Enjoyed the video. My Matiz is a 2010 0.8 that I've had from new. It's now done 175,000 miles and averages 55mpg. Biggest problem is getting spare parts as Chevrolet pulled out of UK 10 years ago.
That's great to hear. ❤️ Parts are certainly becoming an issue now. I'm actually planning on buying an identical Matiz with lower miles and using it for parts in the not too distant future. It would be a shame to take one off the road so waiting for a ropey bodywork one or something like the clutch gone and the owner doesn't want to spend the money on fixing it. Would really help me out in the long term, especially for the trickier parts. That's amazing that you're wracking up the miles in yours. 😊 Mine has now done 128,630 as of today. Still drives with no issues and is still my work horse. 😊❤️
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman I needed a new clutch at around 160,000 miles, a new exhaust at 170,000. Alternators tend to expire every 60,000 miles or so. Other than that, it starts first time, uses no oil or coolant and returns an average of 55mpg. Good luck with yours!

Despite your initial negativism and tough guy language you will have persuaded many to appreciate the merits of this simple budget car of Italian design aimed at the south Asian mass market but adored in France and the British Isles too. A serious point is that the tallness and ease of access is a boon to those of us with disabilities. Also the boot is rather bigger than on most cars in the 'city' class and room for rear passengers even of British size is astonishing. The gearbox is designed to be able to cope with variable road surfaces and changes of speed in the target market but provides some good old fashioned fun on a long cross country dash -- as you have probably found yourself. Yes brakes need to be watched as they can gum-up when the car is not used for a while. Similarly with your gauge and light problems I suggest that these occurred after neglect and not being turned over as the relays are not high quality and are prone to oxidation in our UK winters. This is also true of Mazda and Suzuki. These are cars to be used and have qualities missing from other such cars. Maybe it is the fun element combined with solid engineering in suspension and steering. They are not cars for boring long motorway driving but will behave in that scenario. Hi, funnily enough I bought my car at 30,000 miles and at the height of work I was doing 600 miles in the car a week with no problem. I went through quite a few wheel bearings so there's that to bear in mind but at £40 to replace them every now and again it doesn't break the bank. All I'd say is before hitting the road for constant use make sure it's had a service, the timing belt has been changed and then just the usual, checking of tyres etc. Then you're good to hit the road for many of miles and hours of driving. Look after it, it will look after you. 😊👍 My car is now on 115,000 miles over the span of 8yrs and I can just jump in it to go to the shops or I can drive to the other end of the country, I know it will get me there. Just keep on top of regular maintenance schedules so nothing does go wrong and any advisors on an MOT just do them rather than leaving them to manifest into a bigger problem then you're good to go. 👌

My mum's just given me her 2009 Matiz as my first car. 70,000 miles, so a bit less than you :) I'm liking it so far but have nothing to compare it to obviously
Awesome! Happy motoring as they say. 👍 You can have so much fun in it and you will only be driving at 40mph, brilliant first little car and very easy to park as well. 😉👍
My mum sometimes give me her 2002 daewoo matiz and it's awesome I have driven other cars like: Peugeot 206,207, stupid mini suvs like 2008 and the fiat 500x and a Toyota yaris, but i love the matiz a lot a lot more, it is so incredibly funny to drive and if you think it js slow (and it is) just go up a mountain road and later go down in the night hahaha, it's funny but be careful
Not only women love this car 😂 The chevrolet spark/matiz is also my first car and I have like 5y now and I absolutely love this car. I have done some modifications to this car so now it's not old boring matiz as everybody whould imagine when somebody says matiz. It's one of the best cars for new drivers and also amateur tuners/mechanics. The wiring is one of the worst i have seen 😂 so that's why You have some problems (fuel gauge - replace float in tank and check all connections, headlights - in my chevy connectors for the bulbs started melting, I have replaced both of them with ceramic ones and replaced wires with much thiccker ones so now they can handle high current wich is required for highbeams) To be honest ABS is absolutely shit... So for everybody, be prepared to soft brake pedal bc. of the ABS placment and characteristics (I love rock hard brake pedal on the other cars like my dad's vw polo) And story with battery... I can only confirm that 😂 I use only premium BOSCH battery, it lasts for 5-7y and allso it can jump start a lot of cars 😂 so I'm proud of the battery and alternator in this car 😂
It's a brilliant car to be honest. I wouldn't be without mine now. 😊👍 Its one of those that's so shit it's good. Yes it has problems as you've described and as I colourfully mentioned too in the video but it has character and that's why it's special. Its always going to get you from A to B but you do sometimes wonder what will fall off or what won't work today! It adds fun to the journey! 😂
Considering the mileage, the issues aren't too bad. There are cars with less miles with more issues. If the matiz is thunderbird 1, you just need a launch sequence like they had on Thunderbirds 😂😂
Have cheverlet matiz 2009 for 6 years. Low mileage (24,000) hardly drove went for MOT failed on shock absorber got replaced then was Alternator, battery, fog lamp relay just domino effect haha
I had that recently, it seemed never ending started with a rusty sump leaking oil and went from there... Got everything done though and hasn't caused me any dramas since apart from routine maintenance for the past 3yrs. 😊 Happy motoring and I hope that's the last of your problems. 🤞👌

Ohhhhhh that's an odd one? 🤔 Sadly haven't had the issue myself but may be more electrical related than actual brakes. I have a flickering oil light on my car especially when stood at a set of traffic lights. Oil level is correct and when you plug it in there's no fault code. If it drives fine and stops fine without any pulling to the left and the right I wouldn't worry. It won't fail an M.O.T if the light only comes on when driving at 45mph or above as obviously they check for any lights stationary on the ramp. Hope that helps. 😊👍

Awesome! Happy motoring as they say. 👍 You can have so much fun in it and you will only be driving at 40mph, brilliant first little car and very easy to park as well. 😉👍
My mum sometimes give me her 2002 daewoo matiz and it's awesome
I have driven other cars like: Peugeot 206,207, stupid mini suvs like 2008 and the fiat 500x and a Toyota yaris, but i love the matiz a lot a lot more, it is so incredibly funny to drive and if you think it js slow (and it is) just go up a mountain road and later go down in the night hahaha, it's funny but be careful
The meaning Yorkshire man do you follow cricket?
No sorry.
The mighty Matiz 😂😂😂😂
The mighty Matiz indeed! 🤣
The chickmobile😂😂😂
Absolutely!! 😂 😂 😂
Empty, full.... Empty, full.
Matiz, it's the future. Ideal first car and this has certainly been put through its paces. 😂 😂 😂
It's the future indeed, I've tasted it! 😂 😂 😂 Glad you enjoyed it Terry. 😊👍
Yh good thing is that you hardly see them

Not only women love this car 😂 The chevrolet spark/matiz is also my first car and I have like 5y now and I absolutely love this car. I have done some modifications to this car so now it's not old boring matiz as everybody whould imagine when somebody says matiz. It's one of the best cars for new drivers and also amateur tuners/mechanics.
The wiring is one of the worst i have seen 😂 so that's why You have some problems (fuel gauge - replace float in tank and check all connections, headlights - in my chevy connectors for the bulbs started melting, I have replaced both of them with ceramic ones and replaced wires with much thiccker ones so now they can handle high current wich is required for highbeams)
To be honest ABS is absolutely shit... So for everybody, be prepared to soft brake pedal bc. of the ABS placment and characteristics (I love rock hard brake pedal on the other cars like my dad's vw polo)
And story with battery...
Where is the radiator cap, the guy from halfords couldn't locate it!
That's actually a great question! If I remember rightly you have to remove the air filter box and it's under there. 👍
Considering the mileage, the issues aren't too bad. There are cars with less miles with more issues. If the matiz is thunderbird 1, you just need a launch sequence like they had on Thunderbirds 😂😂
Yes! Next time I go to rescue someone I'll stick the theme tune on! 😂 😂 😂
Wahey!
Thought you'd like it. 👌
Laga luga laga luga laga luga
my matiz has 190 thousand on the clock , sounds sweet tho ..
Wow! That's amazing! ❤️
get the Daewoo Matiz its perfect
Daewoo Matiz is great too. 😊 I actually prefer them more than the Chevrolet as I like the styling of the Daewoo better. It looks cute. ❤️
Thunderbirds are go........i need rescuing Josh.....
F.A.B Hookster.... I'm on my way! 😂😂 😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Nice one i will put the tea on
My Chevrolet Matiz doesn't have as much body roll as those fucking F1 cars!!! 😂😂
😂😂😂 Not on F1 2011 anyway! What an awful game! 😂😂😂
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman People were dissing this car, its really not bad for small runabout, it could be worst, it could be a Fiat cinquecento hawaii, with a red door!!🤣🤣
@@warwickbull5559 😂 I don't mind, they can Diss it if they like.... Its only my daily runaround but its been my companion since passing my driving test and rarely let me down! I'll never get rid of it! ❤️
Chevrolet Shatiz hahahahahha

My mother inlaw whose 82 has a 2008 from new with 46.000 miles but now the ABS light is coming on when you hit 45 mph any ideas
