    • @cattymajiv
      @cattymajiv Год назад +3

      @@jito7377 Are you refering to Raleigh or RaleighLink14? She's one of the most arrogant horse people on RUclips, in so many ways. She just did a video, in her usual know-it-all tone, about why she thinks people should never buy at an auction. Of course it contradicts this video and many others. Everyone else talks about both the pros and cons. But Raleigh doesn't bother putting any thought into her stuff, so as usual, she ignores half the facts.
      Her overall message used to be about kindness to horses, and against abuse. But it changed to just being "Look at how pretty I am, and what a COLOSSAL EGO I have!" She rants and raves about how great she is, and how awful everyone else is. That doesn't even take 5 minutes of preparation. Compare that to the videos of other people, who care about their viewers enough to sometimes spend hours making a video 15 or 20 minutes long!
      But because she's very young, like her mostly teenybopper or preteen audience is, they think she's cool, and leave comments like "OMG! I JUST LOVE YOU! AND I ALWAYS WILL!" with 20 to 50 imogis at the end.
      They completely overlook the facts and let their teenybopper fan girl emotions rule them.
      If that's not what you meant, I apologize. Actually, either way I'm sorry for getting carried away. I stopped myself from going on, though there is a lot more to it as well. Sorry for making that assumption. And all the best to you! 🐴🐎🐴

      @@cattymajiv catty- after reading the comments on raleigh, I plodded over to take a look at the podcast.
      She’s a nice looking lady and she is straight forward and blunt. She seemed to get hot under the collar when she saw people doing stupid, foolish, mean things to the horse.
      Ya know. When I was a kid I would hop onto my horse and ride over to my best friend’s place and would tag along while she would lead riders. Her dad owned a riding stable.
      She didn’t like it and frankly was not good at it, and I would find myself helping and training the riders.
      Be gentle but firm don’t jerk the reins… you know. That kind of thing.
      Raleigh is young, strong willed and probably has not known hardship in life. So she’s feisty 😈. But life has a way of whittling away at our rough edges. No matter who you are.
      The main thing is that she cared for animals and that’s a good thing. All the other qualities will be or not be as the years go by.

    Recently found you via algorithm roulette--so glad. Love your VERY informative, gentle style---and answering 'little' things that aren't little. Excellent pragmatic business clarity---knowing auction markets, budget, sticking to prices, & your own intentional decisions--especially the hard ones, like when to stop or let go. In other vids, explaining the DNA tests/breeds to temperament/skills. And, times to just let horses be horses. My Nana (side saddle, carriage to wrangling) told me to watch your horses; feet. Let them be til they know their footing; look at feet & they won't feel challenged; stay quiet in our own footing, be steady so they know. I was too young to understand her advice about intentions: watching horse's feet move teaches watching men's feet move. Don't get kicked, stand your ground. Now?? Ohhhhh, yep, 10-4, Nana. Roger that. All the horses are pretty and want to come home. Check their teeth. Watch their feet. Amen.

    • @ranmakuro
      @ranmakuro 10 месяцев назад

      From european perspective this is still abuse. Because 1) horses being pushed together in pens that don't know each other (stressful), 2) being 'dumped' in the sun with no protection from direct sun impact - it's different if they are in a meadow and can choose to stay unter a roof top or walk out in the sun, but not when they are tied up, 3) being pushet into that little pen with so many strangers around, loud noises, quick movements. Many of those horses are severe underweight and - much worse - have no proper muscle at all. Carrying a human plus saddle and having to balance both out in that small ground must hurt a hell! Try to carry a 20kg backpack of stones that bumps into your vertebrae with each step you make plus your head being pulled backwards. (I do not talk about bits, this is clearly not abuse, but the way they pull on reins and keep the horses heads up while riding is anatomically a hazzard.)
      So there are some points from actual horse science that should be improved.

Thank you so much for going to this particular auction to make sure no salvageable horses from that sale didn't end up in Mexico. Auctions look like they would be emotionally draining for rescuers.

    It surprised me that so many horses sold for 3000 and over. Given the economic times i would have expected the amounts to be about 1,000 less. I bought my super bred QH reining filly for 2500 from the breeder in 2021 when she was a long yearling. A breeze to start and train. Shes a Shining Spark granddaughter with good cow blood on the bottom side. Lovely creme buckskin. However she has a consistent disunited canter. She started at 10,000 but i think her canter turned them off.
    I guess broke horses are always worth more. Auctions are so tough! Despite the sales pitch you never know what you've got tilI you get home. I like the way that you concentrate on the ones most in need. It must be very tough decisions on who gets left behind. One good thing about yearlings is there is time to turn around bad handling. It is very interesting to me to see US auctions and compare then to ours in Canada.

    That was fun, thanks for taking us along 😊 but I have to tell you, I personally would never pay that much $$ for a grade horse 🐴. Then again, I probably only say that because I bred, raised, and showed, AQHA APHA horses for over 25 years. But I do love all horses and I love to see an older horse get a second chance at life ❤ I'm strongly against the slaughter of horses 😡!! That one horse you looked at that had her tail tendons cut, really angered me because when I see that it makes me think of a "big lick" horse 🤬. But it didn't appear that her back end was broken down, so maybe not. That's another so called sport that needs to be abolished STOPPED asap!! That's nothing but pure evil and severe pain for a horse 🐴 strictly my opinion. Another great video, thank you 😊. Love and God Bless you 💜 ✝️ Jennifer
