I dont think “heavy” is the perfect word to describe this song. I would use the term “thrashy”. This song is one of the apex of thrash metal songs.

This was the album that launched Metallica into super stardom and got them on tour with Ozzy playing stadiums and arenas and they never looked back after this. I didn't hear this album until 5-6 years after it came out, but I can't imagine what a Metallica fan of the time must have thought when this song kicks into overdrive. It had to have been the greatest thing they'd ever heard in their life.

I used to listen to this song on the way to work every morning to get me pumped up before work. Lol.
My favourite album to date of theirs.This album was ground breaking when it came out. It left everyones jaw on the floor (including mine) only to be followed up by a... WHO THE F@#% IS THIS ? It exploded on the under ground metal world like an atomic bomb and set the bar so high from everything that had previously ever been released. And if master of puppets came out today, I believe it would have the exact same effect! It's vicious, viciously delightfully violent, fast, very very hard and haunting. In my personal opinion it can and will never be out done, but I can't wait to hear something so beautiful that could take it's spot... I won't hold my breath! Maybe.. just maybe I'll be lucky enuff for it to happen in my life time. Doubt it, but in this case I'd loved to be wrong.🤘

This music at that time, so ahead of it's time, I finally bought the album when I was 13 or 14, that was 1991 or 92, lost it, then stole it from the same store I bought it from, I was bad :P but NEEDED my MoP!!! Hands down IMO the best metal album of all time, as it is ranked #4 by Rolling Stone, I believe :)

You're right, this remastered version sucks! Seems like drums sound is enhanced when there was absolutely no reason to do it. I can also hear the song kinda butchered sometimes, like "sound cracks" every now and then. Lars did it again XD
