So glad they went ahead & brought this to trial...esp. so that loved ones are still around to see justice served.

If you knew the case properly then you’d know Gordon was cleared very early on in the investigation. He and Renee had already separated and police searches and interviews found nothing suspicious in his actions. MacDowell was going to lose a very well paying job, his wife and children would find out he’d fathered a 3 year old son with the woman he was having an affair with and he’d recently built an expensive house with land for horses etc. By revealing the affair with Renee, all that was going to make life very difficult for him. I guess when it was eventually known about his long-term affair with Renee, his wife would’ve stood by him now that Renee and her and William’s illegitimate child were dead and out of the picture. She too would’ve lost the trappings of a comfortable life had she binned MacDowell….she had her own young girls to care for and standing by her man and lying to the police, (she slipped up in an interview and revealed Renee had been stabbed), was easier than being a single mother in the 70s. Basically, the evidence clears Gordon and implicates MacDowell. The jury would’ve been shown more evidence than was made public and I’m more than confident they made the right decision when they found MacDowell guilty. He was a coward and a monster who murdered a woman who adored him and their child just to save his own skin and reputation. I don’t believe in any type of god or heaven, but if I’m wrong and there is actually a Hell, then I hope MacDowell spends eternity there.
