Germany Rheinmetall is producing a Super Himars System called Gmars a mix between Himars and Mlrs. It should be effective with PrSM (the new Succesor from ATACAMS) over 400km. This apparent dissociation between tactical objectives and their cost reminds me of a sci-fi setting in Space Opera RPG of old, only it was the reverse situation: a prolific, warlike, reptilian species would both blame a commander for loosing any battle, as expected, but also reward him in the event of a costly battle, be it a defeat. The blame would emanate from the Ministry of War, the reward from the Ministry of Population.
Here, it looks like the Russian "Ministry of Population" would blame a commander for wasting his troops in any battle, as expected, but the "Ministry of Expansion" would reward him in the event of any territorial gain, be it very costly.

Here's the problem with Russia's biggest nuclear arsenal in the world: It's all over 40 years old mounted on even older delivery systems. These things require regular and expensive maintenance, and we know how lax Russian maintenance is. More likely to explode during launch.
No one is using nukes. Russian oligarchs have 100s of billions in assets in the west. Their children are in the west. It’s all a big fat bluff like “second army in the world”.
I think they may have exaggerated the amount of the Nukes they had. Easier to say you have them than it is to actually build them. Like the Armada and Supersonic stealth bomber. Looks good on paper, but....
Maybe not explode, but it might be all bets are off WHERE the warheads end up and whether or not they go off.
It seems the missiles with conventional warheads usually do esplode on their targets if not intercepted.... I can assume that they would work in the same way with nuclear warheads. In any case it is much better not to test their effectiveness...

A nuclear weapon working as designed needs a fairly precise explosion around the nuclear material to then generate the fission reaction. In all likelihood Russian bombs would probably be far less damaging but far more toxic in the long run because they would likely end up being especially dangerous dirty bombs.

Massive firebombing took place prior to the use of the atomic bombs and famously a few cities were spared to be more accurate testing grounds for the effects of the nukes. Even before the end of the war in Europe there were carpet bombing attacks in Germany. Dresden being the most famous, February 13 through 15th 1945.

About those ruSSian ships going to Cuba. Perhaps someone should start a go fund me account for Ukraine to purchase fishing boats and/or seaplane(s) so Ukraine can sit in waiting for the ruSSian ships to enter/leave Cuba into international waters. I imagine the fishing boats/seaplanes acting like the mother ship for a bunch or rubber boats. Once Ukraine gets word the ruSSian ships are approaching international waters, Ukraine launches a bunch of manned rubber boats (to lower radar footprint) with several of those wonderfully effective Ukrainian sea drones in various strategic places to discreetly sit and wait. When the ruSSian ships are in range, the rubber boats launch the swarms of sea drones and...

What you see missing on the Russian submarine is missing acoustic panels, an all submarines are expected to lose some duration operation both from wear and tear and any underwater collisions with wildlife. They are designed to be quickly swapped out as needed due to damage. Acoustic panels are designed to absorb or at least deaden any noises that can identity it's presence and can help soften internal noises. All submarines have these and suffer from similar issues.
I think he explained that, the point was more mocking their photo op moment that occurred without fixing the issues or at least giving their digital manipulation teams a chance to doctor the video. Remember Russia and China in the past have both mocked US navy ships for their wear after spending long periods deployed and this sub is making a state visit for the first time for its class of ship.
@@ryangomez4462 Fair enough, I may have missed mentioning it but it is worth highlighting in comments, and I am not defending the Russians but this is only the kind of repairs you would do in port. If this photo op was done as coming to port then the person taking the shot should have done it on the other side. Either way America probably got some interesting intelligence from this. However throughout this war we have seen Russia is better at propaganda than PR, not that they are any good at the former.

in 1944 the German army took an outdated medium tank, the Panzer IV (which in the later years of the war had became outdated and the need for Mobile AA guns was becoming more Dire). so they removed the old turret and 75mm gun, and built a new 9 sided turret that could carry Four, 2 cm Flakvierling 38, or the 20mm Flak 38. After being named the Wirbelwind (Western Wind) for the 4 barreled 20mm Variant, and OstWind (Eastern Wind) for the later single barreled 37mm Variant which could hit aircraft at higher altitudes, They would Actually go on to be QUITE successful in there new role, and the 20mm cannons were VERY deadly against low flying Aircraft, armored trucks and cars and was devastating against infantry personal.
Providing the armor of a main battle tank with the power of an AA is a Tried and Tested method, Time will tell if the Leopard SPAA will be up to its new role.
Those missing rubber plates on a submarine are normal. Happens to everyone over time.
