Man, what is it with all of the critical comments?? "I don't like the blade", "I don't like the camera angles", "That's illegal", blah, blah, blah... Jimmy, you are an amazing artisan, and I appreciate all that you do. Love your style of making videos: I actually watched it with the sound turned right off, as I did not want to disturb my family, who are all resting right now.. Did not affect the enjoyability of the video at all. Keep doing what you do. Nothing but love from over here. Cheers Brother!!
kris from Indonesia, formerly the largest kingdom in Southeast Asia (Majapahit in Java) controlled the current region of Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and the southern Philippines, so the keris is spread in many areas.
Just found your channel, you can thank RUclips recommendations! I really like this format, no beating around the bush talking, just filmed the whole thing and sped up. Really dunno how you can stand listening to chipmunk music all day though!
i dont know if anyone else feels this way but it just feels right to watch a diresta video with the odd but enjoyable squeak of the radio in the background sped up. Oh and the air compressor kicking on every now and then. No music overlay needed.
Wow, that was awesome! That chunk of damascus sat on my shelf for many years, then I gave it to Jimmy as an icebreaker when I got to meet him. Glad to see it made into something cool. Cheers!
Something Medieval scabbards had was fur lining the inside. This helped keep the blade in place without rattling around and kept the blade nicely oiled. I'm not saying "GRRR, you should've have done it this way!!1! *Incoherent mumbling*", just giving you ideas.
The ergonomic design of a kriss is that it have a hooked handle and held like how we hold a handgun with the blade levelled horizontally at waist level. Use in close quarter fighting similar like the roman gladius, the kriss aims to stab the liver or disembowel the stomach which would cause a fatal injury and disabling an opponent during a fight...hence why the blade is held horizontally. Having a straight handle for a kriss is not very practical....
Actually I'm not even sure how the proper way for a kriss should be. In my culture we don't even sharpen or polish it, just leave it as how the smith have made it and regularly wash it with stuff like lime juice or other ceremonial substances (highly suspicious substances)....it's weird but since the weapon leaves an ugly and sometimes poisonous wound, only qualified practitioners are allowed to use them. Next dangerous weapon is kerambit....each of these weapon if found on person in public is a serious offense unless you are a certified "martial artist". A lot of close combat weapon in the south east asia region are designed to inflict fatal wound....you know with all the jungle and island, war are usually fought in small skirmishes in ancient time. My favourite weapon is the istinggar....during my childhood found an ancient manual in the military library when my father was serving in the navy. Very detail discussion on how to manufacture, handling, care and even guide on using it during rain or storm.
Guys just because it has a wavy blade doesn't make it a kris/keris, whilst a wavy blade is often found on a kris/keris it can also be found on blades from a variety of cultures and in Europe they are often referred to as a flamberge blade. It would be more accurate to just call it a wavy blade since the maker has not intended to copy any existing designs.
it's amazing the amount of stupid comments on how or what to use when Jimmy clearly demonstrated in all his videos that you can create everything in any way, if you have the right skills and craftsmanship like he has......I wonder how many of those who criticize him are able to make such a great piece. well done Jimmy! you're an inspiration

Sorry for my bad English, why don't you use a saw to cut the blade rather then grinding it into the snake shape?
He generally tries different techniques with different tools whenever possible to show that you don't need to have the major power tools like a floor standing bandsaw to make stuff like this.

Yeah, maybe that was the case, thanks for the answear! :)
@Nicholas Jevon but indonesia is just born in 1946 if im not mistaken And its born before that, mybe the kingdoms before that wich is not only indonesia but almost a whole southeast asia (mybe)
@Nicholas Jevon but religious holidays is came from mongol empire, not mongolia (now) So i will say keris is from majapahit, or idk but its still the empire
I know most of you think this is a cane but it's not... and Jimmy won't be using it on the streets of New York. It's actually a TROLL skewer! INTERWEB TROLLS BEWARE!!! And before all the trolls reply to this... of course he called it a cane on the video description... it's because these types of knives are illegal on the streets of New York! 😂😂😂 Also, he obviously made at his upstate shop. Everything's legal in the country right?
Lol, i accidentally clicked on this video while going over my suggestions. I thought i was watching Casey Neistat's video about "RUclips Loyalty" and for the first 2 minutes of this video all I was thinking was: Hmm, what the hell is he doing, I wonder how he is going to transition this into the topic...
So on a scale from zero to jail.... How jaily is this beautiful handmade art in New York City? Are we talking catch up on some reading, or make new best friends and take up weight lifting?
Terima kasih pak. Berkat bapak pusaka "keris" di kenal lebih banyak orang bahkan yang belum tahu sekalipun. Karena konten ini mereka lebih banyak tahu.💚

nice, just ignore comment from indonesians. they really like to claim.. when they making something that's not origin from their country, like t-shirt, shoes, car etc they don't say copy from other country. but when outsider making something just like they have, they will claim and say outsider copy their stuff..
I'd love to send this guy a sword cane I own, so he could make a longer sheath for me. The current one isn't quite the length I need, maybe he could even give the blade a better edge & polish it a bit.
i would have liked to see the blade forged into shape and lengthened a bit, seeing as you have a forge there, other than that everything is done fantastically , i like that you chose the flamberge/kriss blade design, you dont see many of those around :D

MrArthoz the kriss is very diabolical as you tickle the enemy with the curves as you stab them to death
MrArthoz .

0:45 the aliens are trying to contact us
I've never liked the chipmunks music but you must be their biggest fan!
The metal and wood cutting parts are relaxing to watch for some reason
A brass cap at the bottom so the wood doesn't wear. Beautiful work man.
Sounds like an alien transmission when you are making it.
10:22 I laughed at how many clamps he used... but then I remembered when I didn't have enough clamps....
This is Not Work or handmade stuff...

Minh Hiep also depending on the material it can be quicker to use a cut off wheel on the hand grinder
did anyone else find the grinding noises satisfying or am I the only weirdo?
You made it..😊😊..in Bali and Java we call it "Keris" but Keris was found all over the Nusantara archipelago
This is the right comment, not some dumbass, this is from Indonesia blablabla. Nusantara is much more wide than Indonesia
Did anyone else thing there phone was picking up some kind on alien transmission haha
And that's how dubstep was invented kids.
this audio is so satisfying
Love your work this one was especially cool with the brass and walnut. Looks great
Weight is good. Weight is reliable. If the blade jams you can always hit him with it.
One of the coolest things I've ever seen you make. :D
This is well known in Malaysia , Indonesia , And Phillipines i think.
the sword or dagger is know as Keris
@Nicholas Jevon not only indonesia, its from southeast asian lol
@Nicholas Jevon but indonesia is just born in 1946 if im not mistaken
And its born before that, mybe the kingdoms before that wich is not only indonesia but almost a whole southeast asia (mybe)

@Nicholas Jevon but religious holidays is came from mongol empire, not mongolia (now)
So i will say keris is from majapahit, or idk but its still the empire
listening to the first 60 seconds of audio and it gave me nightmares and flash backs to 1998 when I had 56 Kps dial up...... terrifying
Did anyone else hear that the aliens mashing UFO buttons?
Just Wooow. =Amazing hand /home made work = Look like God bless your Handes .👏bravo 👍
Интересный клинок в сочетании с такими ножнами и рукоятью. Я ковал такой клинок из дамаска только все загибы делал в процессе ковки.
I know I just started watching, but give me a sec cuz I think im contacting aliens.....
ExtremeVortex LMAO!!!
0:40 It sounds like a old commodore/Arcade cabinet video Game For a few Seconds

Magnifique monsieur Diresta bravo travail de professionnel 🙏👍
It's look like a "keris". Indonesian Traditional sword.
And, I also liked your job. Keep it on, and make something "cool" like that.
Sounds like you're playing SpaceInvaders XD
It’s not a sword in a cane, it’s a knife in a baseball bat
I would like to see that actually
You have mad skills bro, you have inspired me to take my fabrications to the next level.
When you drill it sounds like your play game sound affects
You forgot to cut your arm hair
Amazingly done! I like the fact that you didn't put any music!
Beautyfull piece of craftsmanship.
And also a well concealed and effective weapon.
Good Job

Ollie W about a 7 and in between
Well jimmy it seems you have really inspired the international community with this build. Well done sir
Alien transmission in progress
So this is how dubstep gets its samples: sped up angle grinder
So much brass and blue color.... if there would be a smooth narration, this could be clickspring ;)
Nice. You didn't skimp on the blade length...sweet!
A cane I'd love to own. For sure..
JOGJAKARTA KERIS INDONESIA
I can called you "Empu Londo" sir.. You can make "Keris"..a traditional sword from Indonesian.
This kris looks really cool ...
But it's not a sword, it's a dagger.
Terima kasih pak. Berkat bapak pusaka "keris" di kenal lebih banyak orang bahkan yang belum tahu sekalipun. Karena konten ini mereka lebih banyak tahu.💚

I LOVE IT I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE OF MY OWN
Why did you use the angle grinder to cut the kris outline, and not your metal band saw?
Tim Keller because the thicker the steel the slower that saw would be, this honestly was probably quicker
in the Philippines we also called that Kris one of traditional weapon of Philippines
FILIPINO WARRIOR where can i buy like dis one in da philippines?
austronesian pride weapon
FILIPINO WARRIOR ONE OF TRADISIONAL WEAPON OF PHILIPPINES? ARE U SURE? ...... HAHAHA YOU'RE VERRY FUNNY BROH HAHA
yes iam sure search it in google
but i think its origin by spanish
i would have liked to see the blade forged into shape and lengthened a bit, seeing as you have a forge there, other than that everything is done fantastically , i like that you chose the flamberge/kriss blade design, you dont see many of those around :D
The beginning of the grinding sounded like it was produced by Skrillex
YES! Thank you!
It doesn't sorry to say
LMAO. True that.
You must be come to indonesia for keris...maybe java, bali or lombok island...
now I want to see you make one with a very long, thin, straight blade that occupies most of the length of the cane.
Pertama kali video ini di post subscriber dia baru 30k gak nyangka sekarang udah 1jt lebih.....good job lah

Very nice! Hell of a lot of hand work in that project.
Angle grinder really do be sounding like skrillex
That is asome!!!👌💘
Kiara Hernandez 🙃
This isn't sped up, this is just how he lives.
Loved the soldering technique!! I swear that looks easier than using an iron haha
Has a band saw, has a milling machine ... uses an angle grinder to profile kris.
man I love this dubstep, whats it called
Slashy on both edges and stabby at the tip. Nice!
Alec steel reference, nice.
A masterpiece by a genius..
Di indonesia di sebut keris, tpi stiap lengkungan y tidak di cetak melain kan di buat dengan manual
this sword as like " keris ". the traditional javanese sword.
suku jawa from indonesia 👍
Kay kar Rahi iron man
I love the damascus steel.
What a beautiful walking stick/ Damascus sword. Very well done.
is there a reason for not using the belt grinder for the wooden shaft of the cane?? why take so much time using the files and what not?
