We miss out on God's blessing because we aren't thankful? In the very passages she's quoting she's disproven. Luke 17- all the lepers were cleansed (v14) ....psssst even the 9 ungrateful ones. John 6- Jesus certainly gave thanks (for what God ALREADY provided) and if you read further in the chapter (v22-71) you'll see that the same crowd that was fed ,that is the same crowd that experienced God's blessing, rejected Jesus and only sought what they could gain from Jesus, much like these prosperity preachers. The crowd was not thankful yet received a blessing. How about John 11- First of all Jesus knew Lazarus would be healed and that the purpose of the whole ordeal was GOD'S GLORY (V4). At Lazarus grave Jesus does thank God that He heard Him, but why does He says that? Verses 41-42 “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” Christ was not saying thank you in order to gain something from God He said it so that everyone else would know that He is the Son of God. The point of the whole passage is that Christ is the resurrection and the life (v 25). He is God incarnate and has power over death and sin. He, the God man, is the one who is glorious. He is the one who bore the wrath of God as the substitute for His people and rose from the grave. He was not a gnostic teacher showing us the secret power of "thankfulness." Repent and believe the Gospel- mark and avoid false teachers such as Hickey. I don't care if she's "older than me" God is much much much older than her. His Word stands forever.
