me!"
Raphael always was the edgiest of the turtles. Accurate to the character.
One thing the toy industry and the gaming industry have in common, is that these indie companies are giving them a run for their money.
Playmates at does a good job when it comes to pricing their toys, not just TMNT but also the Godzilla X Kong toys as well, they may not be perfect but are fairly priced with each figures being $10 especially for how well articulated both Kong and Scar King are.
"He bit me"
Oh crap it's like Toy Soldiers.
I remember back in the early 90's I had a set of the 4 turtles, a Super Shredder, a Casey Jones, and the turtle van. Good times.
As a kid I always preferred more points of articulation.
for $40 bucks in 35 tmnt year you could get 4 mirage inspired turtles with black and white color scheme with red masks while for $40 star wars cant get you a two pack.
And thoses suck
For $40 you can get 1 NECA TMNT Turtle now, though.

Next will be a $12.99 Legends scale (4") Transformer vs a $33.99 Voyager scale (6.5-7")

I really liked your toy review. Please do more at some point!

I truly hope that Playmates gets the Star Wars license! Great video you guys!
I also really recommend chrcking out the Jakks Pacific Sonic and Nintendo figures.
Kneon sniffed Vader

How in the hell did Kneon cut his finger on a child's toy????
Dedication and talent.
The plastic tray I think.

I’m tempted to go to Ollie’s just to get a good Luke figure

I feel like the 10 dollar starwars toy is ment more for Play like a children's toy and the more expensive starwars toys are for collectors to display
We don't have alis here on the west coast
$10 can also get you some of the new Godzilla X kong toys from playmates.
as a toy collector TMNT has never let me down. Its the transformers that have really jumped in price
Giant Force Pizza - 😂

I still don't know how he hurt himself?? Was it a sharp piece from where he ripped off the ninja turtle accessories?
The Vader's paint apps ain't that great either, his instrument panel is missing a bunch of details

So odd seeing the hands of neon and geeky. I need you to cover the hand with cartoon hands 🤨
Hey, Lea is the scale of the TMNT figures!
Mutant Mayhem 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
"Ollie's is the Star Wars graveyard"
you mispronounced "Disney"
Out of curiosity was Casey in the lineup? He was my favorite dude, just some rando that wanted to help people with basic sports gear 😂
That rocko movie was woke as fuck.
They want money.
Please talk about the recent Conan comics by Titan comics. They are absolutely badass and Solomon Kane back up story in Savage sword of Conan is equally fantastic
On your other channel of course
I remember in thè 90's potf was $3-$5 bucks! 😂
Yeah I saw these at Walmart the other day way overpriced for being so small and cheaply made. The new turtles figures suck
Now do Transformers 😂
You may as well be asking him to dump the whole shaker of salt on to the wound.
@@trenthoward6800 I won't even buy them anymore unless it's a G1 reissue. Too complicated to transform regularly plus high price points lead to that call
Oh hand reveal 😮 lol

I don't even buy toys anymore. I prefer the toy statues for adults. Toys have gone downhill since the 2000s.

This is correct
