It makes perfect sense that they would charge that much more for the nxt. It introduces a completely new and innovated lace system that is not on the market and is one of the best performance basketball shoes of 2k17. Price shouldn't be a concern on shoes especially since nike almost always has sales on their shoes online a couple moths into the life of the shoe. As of now the nxt's are available on nike for 120 so price isn't an issue at this point.
I'm a big Lakers and Kobe fan, I was really looking forward to getting the AD until I watched your reviews and didn't get them. Also I'm nit getting these ones and maybe if I buy another pair of Kobes in the future, it will be when they release a retro from 1 to 5 (I still had the last 6 in pretty good condition) and while that happens, well, those PG1 Shining really were a nice cop.

My son disagrees with you about the Kobe AD. He likes them quite a bit....he had better luck with them than the XI which he had traction issues with. The XI with the translucent soles are particularly problematic on dusty gym floors. Still despite that, I just IDed a pair of XI in a custom Laker colorway and full length Zoom. NIke is still selling those. Get them while they last.
put the mentality outsole on these and it will definitely turn into FIRE!!!!! after playing basketball, you can wear it casually and it will works with anything cz the design is very subtle
I agree with you on the price 100% this shoe will perform pretty similar to the Kobe 8, 9, and 11. The drop in midsole setup is great but it's an old technology. The LeBron and KD models of this year both featured cushion setups that have never been used before and still came in under $200. The budget model Kobe Instinct uses the setup too. The value is just not here.

I'm tired of paying $200+ for a pair of shoes that eventually will show up at outlets for half that price. We have the AD, The AD Mid, and the NXT. They should've just called the NXT the Kobe 12, and yes $160 would still be a fair price for the NXT. It's not a $200 sneaker, sorry. The tech doesn't warrant $200.
I bought em today and the shoes plays real nice and the look turns heads...price is high but in all honesty this shoe should have been the A.D. with a 160 price tag instead and the line would have continued with no hick ups.

The main problem IMO is that Kobe's sneakers have always been performance sneakers. Stylisticily, they look basically the same. Not being a on court superstar anymore, I think his shoes cater to the wrong market. MJ's shoes are pop culture icons now stylisticily. Nobody cares about the performance of them. He should be making basketball shoes that look good for causal wear. That's what I got from the OG Kobe AD and this shoe. Stylisticily, they look cool (not my style, I'm not into modern shoes) and that's what the brand is going for now.

So from a practical perspective it isn't the most valuable info to know that an NBA player wears a particular shoe, when you're going to be putting many more hours on the shoe in much different conditions. I don't think a lot of shoe reviewers take in consideration what the shoe is made for. My Kobe Ad has been magic first game I wore them I had 35. Those cushions aren't for smaller guys sorry to say this if your wearing a shoe built for a shooting guard in the NBA that may weigh 210 plus the shoe feel is going to be different. The weight on the shoes matter. Like lebron doesn't make a point guard shoe. Some people wear shoes that aren't built for them.
